we've already addressed that by saying the ban shouldn't have happened. He's a new mod, mistakes happen.
I'm at work right now and to be frank I'm over it as much as everyone else is but I'm gonna straight up say something quick and I'll make something much bigger and more reasonable.
Sure if I fucked up then I fucked up. However this is all in the past and there's still a lot to learn. If you think I'm power hungry nah that's not it I'm very interested in moderating fairness and the right way. You may have forgotten. I'm quite outspoken and brash even with bans but I mean in good faith not bad.
[editline]23rd August 2017[/editline]
And FYI in general calling a mod a fuck with isn't a good idea to begin with. Even if it was a joke. You got in hot water with not just 1 mod so.
Edit 2. We aren't thin skinned and I will admit I tend to go over broad occasionally and this was definitely one of them. Sorry about that fruxodaily.
When I was moderating game servers and handling community matters on other areas, I was taught at the very get go that nobody is above the set guidelines, rules and laws. If an admin on let's say TTT was being a cunt by harassing and abusing members, they would be stood aside, warned and most likely disciplined.
If a Facepunch mod was editing someones post, calling them cunts and being a straight up dick, I'd expect head management to talk to them privately and put them on notice or put them on approved modding for a week or two. Everyone should be punished under the same guidelines.
Now, I'm not saying you abused or harassed me but the posts stated here by other users shows you doing the thing you banned me for. With or without context, that is setting a "bad example to users" which is the very thing Hezzy told me in Discord.
Was I wrong to call you a fuckwit? Certainly, it was a lousy joke that went above everyone. Was your reaction to that joke (within the context that you know who I am and stuff) wrong? I think so, you were given options to either let it slide or do something about it. Of course, you're within your moderation powers to make a decisive and big boy decision on how you wanted to handle my comment. I am not going to lecture you on how you should do your job, we weren't born the same and your fully within your capacity to make decisions, I've never doubted that.
All I'm saying is you should practice what you preach, you've been told this by users in this thread and you've seemed to loaded those comments on with an open mind, in which I thank you that is a really mature thing for you to do.
I accept your apology and I hope this doesn't happen again to me, anyone else and you. I know you love modding and doing this shit, I don't hope to see you stripped anytime soon. I just hope we all learn from this.
Once I got the ability to read other threads in the RC, I realized it's probably a good idea just to not appeal bans. As far as I can tell, you're far more likely to get mocked or have your ban extended if you appeal your case. Better off staying quiet.

Did you ever bother to read their ban reasons, look into the users ban history, and look into the length of time that they've been here? The RC also does not encompass things that happen off forum, in PM's, on the discord, etc. You're missing a lot of context with what you can see in the RC.
If you think you've been banned for wrong reasons it doesn't hurt to post in the RC, and it really only gets extended if you do something exceptionally stupid (barring recent events), though the ol' dog with his tail between his legs bit gets rather old.

Look I know it's popular to go off on mods now but least make valid claims
Yeah, fuck it. I'm wrong. I don't frequent the refugee camp; I suppose my impression probably came mainly from controversial moments over the last year or two, rather than the normal, daily grind of moderation. I went back and started reading each appeal on the last page and there wasn't really anything to see. Ignore me.
I've only tried appealing two of my bans that I remember and one actually got reduced so I can't complain. Most message board communities I've been involved with don't have any appeals process whatsoever.

Some of the recent mod stuff has been bothering me buuut...I read the RC a lot. People who appeal properly and explain themselves usually get a reduction, and if not, they get told why their ban was that way and the banned user usually understands and accepts their ban. The only time I've ever seen mocking is from blatant trolls, outright racist/sexist/etc people, or people who have a huge ban history and got banned for the same shit again. There are some valid criticisms that need to be made but I don't feel like this is one of them. Sorry. :frown:

Yeah, I had that impression as well from older refugee camp threads that would either be mocked, given no sufficient explanation, or completely ignored, but as of the past 6 months, the RC mod responses have been substantially more explanatory.

You're mocked if you make a dumbass request, like if you say "Facepunch mods are all nazis" you're gonna get laughed at and locked, easy. If you make a sensible request whether you're in the right or wrong you will be taken seriously.
Every RC thread I've posted has always been treated properly hands down apart from this slip up but I'm not gonna bag on the entire process just because of a little stupid blunder that has been corrected.

Your zingers are always epic and never bad.
Alternatively, don't be a dickhead and use common sense, those two will go a long way for making you seem like a good poster.

Consulting with someone who has a graphics design background sounds apt to being a good poster.

Don't be a dick, try to be helpful, don't say anything too controversial unless you can back it up, think before you post anything, and be respectful of others' views.
Back onto the topic of official servers, I would love to see Fretta brought back, and I think it would help the community a lot if new gamemodes could be regularly submitted and uploaded. One idea might be to have a repository linking together all the gamemodes hosted and played on the server using git submodules, and having the server automatically update it's gamemodes as and when needed.
The only problem with that idea would be instability or malicious code. Both, however, can be somewhat mitigated by Github's review feature for people wishing to create pull requests.
Don't be a dick
Personally I'd amend this to "don't be a dick without good reason and not if it's the only point of your post." Being a dick when someone's being stupid isn't totally unreasonable, especially if you're still being constructive or otherwise helpful in your post at the same time. It's only really an issue if it's the entire point of your post or if the majority of your posts are like that.

I think the best solution is to program gamemodes independently, then have a Fretta-esc addon solely for gamemode/map voting. Each gamemode's repo can be polled for updates while the server is running.

All my ban appeals were serious. I even argued with Sgt Doom over my Android thread ban because people were acting like dumbfucks and trying to trigger me, so I decided to reply. Guess who got banned? That's right, it wasn't them.
It happened some time ago (15 months?), but I am still questioning whether trying to get someone to flame or get toxic is a cause for not being banned. Imagine if someone gives their opinion and you start flaming the guy until he starts calling you names.
EDIT: all of the replies to my appeals told me exactly why I was banned
This is what happens when you get anime mods.
Here's a real topic:

How many levels of contradictory does PCGamer need to be on and can we nuke the bot already?
I'd just like it if some mods didn't react to criticism or complaints about their behaviour or more questionable/controversial bans with "lol deal with it nerds". Responding to criticism by telling people to kiss your ass serves only to make yourself look like an asshole who can't justify his own actions.
This thread was created so the moderator team are more accountable. It's a bit of a headache sometimes but it does serve a valid purpose
Should we pretend something would have been done about it then?
[editline]11:31[/editline]
moderators should not have that kind of attitude like in the pic i posted. moderators should be open to questions and criticism. instead of saying "i couldn't care less"
Unfortunately when thousands of people share their usually shitty opinions with you on a yearly basis it becomes hard to appreciate the views of others through pure attrition. Not saying it's right, but it is definitely a factor in this kind of behaviour. Something for moderators to be mindful of, it's easier to dismiss than it is to listen.

I've checked the posting history of the bot and most of it seems like legitimate content. Yes it does Sponsored articles every now and then but there's no easy way to filter these out. Please report the sponsored content as "spam" and we'll work to remove it.

I just realized that "get pissed" literally means to get peed by someone else.

Wait.. what? Here in Australia it means getting drunk. Aka getting pissed, or we're gonna get pissed tonight.
