My Dad's friend drove his car off a cliff and broke his legs (my Dad was in the car). No joke.
My dad went hunting, he was going over an iced lake and fell through. When he came home he was wet, our dog had dragged him out of the water.
Your dad's dog was a hero.

My mother met Saif Gaddafi, Donny Osmond, Prince Andrew and Mohamed Al-Fayed (naturally) when she worked in Harrods. Not at the same time, obviously. Also a Saudi prince She lived just around the corner from the Iranian Embassy siege

My great-granded fixed spitfires. That's probably the most interesting thing about my family.
a donkey bit my father's nose
Well my dad has a bunch of great stories about Vietnam, but I'm not sure if those count.
My dad got stabbed in the cheek with a needle by his best friends sister when he knocked on their door once, don't know why but hey ho.
I have the highest admiration for my dad. Accidentally detonated a car battery in his face, soaking him in battery acid. (Drove self to hospital) Got finger sliced off by a log slicer, finger still held on by a small piece of skin, which he ripped off. Never got the finger back. (Drove self to hospital) Was in Vietnam. I think I can attribute some of his badassness to his experiences there. Has never shed a tear in as long as I have been alive.. Perhaps as long as he has been alive? Just an all around beast.
snip fuck there's a page 1
My Dad helped to invent the SA80, the first version of the gun the UK uses now. My Dad had a friend who was quite mental and was a merc in africa and even kidnapped a president, he also tried to poison my dad with paint thinner to see how well it'd work he lost his sense of smell from being tear gassed too many times for SCIENCE
My dad told me about a time when he was working Highway Patrol and was pursuing a guy on a dirt bike who was speeding. He cut off the road into a park and went onto a dirt trail, where he hit a rock and flew off his bike. He went about five feet in the air and was impaled straight through the stomach by a branch. The guy died nearly instantly. He's also told me plenty of other fascinating stories about working law enforcement, but I don't feel like typing on and on.
Back when my mom lived alone in an apartment with my two siblings (before I was born), this big, black guy who lived in the opposite block, broke in and had a fight with my mom, and tried to abduct my sister, who at that time was 13. My mom got hit in the jaw really hard and broke it I think, and (I don't remember the whole story), he tried to escape at some point because they had called the police, and then he got caught trying to escape by two police dogs. It was a really tough time for them.
My great-uncles were in two wars; the older one was in the Navy in the Pacific at the end of WWII and apparently later flew bombers delivering napalm strikes in Vietnam, and the younger one was a fighter pilot in Vietnam. He was shot down twice, and was captured the second time. He now wears an eye patch with an American flag embroidered into it. My grandfather was a courier in London during the Blitzkrieg, I think; he ferried either high-ranking officers or messages around the city during bombing raids or blackouts or something. I presume it took a lot of courage to drive in pitch darkness with bombs falling around you.
My dad's favorite movie when he was my age was Heavy Metal. I think that's pretty rad Also, my mom grew up in the ghetto without a father and is making somewhere around 100k to this day :v:
dude no way that's like the same story as my parents [editline]23rd September 2011[/editline] (it's funny because he's my brother) [editline]23rd September 2011[/editline] also our mom got shot with a BB in the knee as a kid while she was playing in a cardboard box with a target painted on it lol
This thread has made me realize something, I don't have anything really neat to tell my future kids. My Dad used to be a dirt bike racer though.
This thread has made me realize something, I don't have anything really neat to tell my future kids. My Dad used to be a dirt bike racer though.
Make shit up. They'll never know. :v:
My dad fed chocolate to kangaroos once, he even took pictures.
My Dad was really in to the old illegal raves across Britain. He also nearly shot his friends foot off. Mum's pretty boring.
Don't know about my parents, but my grandfather has a really high-up job in the CIA. I think he used to be something different, but as far as I know now he catalogs and keeps record of stuff. And some pretty damn interesting stuff, I'd think.
my dad hitchhiked back to england from spain at 16 after running out of money and then beat cancer (hogdkin's lymphoma) at 18
My Dad once lived in a small house with a schizophrenic guy and a perfectionist Indian man.
My parents experienced a volcano erupting that took out half the town I live in. It happened 35 years ago or so. Here are some images: You can actually see my house on this picture. Well a part of it. I was only able to find small images. But whatever. This happened on an island. Heres a picture of what it looks as of today: The black stuff in the upper right corner is what used to be green grass. But because of the volcano...
My dad has a ton of stories, mostly about his trip around Europe and parts of Africa. All of them are really long stories though. The shortest one would probably be about how he banged some Swedish chick in a camper van in the middle of some African desert. My mother knew Bill gates (Met him at some dinner), told me that he asked her out but my mom said no. She told me it was because he was "too nerdy". Also, My dad knew Bill Nye the Science Guy in high school. So both my parents knew two famous "nerds".
My dad once picked up a hitchhiking escaped inmate from a mental institution. He had some rubber band he would wipe on stuff and lick. When they had stopped for gas my dad got him a pop, and they took off down the highway. About 5 miles down the road he looked at my dad and started screaming "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO THIS" and tried to attack my dad. So my dad reached over, opened the door and kicked him out of the truck while moving. He has some other hitchhiking stories that are pretty good.
My sister shoved tinsel in my dads ear one Christmas, and he ended up going to the hospital since he couldn't get it out.
Cancer
My grandpa was in jail in Iraq for months because they used to be so rich and they used to go to Europe and the US alot so Saddam thought he was some kind of "spy." My dad payed 100 dollars to the government not to join the Iraqi army in the 2003 war. During the war, my dad was in a burning building with his mom and he asked her to jump down the balconies on each floor with him but she couldn't. She went down the stairs and he jumped down the balconies. His arm was really burnt and he still has scars. My dad got stopped by Terrorists/Freedom Fighters when he was coming out of Fallujah, but they ran away because one of them said there was an American convoy nearby plus he lied about his name and whether he was a Sunni or Shi'ite. (His job used to be to transport civilians from Syria to Iraq or from Jordan to Iraq and other way). First day of war, in Iraq, we lived about 2 miles away from the Iraqi Defence Building and it got bombed so many times by A-10 Hogs, but my dad still went out and got us DVDs and a DVD Player so we wouldn't remember all what's happening around us. We were basically in the fucking war. Shit was cash when i was little but now that i look back i shit my pants. Because so many people we know died when they were in the same situation as us.
