Those poor library-goers are just trying to have a theological debate through their mutual severe brain damage when they're suddenly both struck down and cursed with the form of a beast, then forced to race against each other while being pelted with toxic waste. This is less likely the doing of the Holy Trinity and more likely the wicked work of the great god Pan.
