People would ask to be banned in the weirdest ways, while some people just requested it straight.
I remember around the 2007 range I was worried about making threads, because it was quite easy to get banned for them.

I never saw the smartness system, but when I looked through one of the older members history I was surprised to see 'banned for 700 days for losing 5000 smartness in a single post'.
I think it would be nicer if we had it back, it would help keep the idiots out.
I think it'd be good if Smartness came back, instead of insta-banning someone for 700 days for losing too much smartness, it delays for like, 30 minutes to let the person correct their post.

I don't think there's ever been a time in Facepunch where there hasn't been people getting all nostalgic and claiming the forum's shit compared to how it used to be. I think the ban-to-shitpost ratio is OK, and as soon as the summer's over the amount of 12 year olds spamming up the forum will decline. I wouldn't be surprised if the "omg Facepunch is in a downward spiral we need moar bans" people are just hopping on a bandwagon so that everyone thinks they're all cool like dat yo.
It's the internet, you're going to get idiots. Facepunch isn't perfect but it's a hell of a lot better than something like /b/.

Five years, Damn, that's a lot. When HL2 got released, december 2004, oh the joys that it brought to me. The first gm_construct, Breen poses all around, low graphics, wondering if it would run on my fx5200, IT FUCKING DID AND IT WAS MARVELOUS.
We didn't knew how happy we were. We didn't knew that was AMAZING.
Also, the way ratings would show on your profile was great.
I [b]really[/b] miss ventilated. He truly did help cull the idiots after the change took place.
