Not sure why I recall the shuttle bay being at the bottom, oh well. My memories of the donut station days aren't very good anyway so I don't know which version I played. Most likely 2 though. I do remember devstation (or something very much like it, singularity was on the bottom on a separate rig with no atmosphere, arrivals on left, shuttle on right) though, had my best round there. I think the main reason I haven't gotten into ss13 since then is the effort of learning the new maps
I remember this old gamemode where the crew was hunted by like a supernatural monster who had like a few items that had to be destroyed to make it vulnerable to damage, one round I just hid a locker the whole thing. Good times. Anyone else remember that? It was called Welder I think?
first time i played ss13, my friend was teaching me pretty much how to gas the entire station. meanwhile someone was creating a cosby virus. they came through the vents.
I made 3 servers over the last 5-6 years, first one being Facepunch Station that someone else took over, after that SpacePunch Station that got quite some Facepunch players followed with Anarchy Station which was basically a admin-less server. Good times :v: [editline]6th October 2016[/editline] The background music for those that can remember it
Pretty much because it wasn't much of a game for awhile, more like a science sim. Also explains why byond was a great choice for the original creators at the time imo, byond simplifies a lot of things like not requiring you to write any networking code, which hurts responsiveness and performance, but for sims and roleplay games that are made with byond, shit doesn't matter. like just look at this old 2006 screenshot of the station [thumb]https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7320/14089610823_d198b5db86_o.png[/thumb] whole lotta science and atmos stuff, ain't no shitcurity or antags yet. Reading through any server's code is pretty interesting
This actually isn't the original creator's design. That map was after Exadv1 stopped coding. Also security is there, It's the small area above and right of atmos surrounded by reinforced wall. Only 4 lockers of sec equipment. The 5th locker was forensics equip if I remember right. Someone managed to make a map substitute and there were a few different maps out then. Eventually someone from SA(I think it was a goon at least) managed to reverse engineer the code and Ex said go ahead with it. From what I remember there were several branches out there. Android Data made the version that had the Welder game mode in it. Bay12 and SA also started some code bases. I think Soraku and Zjm started a short lived one too. I still have some of the old stuff around. Even a version from April 2004(With a fun bug that let you spam fire extinguishers until the entire map was full of blue mist.), and I think I have the last version Ex released. A lot has changed since then. Engineering was basically cosmetic. You could burn plasma in it, but it there wasn't really a power system. There was also a (poorly implemented) CTF game mode.
Do you think you could hook me up with your April 2004 copy? I archive old copies of the game for fun and so we don't forget the past.
Here's a 2003 copy http://www.mediafire.com/file/37jbksklik1d09g/Old+SS13+-+Late+2003.zip
Worth noting (not sure if they compile at the moment) that the Goon release has a couple of the old maps.

Can't even open them in the map editor. Does that mean the old maps are gone forever now?

This is the last stable build we had with mapsub included(Date on the dmb is Oct 2007) https://mega.nz/#!Wo5k3TJI!0-GmiGHhTUupyIpGYYMm34tuLYWISQLuKjii3LooJvQ If you want to mess around with CTF, in the admin panel there's a show ctf button that'll change the game mode. Fire extinguishers were fun [t]http://i.imgur.com/ccreV3X.jpg[/t]
