It won't, if it happens.
Worst case scenario it's a minority and race relations are set back 50 years.
[editline]4[/editline]
What I mean by minority is pretty much who isn't a straight white male moderate or left leaning male. (Hate using that term, but it's true)
If a woman does it, goodbye feminism.
If a liberal or someone on the left does it, hello suppression of dissenting opinions.
If someone of non-white skin color does it, goodbye race relations for that particular race.
If someone who is LGBT does it, goodbye LGBT rights.
And if someone with GOP affiliation does it?
This was interesting. It reminds me of Executive Orders by Tom Clancy where the head of CIA becomes president
Its really fucking weird though.
I think the approach is just a bit off, like they chose the wrong wording, not threatening so much as it is implying this is a high threat in the first place
like it's JUST enough hypothetical posturing that if some catastrophe DID happen at the inauguration, the conspiracy theory will immediately start with whoever wrote this
how DARE you even claim that our immortal god and emperor trump could ever be harmed, flagged!!!
Who is in the line of succession is interesting, but this is just completely tactless.

What if a white guy does it like every other Presidential assassination?
[editline]20th January 2017[/editline]
Like the last guy who came close to killing a President was doing it to get a lesbian to like him. Presidential assassinations aren't always political.
designated survivor is a good show tbh
Fake news.

This sounds like the plotline to a bad comedy movie.
I'm curious about this. Do you have a link to the story?

John Hinckley Jr. shot Reagan in an attempt to impress Jodie Foster, although he didn't know she was a lesbian at the time.

I'm really liking it so far, but having seen House of Cards it feels somewhat naive, parts of it have felt like a by the numbers crime drama, other times all the characters hanging out in a room reflecting on the day almost gave the scene the same sort of feeling I'd get from hanging out in the common room with my friends back when I was in sixth form.
The politics is neat, but other parts aren't. The further we get into the series the less and less it becomes about a non ambitious caring father and husband thrust into politics, which imo is the interesting part, it gives us a nice parallel from the normal snakelike politicians we see on TV.

i dont mind the parts where everyone is casual and hanging, it puts a human feel onto people who we'd otherwise just think are heartless and cold. Public servants can sometimes be arseholes but when you sit down with them they're just like you and me
i just love really the workspace they have with this show, so much freedom and questions they can answer and theyve been portraying it good so far. They give me a good sense of what would actually happen if that did happen you know

I get that too, I've really been enjoying it. I think I liked those scenes, I just can't put my finger on it but something about the way they played it made them feel almost... teenaged, which as someone who is teenaged was at least a bit disconcerting.

Until it became a conspiracy show

I love Keifer Sutherland, and I loved the show.
Not sure how far they can stretch the plot though.
i thought designated survivor was the one person the SS doesnt kill when they're firing indiscriminately into a crowd where they think an attacker is
It seems that even with this, CNN is still taking it less seriously than the US government actually is. I don't watch CNN for pretty obvious reasons, but honestly I don't see anything so tasteless about this. They're not even talking about Donald Trump being shot or something, this is bipartisan terrorist attack scenario.
