I think there's quite a chance that Indie rock will become more popular and more mainstream... (which kinda defeats the idea of Indie rock, but whatever)
but of course, it's hard to predict...
All I have to say about the year 2010 is: Prepare for unforeseen consequences
Also Starcraft II comes out :DDDDDDDDDDDD
It will probably be another decade of mediocre, committee-drafted corporate shit.
To be perfectly honest that is what the music business have pretty much been since the 50's.
tupac comes back alive and shows every rapper whats what
Too bad 2pac sold out like the rest of them.
Edit:
Well, every kid wants to be a Dj nowadays.
I've wanted to be a DJ since I left my moms vag. It's just now that I can be one, everybody is or wants to be one. Kinda sucks for me :/
The new Burzum and Gorillaz albums next year
Two words, Thrash Resurgence.

The last thing thrash needs is to be bastardized by becoming mainstream.
We would get shit like "thrashcore"
I'd probably say metal, the metal scene is exploding over here. So many great bands coming up and pushing the boundaries.
Apart from that fucking shitty pop and horrible normal radio, couldn't give a shit about mainstream music to be honest

Okay so name some of these metal bands that are pushing the boundaries?
You and your friends must live in deep Oklahoma if you don't know who Miley Cyrus is. I guess this is biased though, since I'm living in the center of California. States vary.
I live in Oklahoma and EVERYONE knows who Miley Cyrus is.
How can people say Miley Cyrus? she hasn't been around in Australia for 10 years you know.. in the next decade there will be even more shitty music than ever before.
How can music get more shitty? Old genres don't just suddenly disappear. They still exist, and even if there aren't any active bands playing the type of music you want to hear at the moment, that doesn't mean they can't be revived in the future. Music is always moving forward IMO. No one's forcing you to listen to what's on the radio.

Opeth for sure, if mainstream music was as talented as them life would be awesome
Opeth for sure, if mainstream music was as talented as them life would be awesome
Yeah but Opeth isn't modern and new.
They have been around since the 90's so I wouldn't consider they being a band that is "coming up"
Meshuggah kind of music becoming more mainstream in metal. I love the odd/weird but still working riffs and the syncopation/polymeters they use.

Don't care, their early stuff was death metal and now their musical styles and directions are being experimented with
Fuck you if you rated me box
More shit synth stuff that people create without the need of anything more than a computer.

you still need musical talent though

I'd rather have Thrashcore than the shit Disney produces...
I'd rather have something new, not some genre that peaked in the 80s.

I've yet to hear a brand new genre of metal that I like...
I've yet to hear a brand new genre of metal that I like...
I don't think there's much room for a new genre of metal.
I mean short of using electric banjos and triangles, bands have tried pretty much all there is out there.

You just wait..
10'ers.'Nuff said. :smug:
That being said I want more good cyber metal. No shit like Dagoba and Mnemic; I want more Sybreed and A Dark Halo!
:colbert:

One can only dream.
Tool, Meshuggah and Opeth are already starting a new era of metal, something that's beyond the current progressive style of metal.
