A bunch of high school bands that think they're the best god damned thing ever.
Thanks, guitar hero.
According to Rolling Stone Magazine, U2, Radiohead, and Springsteen shaped the decade with their music.
Look at us we can use auto tuner and can DANCE.
omg, THANK YOU!
10's better have good alternative rock I'll go on a killing spree. I think Garage Rock is due for another comeback, I'd better wind some P90's.
The sad thing is... kids at my school don't know who Led Zepplin is or Pink Floyd. But everyone know's lady gaga or Kenya West with there awsome music that repeasts about 20 times.
The sad thing is... kids at my school don't know who Led Zepplin is or Pink Floyd.
pff those old band, why would anyone listen to old music when you can listen to new "better" music :downs:
I never hear much blues influence in mainstream music, and it's very hard to find mordern blues. I really hope that will change.
I never hear much blues influence in mainstream music, and it's very hard to find mordern blues. I really hope that will change.
I'd like to see some R&B (the old phrase, rhythm and blues, not Rhianna) Or just some Blues Rock.
Umm, what? Maybe one or two decades late.
My thoughts exactly.

Those bands had to put in so much more effort to make it in the world at all. It wasn't as simple as putting a $200 recording program on a computer and embracing the auto tuner.
I love Pink Floyd, always have, always will. They we're the band that made me want to be a musician in the first place.
SUDDENLY. Reggae.
That will be funny as shit. But it is pretty sad when kids call the music "gay" no joke a kid said that to me and I punched him in the face. Ironic seeing that most of the songs out there are "gay" literly. But yes they put much more work into there music always pushing it and coming up with there own stuff playing real songs that they feel about. Besides some outher person writing for them. The only regreat in my life is that I wasn't born sooner to see them live. My father on the outher hand got to see all the greats such as Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin,Lynyrd Skynyrd,The Who, Alice Cooper, and many outhers he hasn't told me about.
Possibly an upsurge in Post-Rock, that wouldn't be the worst thing ever. I really hope pop-punk will die. Even though I'm not a big fan of punk, I have a special hatred for that genre, as it's so antithetical o the original construction of punk music.
Faith No More reunion in the US in late 2010
Let's see, What we'd be known for is Rap, Some shit bands. Eh? Really, You'll listen to what you'll listen to. I can accept Rap as long as it's not the repetitive main-stream shit we got now.
Resurgence of Doom Metal. Black Sabbath reunion. Electric Wizard opening for them. :350: [editline]09:49AM[/editline] It's only the next logical step after weed is legalized.
Why do you all care what becomes mainstream? There's no point complaining that too many people listen to music in which there is barely any talent. Just listen to what you want.
The last 10 years have been barren as far as a genre is concerned. File sharing and the media have killed it all off. Nobody is investing in new music, it doesn't bring in the returns is used to do. The internet will not carry new music. Grunge, nu-metal, garage bands and all those other scenes all had their moment. I can't think of anything in the last 5 years where a group of bands have become culturally important. Why is there a hatred of mainstream music?

[editline]08:41PM[/editline] I don't see why everyone's trashing the naughties; we've had some gems. I think this is how music will be for a while. There'll be a lot of crap, but there'll be some pretty good music too. And that's true of all decades - we only look back at, say, the Seventies through rose-tinted glasses because we only listen to the good music from the seventies. There was just the same trash:good ratio as there is now - for every Cream there were three Middle Of The Roads. You're just not hearing them all on the radio every day. Give it twenty years and the autotune shit will be forgotten and people will go "Wow, Indie!"
In Australia at least, the naughties were remembered for the obscene amount of rap that went on, I suppose it borrows heavily off American mainstream, but there was so much rap compared to other genres. I'm predicting a lot more Owl City/Postal Service type stuff this decade.
I would love to see post-rock come into the spotlight. So many amazing bands to listen to and so few get any recognition for their talent.

[editline]03:04PM[/editline] Oi, we really need someone to make a BTBAM thread, and it ain't gonna be me.
So far this year will kick ass, theres about 2 or 3 albums getting released by Devin Townsend and he's playing at bloodstock. Good first year for this decade so far.
Nu-metal might make a comeback. Spineshank, Korn, Limp Bizkit & Deftones(even though they stopped being nu-metal back in 2000) are working on new albums. [editline]05:48PM[/editline] Also, new Nine Inch Nails material!
Yeah man hannah mawntannah@!@!!!! [editline]11:26PM[/editline] btw slipknot blows
Return of Thrash metal, It already happened technically but suddenly there seems to be a lot of new Thrash bands popping up here and there.
Thousands of bands in each genre have formed in the 10's. There are more subgenres than ever. There is something for everybody! The 10's has been the best music decade yet. By far.
The 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's would like to have a word with you. And hit you across the face with a bag of cinderblocks. Hopefully the return of GOOD metal, like 70s-80s metal. I like the songs from that era.
