thank the gamer gods i've been waiting for a game where i can disarm an extendo bar and use it to beat the everliving fuck out of someone i hope the story in this one is significantly longer than the first,
The part showing Faith getting her tattoos kinda made it look like it's going to be a prequel.
The description of the video says it's gonna be Faith's origin story
Official announcement teaser for the new Mirror's Edge game for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Play through the origin story of Faith and explore the city with an unprecedented level of freedom of action and movement. Learn more at www.mirrorsedge.com
!!!
judging by the fact she's getting her iconic tattoos in the video it's a prequel, possibly leading up to "that fall" that "took you out of commission for a while" you hear about in the tutorial level of the original
There's some continuity issues surrounding that. The prequel comics say she was shot, the iphone game says she was thrown in jail and the game says she fell. I doubt they'll do a prequel, since her origins were already covered in the comics and the iphone game. Edit: Oh nevermind it is a prequel. Meh, as long as they do the story right. They kind of wrapped it up with the end of ME1 anyways.
i find it hilarious that theres no '2' anywhere. Are they seriously just calling it Mirrors Edge?

We never get to Callaghan, we're branded terrorists, the city's surveillance system is offline, and Lieutenant Miller (apparently a very highly respected officer) is killed by PK Mercenaries. Plus there's the whole "PK are going to replace you" element, it'd be interesting to see CPF react to that.
I'm relieved it's a prequel, the first game's storyline was shit and continuing it would've sucked.

The story was pretty forgettable and I would have been a lot happier if the game was just a string of delivery missions. Despite being a runner, you only deliver a package in the very first mission. Even before this got announced, I was hoping they would just start over if they made a new game.
But her outfit looks sleeker and more modern with the vests--it could just be a younger Faith, I don't know.

If it's really as open world as they say, then it'd be pretty sweet having to dodge the CPF and PK's as we deliver some of our packages. There would be the News Helicopters that we'd have to dodge (because in ME1 they're actually more like scouts for PK operating under the guise of news helicopters). I'm hoping there will be more street level action. One of my favourite parts in the game is that part where you get close to the ground briefly, you run across a skybridge as police cars slide in, PK's open fire and citizens run screaming.
Looks like EA is going to have another golden year (2008).
It really seems like they are trying really hard to appease the players and fix their shitty PR. I mean seriously, Mirror's edge 2 is mentioned several times by DICE over the past two years as a dead, blocked project they really wanted but couldn't work on, Battlefront 3 is leaked and everyone just drools over it and the slight hope of a it ever coming out, and EA from the bottom of its pit just suddenly decides to buy the licence for Battlefront 3 and actually set Mirror's Edge 2 in motion. And to be honest that's really enough for me to be happy so far. [editline]11th June 2013[/editline]
I want more missions where we have to deliver something from A to B. It's possible to speedrun the first game in a bit less than a hour, and this time would be reduced to 50 minutes if it wasn't for the in-level loading times that get more and more frequent towards the end of the game. [editline]11th June 2013[/editline] Hope the game comes with more modding support too. The first one has like two notable mods, one of which turns you into a cop (and glitches combat out), the other changes the prologue/tutorial mission to a prelude where you get to see how faith hurt her leg in the first place.
Off topic for a second, is Battlefront 3 that game was was cancelled at the very last second even though it was 99% finished?
This looks awesome, too bad I haven't played the first one yet though.
This looks awesome, too bad I haven't played the first one yet though.
The story isn't great, but the gameplay is amazing. The maintenance areas of The Shard remind me of a Citadel / Portal type deal. It was beautiful.
Off topic for a second, is Battlefront 3 that game was was cancelled at the very last second even though it was 99% finished?
I don't think it was that near completion, but it was pretty damn advanced.
I'm so happy right now. Can I be the ticket conductor in the hype train?
Please have Oculus Rift support, please have Oculus Rift support...
Oh jesus that would be disorienting and scary as fuck.
but she got them in the trailer
FAITH got them in the trailer. It's a prequel.
So... anybody know the name of the song used in the teaser? Or if it's part of the game's OST?
I swear to god this better be more about parkour than combat.. looking at that teaser it seems to be more focused on combat :(
"Coming... When it's ready" You mean when the Xbox One comes out.
So... anybody know the name of the song used in the teaser? Or if it's part of the game's OST?
it sounds like the same artist that did the soundtrack for the previous game, so that would be solar fields iirc. its probably an entirely new soundtrack
There's honestly not a whole lot you could do past the "city in uprising/rebellion" plotline that could be done, though.
To be honest that seems damn cool as well. A city like that with riots and things on fire? You've made that yourself in 2019, you of all people should know how cool it can look.
