It's going to be in Florida. 41+ people voted for Florida. That's that. No debate. No arguing. It's in Florida. I'll start looking at places to host it Friday. I'll be too busy tomorrow to look. Work and class all day.
Here's me subtlely hinting at Fort DeSoto.
Yeah that place was really nice. Lots of sand dollars, too. And apparently during the night conch shells wash up. We might be able to get some if we go beach combing real early.
Hng fuck I'll shit myself if we go to Fort deSoto. An hour away from me and I used to go to the beach every Sunday when I was, like, 5. This is gonna be AMAZING.
I'd like to say Pensacola. That's easily possible for me, I've been there several times before.
Wish I was 18 right now, I'm right in Kentucky where it would be easy to get to the states you selected.
I'm thinking it'll be Fort DeSoto state park, on the West coast of Florida near St. Petersburg / Tampa. Really nice place. Beach camping, calmer waters (gulf beach), SHITLOADS of sand dollars and even conch shells in the early morning. What do you guys think
Would totally do this if it was in my state.
Well it isn't. Sorry. Saying that isn't going to make it in your state either. So don't. [editline]3rd February 2012[/editline] Also according to your profile you're 39. That's a bit old to go camping with young adults from the internet.

Aye
So come on you prats what do you think about Fort DeSoto? It's on the Western coast of Florida in Tampa Bay, not far from St. Petersburg and Tampa.
Well Fort DeSoto is out. Those assholes don't allow 'Organized group camping'. What the fuck? Assholes.
I live in Georgia so I might be able to go to Florida for this.
A lot of people want this near the Panhandle. I was thinking St. Andrews State Park. I'm going to call them tomorrow and get some quotes on group camping. It looks absolutely lovely. Sugar sand and 'emerald green water'.
St. Andrews is out. They charge $31.22 per site and only allow a maximum of 2 tents and 3 people per site. What the fuck?
I slept in a 2 man tent with 4 people in it, twas a good night.
I'm going to see about Camp Lanoche. Used to go there as a kid all the time. I hope they let non scout groups camp there because it was awesome.
So what's the word?
They haven't called back yet. I think the office is closed Monday and Sunday. It'd be nice if you guys could offer suggestions it's not exactly easy finding good places by looking at google maps.
I don't know of many in Florida, and you already mentioned the two places I could think of.
I don't know of many in Florida, and you already mentioned the two places I could think of.
how long are you planning to be camping for? group rates are usually 50 per 24 hours for 50 people or under
The dates are in the OP. But what are you talking about?
Camp Lanoche is out. They only allow non-scout group camping if it's something like a Church group or some other group with a Certificate of Liability. However they gave me the number to Clearwater National Forest which is right across the street from them so I gave them a call.
Okay so I'm having a hard time finding anything good in Florida I might consider moving it to Georgia. Someone told me about Black Rock Mountain State Park in Georgia. I remember it from when I was a child. They actually offer some really cool group camping things here I'm looking at the: Group Camps Summer Camp Fun, Group Lodges, and the Pioneer Camping. The Group Camps provide rustic “cabins” with bunk beds, large kitchens, dining/assembly rooms, restrooms with hot showers, activity areas and, usually, swimming facilities. The Lodges provide one large facility with dormitory sleeping quarters for 12 to 50, restrooms with hot showers, and a kitchen and dining area. And the Pioneer camping provide a large spot for group tent camping and provide water spigots and pit toilets, and some have covered picnic shelters and grills. These primitive campsites will not accommodate RVs or trailers and do not provide showers. So it's going to be a rating vote of sorts. Group Camping - Rate Agree Group Lodges - Rate Winner Pioneer Camp - Rate Heart
Woa shit I just found this and it sucks too, it's right on my birthday and i'm in nc, but i can't go
Did you ever check out Fort DeSoto? It took over a whole island now, and they seem pretty cool. I know they used to be cool for large parties, but haven't checked them out lately. Also for those who like seafood I'm boss at fishing+fileting.
what about this? http://www.floridastateparks.org/staythenight/camping.cfm
Three parks offer group facilities camping, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, O’Leno State Park and Wekiwa Springs State Park.
When will we get a Facepunch Sweden meetup? :(
Go organize one. Won't be too hard, I'm sure. Sweden is pretty small.
