But I still think that 60s and 70s manstream, Beatles, Abba and whatnot, were mixed better and weren´t as cluttered as todays mainstream. You can´t really deny that.
Of course one can... I would definitely say the opposite. Pop today is extremely well produced and the standard is higher than ever. Everything is just perfect. That wasn't even possible in the 60's and 70's. Sometimes I listen to 90's pop just to hear the production.
Compared to this clusterfuck.
do you even know how mastering or mixing works? bad romance is fine-tuned to the very millisecond, and that's the problem. here listen to in rainbows this is by far the best mastering i've ever heard and you can pull out any prog record out that you like, it won't sound as good as that. prog records have an awful tendency to make guitars sound more like synthesizers and less like guitars
vBulletin Pre-Populated Search Results Demo?
Darn, I should have checked the links before hand. Weird mess up. [editline]28th October 2010[/editline] I really hate the mixing on this song, especially the chorus. I see this kind of issue with a lot of songs, many of them being pop. There are a lot of pop songs though that don't have too much going on musically but still work, and I find those interesting. Has anyone gotten the video tags to work?
For me, the purpose of music is to convey emotion. It doesn't matter if a song is simple or complex, as long as it reminds me that I'm human.
yeah, "golden years" people are just whingers honestly to hell with the lot of them, I'm sick of listening to them complain about things they have no idea about, as they've never strayed further than the beatles or led zeppelin
I kind of see what you're saying, I like a lot of new music, but for me the late 60's/early 70's was the golden age of rock music. There was just so much good stuff coming out then, I like a lot of modern music, but for me it's a lot harder to stuff coming out today that I really enjoyed, compared to back then when everything was just really awesome. But perhaps it's just taste too.

"Oh music nowadays is terrible, music died in the 70s." Really pisses me off. I'm the opposite to you bro, I loved my 70s - 80s stuff but then I got into some modern stuff and it blew it clean outta the water. But s'all personal taste man, no right or wrong :) [editline]29th October 2010[/editline]
That's just your taste. If you said that all the music from the 2000's was bad, you'd be one of the people he was talking about.
He said that it's all taste practically And no he's not the kind of person I'm talking about thanks And for everyone aruging about the mixing, for me, it's quality of music, not the absolute perfection in which it's recorded. Some of my favourite albums have what you'd consider terrible mixing, but they're still the greatest to me anyway
The mixing back then was horrible. Just listen to this overproduced and compressed crap. The vocals are very dominant and the rest of the instruments are just background noise.
