They have a laser cutter at my high school. Don't know if my college has one though. Sparkfun.com just had free day, each person get $100 of free stuff, and they were giving away $100,000 of free stuff the past 2 hours but the site got over loaded and only lucky people could even get on the site. I was hopping to get parts for the arduino.
we are using these at vocational school a lot
Awesome, i bought my Arduino Starter Pack a few days ago, it's being shipped right now. I CAN'T WAIT! I bought mine at www.adafruit.com. They are epic.
Personally I've been using parallax for a couple of years: http://www.parallax.com/
I remember we did a group project with a kit from them in 9th grade. the boe-bot [editline]01:36PM[/editline] Still upset I couldn't get $100 of free stuff from sparkfun.
I am going to school for computer engineering. We use pic chips.
I started working on a module for Garry's mod so that you can communicate with your Arduino via LUA. I also started working on a little shocker project so that if you get hurt in game it turns one of the digital output pins which turns on a relay to activate a 9v circuit powering a little component which shocks you if you touch it. Thats an awesome idea.
Holy crap this look awesome. I'm currently doing a systems and control GCSE at school and this looks really interesting.
I have been wanting to buy an Arduino for a long time but I haven't because I can't decide which one to get. It seems like there are so many different versions of the board. Is the "Arduino USB Board" just the standard Arduino? What's so good about the Arduino Mega / Mini's?
Oh man. I am suddenly reminded of how much I fucking loved Robot Wars. Oh shit. Just the idea of assembling a team to build a robot to battle other robots... and it actually worked. I started grinning uncontrollably at the start of the match. God that show was so awesome.
It's wiremod in real life.
This looks pretty cool.
I want to see the most advanced thing created with this. If it's impressive, I'll probably start doing these things! Can you make like, advanced tools and such for your computer? :v:
Laser Harp
I somehow knew that's what the video would be before I clicked it. Also, this: I've got the Mega myself, and it's awesome. Right now I have an AI-controlled match of Pong running on my desk. Here's an older version of it: I'm thinking of making an interface to hook the arduino up to my TV, so that I can make a roguelike with it.

I'm not too clued up on this kinda stuff, but it's really easy to get into. p.s. I own an Arduino Duemilanove.
I just bought the Arduino :D Got it in a pack on Amazon for $50 (breadboard, jumpers, leds, resistors, etc). Seems like a good deal, since it's $100 for a BASIC STAMP one at radioshack D: I just learned C++ in school, so this'll give me some applications! I mainly use VB.net for windows apps, I'm more comfortable with it. Speaking of radioshack, I have that exact electronics kit :P
It's wiremod in real life.
Man, That's what I thought when I bought it. Infact here's what I thought: "Hey, This is like E2 in wiremod!"
I bought one a while ago, all I did was make an LCD that I can print messages to and forgot about it. Gotta find some sweet projects to do. I really don't understand how bread board works though, so it doesn't help much :(

My Arduino stuff arrived today. It is awesome.
Would this be good to get? http://www.coolcomponents.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=50&products_id=269 or what about this... http://www.oomlout.co.uk/arduino-starter-kit-ardx-p-183.html?gclid=CIiJ1OaEmJ8CFeZr4wodzVYzJw or this http://www.robotbits.co.uk/arduino/arduino-explorer-kit/prod_45.html
Man I so would want to make an UAV.

So yeah go with the first kit you linked if you're condisering it (http://www.coolcomponents.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=50&products_id=269).
Holy balls this looks awesome. What do I need to start?
http://www.canakit.com/arduino-starter-kit.html This good? Also what kind of power do you give it, must it always be plugged in USB or can you plug some kind of battery?
http://www.canakit.com/arduino-starter-kit.html This good? I believe all boards have a power jack. But there is also a pin which also allows you to power it. You'd need to be careful though, wouldn't want to fry the components by putting too high a voltage :O! I'm going to get a few flex sensors and make a glove which can be used to control my mouse! :O
I want a laser harp. :saddowns:
WIP, plan on hooking up an Arduino/Ardupilot to have it follow waypoints or return to home when I loose radio contact. [editline]08:15PM[/editline] 'nother

I bought from Oomlout myself, ordered Thursday night, arrived this morning, great service. I got the Arduino Budget Starter Kit from there plus a bunch of extras, very happy with it.
