There was never an issue with the MuS thread until Reagy and Kiwi became mods
Can anyone argue in favour of keeping MUS, rather than just merging it in with TF2 General?
I'm really bad at arguing but here's an attempt. Major update speculation - in there you find info about upcoming updates (interviews etc) and possible leaks that you then speculate about. Sadly, when we're this close to an update and there's a drought of info the thread tends to down-spiral a bit and turn into a shitpost fest. TF2 general chat is just general chat. Questions, meta discussion, jokes - basically shit that doesn't fit in any of the more specific TF2 threads. If we combine the threads the people who are only looking for speculation will have to wade through posts they don't care about to find info about updates. Obviously it would make moderating easier for you guys since there's basically no off-topic posts anymore, but it would put off many users who come there only for MUS.
What's stopping the tf2 sub-forum to just merging into a tf2 thread anyway? it's no where popular enough anymore to warrant it's own forums. As a huge fan of the game I'm just wondering what's been stopping you from doing it?
you could just bring back Valve Games and Mods and roll TF2, Dota 2, and CS:GO into their own little sections like it was with TF2 and Left 4 Dead. but then again it's not like the Dota 2 or CS:GO threads are the most active places as they are anyway.
Contra asks to be unbanned so he can give his two cents on the entire MUS thing. Normally he'd appeal himself but clicking the "Appeal ban" button just reloads the page for him. He promises to keep Civil, but he is a spy main
Reduced to a day
Can anyone argue in favour of keeping MUS, rather than just merging it in with TF2 General? I'm trying to be level headed here and see your point of view, but if we just look at the fact MUS has more bans than any other thread in the whole rest of the forums, why is it worth keeping it? And why is it such a big deal for it to be going?
Personally, in terms of arguing for keeping MUS it's technically always been something like a general chat except about updates and not various "my day on tf2" shit, from what I gather. I agree and understand mods' point that the thread beat the record of "bans per thread" (probs not counting culls) however I think MUS still deserves to be kept around anyway for this simple reason: it allows continuity of update-related talk when there is speculation material available to begin with. Yes, it has recently turned into a shitpost fest of "lol no update bell ringringring hehehe xddd" content, but that's the cycle of MUS[TM]: speculate -> update drops -> complain -> time passes -> no new updates -> drought -> shitposting -> new material is found -> repeat It's probably a pain to moderate and again, I think everyone understands that, however it's not only part of the "tf2 subforum spirit and tradition", it's also the main point of interest of some users, myself included. Finally, the warning we were given. People who care for MUS staying around stopped shitposting, or complained once or twice about the decision and shut it. The only people who continued shitposting, however, are the 1-post gimmick accounts made by kiddies swarming in from other sites. Point is, we (as the "mus lovers") can't control their behavior, and if anyone can tame them, it's the moderation team. We have no tools to influence the bad posters (other than reporting, which, from what I gather from your input, is being used heavily). However, asking them to "shut the fuck up or you'll get banned" gets you banned for "predicting moderation". So that's out of the question. In the end you expected us to somehow self-moderate without any moderation tools other than raw persuasion which would have in return increased the amount of offtopic posts and lead to the topic's SIGKILL-esque death anyway. It's a lose/lose scenario. As for a solution - I think that taking a firmer stance on shitposting in mus and enforcing it consistently is your best bet. You'll figure it out, I'm sure. ;)
imo if there's some sort of speculation material like an interview/leak/blog post, whatever, chances are that discussion about the content and it's implications on future tf2 updates can easily occur inside of a general chat thread setting. when the update actually comes out, we can have a thread for the update until discussion about the update dies off (this already happens even with mus)
I speculate tf2 section is going to get over it
Ask for arguments against closing it then close it without even responding to a single argument. This forum is a fucking joke.
good thing noone's forcing you to stay
Not even locking it just straight up removing it, all of the posts just gone. [editline]22nd July 2017[/editline]
good thing noone's forcing you to stay
Why is this thread just 50 % users with anime avatars kissing mod ass
good thing noone's forcing you to stay
Come on now, while the mod team do think it's for the best they are still part of the Facepunch community. I think the arguments people made cemented the fact that it should probably be merged with general.
Ask for arguments against closing it then close it without even responding to a single argument. This forum is a fucking joke.
The majority of the responses they got were against MUS staying around/neutral, so of course they are going to close it. Literally nothing will even change, you can still have the exact same discussions that you liked, just under a different thread name.
Was it really necessary to delete it? Couldn't you just lock it?
Would it be a fair compromise to have a speculation/discussion thread directly related to an already-announced update that is imminent? Like when they made the Gun Mettle update is almost here blog post. And then just let the thread run its course/close it after a set date and open a new one when another update is announced. So like no speculation thread until they actually announce the pyro/jungle update
Was it really necessary to delete it? Couldn't you just lock it?
It's not deleted, it was given back to the earth.
Update info or other such important information can just be rolled into the TF2 General OP if needed; either by the OP, having the OP reassigned to a more active user, or done directly by a moderator. [editline]22nd July 2017[/editline] I doubt it's something we're going to have to do very often, after all

I mean after the merge if it turns out to be shit and everyone hates it we can always just allow mus again it's not like we MUS-t choose between having it be there or gone forever
I mean after the merge if it turns out to be shit and everyone hates it we can always just allow mus again it's not like we MUS-t choose between having it be there or gone forever
i changed my mind delete MUS and never bring it back for this awful pun
what if instead of deleting mus we just deleted the entire forum
what if instead of deleting mus we just deleted the entire forum
All of Facepunch? I don't know, do you think it's really that toxic?
What if we just stopped caring about video games all together
I didn't know the mods here were so anti-TF2, I feel personally and morally attacked.
Video games are corrupting our Youth and Moderators.
Why is this thread just 50 % users with anime avatars kissing mod ass
we know why tbh
