If you're looking for a group I'm gonna be the 4th person or so to recommend FPARMA. This stuff happens!

Related to the video, THE RAILGUN TANK BETTER BE THERE DWARDEN!
O shit, Tank DLC! I am hyped, tanks always felt shitty and WWII-y in ARMA, but it looks like they're giving them actual targeting and shit now!

They added proper ACE-style FCS for tanks on devbranch

I can already hear people crying "tanks op pls nerf" on pub servers
Ever since I bought ARMA 2 I've never played multiplayer.
I had a shitload of time fucking around in the editor though
Its like gmod

Same here, with both Arma 2 and 3

If you like playing with the editor (if that includes making missions as well), you could join FP ARMA and make missions for us to play.
Gives you an opportunity to play MP with a group of people as well.

All I do is spam 100 planes with 100 tanks and make em fight
If you want that sure
I'd love to play arma but it's just so fucking clunky that it really scares me away from it.

Arma 3 is a LOT less fucky than 2 was, and you pretty quickly get used to using the stance system
I've tried getting into ARMA so much, but it's so confusing. I've got the game and everything but I barely touch it, cause I'll join a server and have no idea what to do. I joined one of those Altis Life servers and it was just full of weirdos. When I joined a clan, they were super tryhards and took the game too seriously to the point where 90% of the time was spent organizing and roleplaying instead of actually going out and doing missions.
What would you lot recommend to help me get into the game and enjoy it?
A good introduction to ARMA is Invade and Annex all day long, it's PvE with easy to follow missions , where you can fuck up and fail, but not feel like you're ruining the game for everyone else. It's a good place to learn how to be a useful player and learn how the enemy AI operates by default without zeus (game master) intervention. There's plenty of servers running it all with vary degrees or seriousness and regimentation, some require you to be in a squad, play your role to the letter and follow orders down to a T, others are pretty much Call of Duty free for all's where you can do what ever the hell you please with a sembalnce of teamwork, and there's plenty of servers inbetween. It's easy to jump in and out of as well and most importantly it's mod free, you learn the absolute basics of the vanilla game first.
Give that a go for a while and then i'd highly suggest you find a group to play missions and mods with, otherwise you're missing out on most of what A3 has to offer.
Mods are more friendly to manage than locking some content behind a 35 us dollar paywall

If BI's DLC policy is unfair, it's only unfair to them. You can even bypass the restrictions on entering vehicles via the editor or debug console, and as for weapons and gear you can just use arsenal at the expense of putting up with the obnoxious screen overlay. Each DLC has come with new features for everyone who owns the base game, and use of DLC content in missions doesn't lock anyone out of anything but crewing the vehicle (You can still jump in as passenger) or picking up the weapon/item in question. The only thing that does is APEX's Tanoa, and its objects (But still not vehicles or weapons) if used on a separate terrain. For the amount of content and mechanics that have been added since A3's release, you'd be looking at several hundreds of dollars, with absolute lockouts if it were an EA game for example.
If I had a cent for each time I, or my friends have complained about been barred from picking up Apex DLC in Stratis Wasteland, I could probably buy it myself
That being said, it's absolutely unclear as to which each restriction method takes place, because I own all the other dlc in the first place. I

If I could hot swap 100% unusable weapons for something I at least could use, while keeping the balance of the game, I'm fine with that.
I wouldn't recommend playing altis life to be honest, it's basically darkrp but people that play it are not kids and teens but seriously autistic adults that roleplay it like it's their life. Try something else like invade and annex or try something on the official servers but don't do altis life.
also remember i'm around reading all the complains ;)
and you can jump on https://discord.gg/arma to find help with game, scripting, modding or players to play

For reference: Dwarden is one of the community guys from BI, he hangs around here, makes winky faces, lots of winky faces.

Is Wasteland in ARMA3 any good? Missions with community groups are all well and good, but Wasteland felt great for quick pick-up-and-play style games with a couple friends, since you can pretty quickly drop into a server and get rolling with shenanigans (at least, that's how it felt in A2). Some of my best PC gaming memories are from hilariously botched missions me and my friends went on in Wasteland servers :v:
I've been meaning to pick up A3 for ages since I love A2 to death, and A3 looks like its a really solid iteration on A2 that fixes a ton of the mechanical issues with the previous game.
You should check out Dynamic Recon Ops and Dynamic Combat Ops on A3 workshop.
I've decided to give Recon Ops a go - you weren't wrong, it's very good.

best thing about mbrdmn's missions is that they always seem to offer something new the next time you play. I also highly recommend getting ASR AI when playing them, it makes it much more fun.
Tbh I feel like APEX moved towards the kind of futuristic stuff arma was originally supposed to have, and I really like that. I mean, there's already everything modern era as high quality mods by the community, BIS should start adding all the original concept sci-fi things.
Also, the C-130/V-22 bastard child VTOL with gunship variant is the best thing.
The only thing I don't like is that most of the new vehicles are so difficult to counter as infantry that it's hard to design missions around them without it being all-out vehicular warfare.
Even the artillery have remote operated GMGs so they can pick you off without exposing the gunner.

A single Titan AT can ruin nearly any vehicle though. Pop out of cover, lock the target, fire and get back in cover. There's absolutely nothing they can do about it.

Once you get used to Stance Adjust, you'll want it in every other FPS.
