I'm setting up payment methods and trying to arrange some launch events
Can you say what payment methods are being looked at currently? I'm excited to contribute but am also quite curious about this.

So far I've got Google Wallet working and I'm looking into AmazonPay. I'm trying to avoid PayPal.

Both work for me, but if I could use my Amazon account that would be rad

Why? Paypal is simply the single most convenient option for anyone that doesn't have or want to use a card online, as well as the fact it generally tends to support countries other than the US better than the rest. Not to mention it's simply the dominant force. It's a pretty big niche to cut out.

AmazonPay uses an Amazon account, so thats already sorted.
Probably because people could fake donate a lot of money and then charge it back

PayPal are notorious for being exploitable and shit

This isn't an issue exclusive to Paypal. This can happen just the same with AmazonPay and Google Wallet. Chargebacks are handled by the card company or the banks, all AmazonPay or Google could do to stop that is eat the chargeback out of their own funds and that's not going to happen.

Google Wallet goes straight to your associated bank account and doesn't charge fees. I don't know about Amazon, but I'm sure they're probably not going to be a company that closes your account and confiscates all your money like PayPal does after "suspicious activity".
PayPal chargebacks are whole different beast than card chargebacks
You can pretty much always win them as a supplier of digital goods or if its just a donation service - but it's just unneeded stress
(The gmod script selling market uses paypal and there's nothing but complaints)
Apparently now you can. Pay the admins extortionate amounts of money for special whitelists and guns among other crap like ignoring permanent kills.
To be on topic I don't think a RP server is that sought after by Facepunch but hey I could be wrong.
The only thing I ever played DarkRP for was building and sometimes raiding. And I'm pretty sure there's a different gamemode for that.

Google Wallets service varies country to country. For example, in AU it's card only. There is no direct bank option, Paypal is the only service that does that in AU. PayPal may be notorious for bullshit but the fact is millions of businesses and the like get by with it exclusively without issue. It is a hugely overblown issue, it's just high visibility when it does occur.

I suppose we can have PayPal on a trial basis, the only risk is that any funds contained within the account if it gets suspended would be lost.

Biggest thing to take note of here is ensure it's a business account not a personal account. Honestly I just want PayPal because it simply is the most convenient option for me. Amazon often hates my Australian cards and I find that if something goes wrong support can't do anything for me for being in AU currently, the only place I find that uses Google Wallet is Google services so I have never once used it, and for me PayPal is just convenient with their instant bank transfers, not having to futz around with cards and my bank being fussy about them.
I wouldn't mind a Killing Floor 2 server. Would there be votes at to what server is funded?
I'd just host it fuck, I've got loads of free power on my servers so, always wanted to give it use.
The problem with any FP community servers is we're so widely distributed geographically. An FP server hosted in the UK would be of little use to US-based FP users. This is what kills almost every attempt at a community TF2 server, for example.

Should have thought about that before ruining that shipment of tea.

It think for anything "official", it would need to be multiple servers all running the same setup. So eg, for Gmod it could be, say; US, UK and AU, all running the same config, addons, etc, just mirrored and available from different regions.
Just a footnote, when talking about locations like that, UK is basically just EU in terms of latency.

Just have a EU and a US server. Sure it sucks having 2 but there might be some us fp'ers that might want to play with others
Well if we ever need EU FP servers gimme a shout for w/e game I'll get it up. Free since I like you guys a bit.
Also, make the US server east coast. It's sad, but west coast servers simply aren't viable even if it's where I live.
I can host a LAN party for everyone in my parents' basement though I can't guarantee we have room for more than four

Also being US east coast it'll cover more FPers with a more even latency. East coast to EU is better than East to West coast in terms of latency (beefier connections & more fiber).

I believe the latency from EU > West Coast is 100 - 130MS. Some games it might be okay, source games, errrgghhhhh.
When applications are made, moderators will decide which are funded. On occasion we may allow the community to dictate where funding goes, from a hand selected amount of applications

Will there be any favoritism? Like mods only picking one option for a year?

I like this, and on the discussion of stuff like game server location, if you leave that part up to the community it should end up with the servers being in the places where they'll be best. In theory. I hope.
Will there be any favoritism? Like mods only picking one option for a year?
It'll probably be up to a vote, most likely.

Or just have multiple, or use the excess money to buy in the US while I'll host the EU one. I dunno. If the server is going to be in US, might be losing out on EU, and AUS players. But then you can recover those EU players by having a seperate server for them.
fuck knows what you aussies are gonna do though cause your network infrastructure is fuuuuuuuucked.
