After all the crocs and snakes and alligators I've dealt with over the years... Egotistical prick.
Hahaha
I don't know why people would say he's fake. It's like every time you've got a camera crew with you something is fake. Mantracker, Man vs Wild, etc. It's not like he's going to set up some cameras while he fights a fucking alligator with a knife. And I'd like to see anyone in this thread do the shit he does.
Everything he does isn't true but it shows the situation and what you can do about it. He's a good guy and it's very entertaining to watch
[editline]holy lord[/editline] Wow I just stumbled on a 2 year old post I made totally on accident I almost never even read this subforum what the hell
fuck y'all. id love to go to a shitty place and try and survive for no reason
Fake show, he's full of shit.
You guys calling him fake are morons. Everything he does is extremely dangerous, and he has been close to death countless times. Yes, he has a team of medics on standby, but that dosn't make the shit he does any less dangerous. You just expect him to survive all alone while doing crazy shit like he does without any backup incase it goes wrong? Wake up. He is as "real" and "badass" as you could possibly be allowed to be on TV, without it being banned.
i glanced and saw this on tv, i laughed
Up until I saw this comment, I thought the OP was talking about Navi, the fairy from Ocarina of Time. [editline]06:18PM[/editline] That's why I prefer survivorman. He doesn't do stuff for show, he does it because it's what he has to do in that situation. [editline]06:20PM[/editline] He gets dropped into realistic situations, and shows you what you can do if one of these situations happens to you.
Plus you know it's real because he's dropped out a few times because he got sick/bit/etc.

Wouldn't Navi just be having unrealistically large eyes. He just looks all swollen, that's all
I didn't even realize how old this thread was until I saw one of the videos posted was taken down. I'm glad I'm not allergic to bees. Still scared of anything with a stinger though.
He kind of looks like Shia Labeouf
How is he a fake? The point of the show is for him to describe how to survive if you were in that situation.
go watch survivorman
Bear Grylls > Survivorman
That's why I prefer survivorman. He doesn't do stuff for show, he does it because it's what he has to do in that situation. Forgetting about the "Better drink my own piss" meme (which he even endorsed), he always thanks the fans on Twitter. "Really into <x of his shows! @beargrylls" "Thanks, enjoy!"
How is he a fake? The point of the show is for him to describe how to survive if you were in that situation.
I like the show and Bear Grylls, but you should never do what he does.
Oh. I'm only two years late right?
I like the show and Bear Grylls, but you should never do what he does.
Which is what, in your opinion?
Which is what, in your opinion?
I for instance sleep in animal carcass every night.
I for instance sleep in animal carcass every night.
I thought they smelled bad on the outside
Which is what, in your opinion?
Climb up and down cliff faces, jump in icy waters, wander into caves hoping he can find his way out another way, stuff like that
How come every time this guys' mentioned, you guys have to go on a rant about how he's a phony? It's a show, that's it. It's entertaining and that's all a show needs. And some of the situations he gets himself into is dangerous and he does show nice little tricks you might need in those situations. And stop mentioning Survivorman. Yes, he actually goes out into the nature and gets his ass into dangerous situations, unlike Bear Grylls, but they are two different shows and we don't need to be reminded "how much better Survivorman is" compared to Bear Grylls. Jesus.
I just find Bear a hugely more likeable guy and for this reason I find his show hugely more watchable
Wasn't he in the SAS?
He was in the reserves, training's different and stuff. Oh Christ this thread is late.
He was in the reserves, training's different and stuff. Oh Christ this thread is late.
he was in the reserves, but he was deployed in zambia, where his parachute malfunctioned he was told it was likely he'd never walk again a year later, he was the youngest english man to climb mount everest
Saw this on tv, the idiot kept his eyes uncovered so he pretty much asked for it.
How does one do a complicated maneuver with their eyes covered...?
Holy shit, shut the fuck up about Bear Grylls being 'fake'. He isn't 'fake', because that isn't what the fucking point of the show is. The fucking camera crew being there is an implied point. It's entertainment, with some decent knowledge for if you DO actually get stuck in a bad situation. It's like calling a fucking biology teacher fake because he's teaching you about lions and not actually running from lions in fucking Africa.
Does Anyone even know Rüdiger Nehberg anymore? He's the only legit survivalist I know. He's got no show, no financial backing and no contract with anyone but human rights organisations. He's written some great books, though, mostly on survival with no tools whatsoever, as in, being naked in the jungle or globetrotting survival, as in what to do when you get imprisoned in a country that doesn't exactly value human rights, like he when he got imprisoned in jordan for trying to cross a border. Some of his greatest stunts were crossing the atlantic on a 350 year old fir tree (no partner, no cameras, no rescue crew, no bullshit) and surviving 3 weeks after being dropped into the brazilian rainforest with no equipment whatsoever. He was actually declared missing and assumed dead, but made it through the jungle at last. I've met him once at one of his speeches, he is a pretty cool guy and he gave me one of his books. He might not be a media sensation, but he is still one of the greatest survivalists for me.
