Because most of the kids these days watch total shit. So then spongebob has to change to the watchers likings. I love the older episodes but I can't stand the new ones.
Spongebob used to be the shit when I was little.
I think they are having trouble thinking up more events that can happen to spongebob. They can't think of any stories. So they come up with a small concept and stretch it out half an hour.
I'm a Goofy Goober, rock.
Both sides have a valid opinion in here. On one hand we are maturing as an age group and entering adulthood for the most part.
However even if I were to show my 11 year old cousin the older episodes he would agree that there is something different.
I thought we all agreed though awhile back that CN and Nick were both shitty cartoon networks. I won't lie, some shows do have talent. Majority however are just steaming pieces of shit. Is it because we're getting older? That may play a part but quality is quality and to doubt that the new generation vs old generation are the same is stupid. I used to love Spongebob. I even hanged on up till season 6 before I realized that this was shit along with every other show. Perhaps the next generation will have some good shows, doubt it though.
the voice of sponge bob came to mall of america for new years, thats like half an hour away from me, and my friend was talking to him after the show, and he was just starring at her tits, I mean they are massive, but she's 15 and he's like 50 for Christ's sake
:wtc:
You're joking, right?
[editline]10:38AM[/editline]
Yeah I've heard about this. The Movie was supposed to be the end of the show, but Nickelodeon insisted on keeping it running. A good chunk of the original staff, including the creator, was ready to move on and Nickelodeon's determination to keep the show alive wasn't going to stop them. So Nickelodeon hired a bunch of mediocre writers and the rest is history.
Also Spongebob's laugh wasn't annoying when he was actually more than just a yellow block of pure innocence. I'm not sure what to call it, but it wasn't annoying. I didn't mention plankton in my post did I? I find it odd how hard they're trying to push the idea that he's dangerous and evil when he seems like an even bigger failure than he was before. He used to not appear very often, so when he did, it felt like he was actually threatening. Now he just shows up every other episode, often not even intending to steal the recipe until somebody waves it in front of him.
Belive me, it's atrotious. Trying to play MW2 while getting noobtube'd all the time while listining to my little brother watching Spongebob upstairs while that Yellow Fuck keeps laughing like that, well, me, I can't fucking stand it. :argh:
For the first one they used to have jokes. Random shit isn't funny and doesn't offer good plot devices. On this one they attempt to use tartar sauce as a plot device for a time travel episode. Not only is it retarded, but they totally muck up how time travel works. And you know what? Squidward already traveled through time and that was a good episode.
I'm not saying you can't like it. "I don't like it" and "this is bad" aren't always synonymous.
What new perspective? I have been watching this show and other cartoons my whole life. It isn't like I have outgrown it even at age 17. The show has just seemed to dumb itself down.
Somehow Family Guy got along well.

I can feel the brilliance from this post irradiating like the metal being melted and made into coins.
I dont know why but the new Spongebob smile scares me. His new smile werent like the old ones. This:

Sorry for blank space, was in a hurry.
I'm not really sure when it happened, but Spongebob has sucked really hard for the past two years or so. It seems so cheap now. It's like characters are just going through routine on all the new episodes. In the one that is on right now Squidward is teaching a music class at a college. An awkward combination of the episode where he taught Spongebob art and the other episode where he was already teaching a music class. In this particular episode I saw Patrick get into a toy train after an unexplained moment where he shrank down in size to ride it out of the classroom. Not even in a cartoon world does this make sense. And when Squilliam shows up he never een berates Squidward for posing as him to get the teaching job. It is like they are forgetting who the characters are supposed to be very quickly. Spongebob seems to change every episode from being the over enthusiastic kid he is supposed to be to a whiny bitch.
Nickelodeon won't let him die. Seasons 1-3 were great, the first half of Season 4 was meh, second half of Season 4 onwards has been shit.
I saw the aforementioned episode also. When Patrick shrunk down like, I thought "Were they on acid when they made this?"

Agreed.
At least it's watchable unlike 80% of cartoons.

This.

I find it difficult to watch the episodes now. 90% is random bullshit, 9% of it are gay references to Spongebob and Patrick, and 1% are of Squidward being the punching bag.
because his balls finally dropped.

The voice of Spongebob is a dude.
So if you were staring at his tits that's weird, because he's gay.

I don't think you read him right. His friend was 15, the voice actor was 50

Whoops. Well, he's still gay.
None of you read that right. His friend is a girl. The voice actor was staring at her tits.

I know. I'm still calling him gay, just because of how much Spongebob is gay these days.

I loved the ending.

FUUUUUUU-
Time travel paradoxes that somehow work.

i think they gave up that little skit of him.
I think he was the creator and voice of Spongebob originally. But like people have already stated, he left. Spongebob's old voice and Patchy the Pirate going with him.
I know. I'm still calling him gay, just because of how much Spongebob is gay these days.
Yeah the voice actor is totally responsible for ruining the show. :downs:
Because a show can only run so long before it gets old.
Except for The Simpsons.

My favourite episode ever.
ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE.
I still have no clue where Squidward was in that last part. It was like some tripped-out world of nothing.
