Is this how you avoid bans?
When I was a moderator I accepted duels as valid ban appeals, but I wouldn't say people were avoiding a ban by doing so usually.
Some of them are dead.
You guys could just make a GMF Discord and then not let anyone in because you want it to be your own special place.
old gmf did, it died, and so did they.

Us folks over in the Mapping section, agree we should have some Moderators to help enforce the rules, we get way to many people creating question threads instead of using the "Mapping Question Megathread"
Bump. We need moderators to force people to use this thread instead of making shitty two post threads and asking questions in the wip thread.
I personally only try to answer questions posted here.
This is dumb. There's an entire mapping section which at first glance is *presumably* used for getting mapping help, or reading tutorials. Restricting questions to the megathread (especially ones that may require multiple responses, or are fairly complex) makes it more difficult for people to organize their questions and responses, and makes it nearly impossible to COME BACK to your question let's say 6 months from now to re-read some of the replies people have posted. I still re-read question threads in the lua section from years ago. That valuable information would be nearly impossible to find if it was a rule that all questions went into a megathread.
[editline]10th August 2017[/editline]
If question threads bother you THAT MUCH, let's get a Mapping Questions subcategory to organize all of that information. Keeping it to 1 thread makes no sense, and is only useful for people who have simple questions.
Some sections, like Hardware and Software iirc, already do split quick questions megathread + leaves the subforum open for normal question threads without any complaints.
Yeh, more complicated questions and such can have their own threads; but at this point yet another thread about basic concepts like e.g. cubemaps holds no archival value whatsoever, so they can just drown in a megathread after being answered.

Which is fine, but when you're threatening to ban users for not posting a question in the megathread, who decides what is complex and what isn't? Something simple for 03C0 could be something extremely complex for me. It's pointless to micromanage question threads. Like Craptasket said, you should be able to post questions in the megathread if you choose, or make your own thread, if you choose.
I updated the new rule to allow for long form thread question threads, but if its just a quick question e.g. why is my map fullbright/why is my lighting not working then it really should go into the Mapping Questions Megathread.
The section seems to average 2-3 question threads a day, and pretty much all of them get between 0 and 3 posts, on very similar topics. If you're asking how to make water then its a worthless to make a whole thread for it, when it can be answered quickly in the megathread.

This still doesn't fix the issue of who decides if a question warrants a thread or not. What if I come across a seemingly complicated problem, but ends up being extremely simple. That's not my fault, I am just trying to get information and learn, but now I'm banned because of an arbitrary rule forcing "simple" questions to go in the megathread. There's no shortage of thread space, why does it even matter?

In defence, you fuckers need to report the posts because we're not seeing them, it takes 2 reports for them to show on the queue and I've personally only ever actually seen 1 or 2 reports from that section and those were back when I first got modded.
Its fine saying we should help enforce but we're not here to babysit sections, the report function is there for us to see what is wrong and to act on it, the forums its self is in a form of self moderation with the report function, we're here to review and act upon them.
Additionally if we review the report and deem it not bannable, the thread will stay and the report dismissed, this can happen a lot (especially with the I DONT AGREE WITH X STATEMENT REPORTED FAGGOT, which happens a lot).
Report Reagy because we all know she has the worst gun ever.
Okay, I'm just going to go out and say it. Can people start getting banned for going into a thread involving sequels/remakes/whatever, posting "endless trash" or "fuck you it's forever", and then leaving?
It was funny once, when the video came out, but now they're just meme replies that contribute nothing to the threads.
I clapped when I read those endless reposts mindlessly parroting a video over and over like doing this makes them special and mature for pointing out that something is in a series or shows basic continuity. They broke new ground

They're slow in the head, it took them 12 years to make that joke
Examples???
Go to any thread involving an unwanted sequel or reboot of a movie or TV series, or a new installment in a long-running video game franchise that's at least semi-unpopular on FP.
Fuck you, it's forever.
what does this even mean
what does this even mean
red letter media meme where it started with "fuck you its january" because shit movies come out around that time, but then when shit movies came out all year it turned into "fuck you it's forever"
Rich Evans, Sony Executive, gave us a large sum of cash not to remove RLM memes
what does this even mean
Is a form of expression over Rust's early access program
Is RedLetterMedia a meem?
