This, I don't get why people keep trying to make it into a no fun zone. My heart dies a little for every pun ban I've seen
Mods gave people an inch and they took a mile, basically.
You probably would have at some point as they shared a controversial opinion on pretty much everything and then got in a loop for 40 pages to defend it probably with snark comments.
To be fair FP was arguably way less liberal/had less outspoken liberal posters back then, their "controversial" opinions are the same opinions you see posted now in SH and agreed with. The reasons they caught flack imo were because instead of sharing their views in a decent way they basically always ended with some smug "lmao good opinion dude" at the end of their comment or something like that.
Mods gave people an inch and they took a mile, basically.
thankfully this never happened again
Can we start scheduling Tudd bans around his vacations
Was there ever a decision to stop banning obvious trolls so as to not appear like a hugbox? I've seen people get banned for stepping over certain lines in the sand but otherwise be fine posting for months even though it's pretty clear they're baiting hard.
What or who is the sanius squad? I keep seeing them mentioned and I don't remember them from when I posted here before.
the gods i pray to every night before going in sh
This, I don't get why people keep trying to make it into a no fun zone. My heart dies a little for every pun ban I've seen
I'd rather a post get 400 funnies than 10 pages of people flinging shit.
I think it's mostly a sign of the times. There was a time where a joke, even one in poor taste, could be taken with a hearty guffaw and some funnies by the community. And yes, people abused it. People went overboard. They were banned. The system worked. But that wasn't the problem. That isn't the problem. We're at a point where everything, even when you stay well outside the knives-and-daggers realm of Polidicks, is polarized, trenchant, is a matter of literal life and death. And I do mean literal life and death, where posters on any side of any particular discussion will remark on a person holding a conflicting opinion as actually, factually getting people killed, or otherwise ruining their lives in some very tangible way. The discussion somehow elevates it self to a point of absurdist existential struggle, two people who have never met, and likely may never meet, fundamentally speaking at each other over a pseudonymous message board with all apparent conviction that the other person, if they don't abandon their belief, even if they live in another country, will endorse some zeitgeist that will bring about the end times and foredoom not just one soul, but all of them. I admit, it's hard not to feel that way about topics ranging from Climate Change to the Migrant Crisis, but it's an infectious attitude. It has an energy to it. Once it takes hold of a few topics, it becomes the de jure attitude of the whole place. That sort of discussion doesn't have much room for jokes with a light heart, or even heavier gallows humor. It just doesn't. That's why we don't have much room for humor, because most people feel this isn't the time for humor. This is the time for lengthy essays, for shoring up the trenches, for getting ready for the great struggle that everyone seems to feel is gathering. It's not Cold War Fever, it's the dire want to actually go out and fight someone because you think that what they believe is so pugnacious that they shouldn't even exist. And it's come to roost here, at a videogame forum.

Before Brexit and Trump, politics was a thing that happened but nothing really changed and people didn't really care. Both of these events naturally shocked people here on FP who are generally young, educated, and left-leaning. People discovered for the first time that their vote actually matters and can lead to outcomes they don't like. The pendulum has swung in the complete opposite direction - from not caring at all to caring too much. Everything seems to have become, as you say, this life and death struggle: I have to challenge everything my 'opponents' say or else bad things happen. On FP though, separating Polidicks from SH has helped a lot. I think there is a place for politics in SH but it should be light-hearted politics threads like this. (Even in that thread, people go all serious bringing in Trump and his vacations - lighten-up!) The punchline to SH is: News gets more informative the more outraged you are by it. I used to go into SH knowing that there would be some outrageous headlines but I understood they were changed for laughs. I wish people would stop taking SH so seriously. I mean, if someone posted the infamous Sonic the Hedgehog post now they would be banned. I want SH to be a refuge from all the super-serious stuff that is currently filling Polidicks, Facebook, and Twitter. Basically, this is a general appeal for people to lighten up (in SH atleast).
nerd
Why not allow sensationalist headlines in Sensationalist Headlines?
why not allow dick pics in polidicks??
why not allow dick pics in polidicks??
Only Political dicks please. So basically nothing but pictures of Anthony Wiener.

For some obscure reason whenever I have facepunch opened videos wont load on my computer at all And only when FP Is opened
why not allow dick pics in polidicks??
dont give me an excuse to make even more threads
dont give me an excuse to make even more threads
If you wanna get in a political dick pic race, I'm sure people would love to make commentary on our further rivalry. :v:
Is the facepunch custom emoticon project still a thing? I made but I'm not sure if that's still happening
For some obscure reason whenever I have facepunch opened videos wont load on my computer at all And only when FP Is opened
This may be a bug in Firefox. I had something similar happen recently where certain pages on Facepunch would flat out break Firefox's ability to play videos unless I restarted it with addons disabled then re-enabled them. (A simple restart of the browser randomly didn't help.)
anyone notice theres a lot less threads in fast threads
anyone notice theres a lot less threads in fast threads
My prayers have been received.
My prayers have been received.
i dont get it what happened rate clocks idc i just want to know
i dont get it what happened rate clocks idc i just want to know
Lmao pics was the biggest traffic generator and it moved to General Discussion because for some reason they changed it so posts in fast threads don't count. Also the lack of posts counting causes people to not want to post there in general.

Unless they reinstated it? I think it's just because Fast Threads is notorious for just having shitty threads. Which, ironically in this case, had made Fast Threads pretty slow recently. [editline]23rd May 2017[/editline] Even Fast Anime was moved out of there. Also, funnily enough, it's pretty slow now that it has a Discord server.
5 years + 2000 posts for Gold membership, they removed posts counting in fast threads because too many people were spamming one word replies and other shitposts in as many threads as they could to get that sweet, sweet gold membership.
Why can I never get gold it's not fair
anyone notice theres a lot less threads in fast threads
Yep. It's interesting how much fast threads has slowed down since post count was disabled. Before if you looked at when the last reply was for the thread at the bottom of page 1 it was usually just at 2 weeks old. Now if you check it the last reply goes all the way to nearly 4 weeks old. People are posting half as much as they did before (outside WAYT which is the same as always). people really wanted to increase their post count I guess lol
post count is equal to dick size dont you know
