Where did gold membership go? - General

When garry removed 2 year 2k posts. I was just a few days away from getting free gold. Then suddenly Gold had a discount where the price was slashed down to $5 or $10. I can't remember. Had a few bucks to spare so I bought it just so I can have an avatar that blinks. Yep I could have sent that money to african children or something but noooo I spent it so that my avatar blinks.

I don't feel like I've missed out on anything due to not being Gold over the years of FP. There was that one short stint of curiosity for OIFY when I found out it's Gold-exclusive, but by now, I don't give much of a damn anymore. I just enjoy FP for the community (most of it anyway). There are actually sensible people here to talk to.

This is so hilarious Gold members (being that they already have gold) know that its pretty meaningless and gets you no real benefits except being able to use animated GIF avatars, which are pointless when aPNG's do the same job for everyone (and they work in chrome/firefox, which is most users I'd say). Why would anyone seriously want gold? You don't get anything for it. The gold member forum is pretty shitty too, its basically completely dead except for 4-6 threads or so and every single one of them is basically like oify. Occasionally you get interesting things posted there but I never bother anymore. AKA blues want gold just because they don't have it. I don't think we need to bring back gold in any form really, because I know first hand its pretty meaningless, especially since its no longer a sign of rarity when everyone and their mother has it now.
