I read pretty fast, I was home-schooled until secondary school and my mother taught me how to skim read. I can look at the two halves of a page and just take it all in.
Depends how much you read it. I'm a relatively fast reader I guess. I read all of the Lord of the Rings books and the Hobbit in a few weeks when staying at a relatives home because I had nothing better to do.
I read fast but books bore me, so I usually read Wikipedia or something I am actually interested in on the Internet, but reading books eh.
took me 6 weeks to read it

Alright, Mr. No punctuation and capitalization.
Oh wait, one period. Here, have an internets. I know it must have been hard to push that button.
I live by the
[editline]12:23AM[/editline]
Took me a day to read Eragon & Eldest
It took me months to read the Hobbit.
It's not because I'm a bad reader, I just would read it for an hour a night, and then forget about it for a month or two, and then read it again for an hour, and so on and so forth.
The fastest I've ever read a book was the last Harry Potter book in two days.
Took me a year to read a 500 page book
But that's because i'm lazy
[editline]09:27PM[/editline]
and it makes them last longer
This really depends on the books, I'm never going to read the whole of the bible than those 2 pages I started with, then i'm never going to read more than 10 pages a day of excersize books from school but if I find myself a horror novel or cook book i'll read it in one day if I want to.
I read 300 pages and it took me 1 week.
I once read a 1000 page book in 8 hours when I was sick. My normal reading rate is about 100 pages an hour.
I am very slow at reading books, it usually takes me two month to finish a novel
I read I.T in a 8 days. For a smaller book like American Physco, i took 3 days.
I'm reading a book called The Crucible for my english class, as I have to write an essay on it, and so far, in the 4 hours I've put towards trying to read it, I've only read 45 pages, fell asleep on the book three times, and had my attention wander off somewhere else countless times.
At this rate, I'll be done the book in 18 hours. [sp]It's only ~200 pages long, but boring as FUCK[/sp]
Depends, if I read a book for pleasure it'll take me about three weeks to a month. But if it's a book for school at least 5 days.
Pretty much what I can do. I have a bad habit of getting really caught up in a book and staying up until 2 a.m. reading them though...
Yeah, that just happened to me earlier this week when I was reading Cell, I should have been studying for a stats test but oh well
If it's really actiony and has big text, I could knock it out in a few days. If it is really big, dense, and has small text, it could take me a few months.
I don't read books very often. Usually i only read books that i need to read for school (5-10 a year) + every now and then i decide to read a book of my own choice. In the end it makes for around 10 books a year, that's why i'm not a very fast reader. I can read about 1 page per minute, or more if the book has large fonts/small pages. I can actually read a lot faster, but if i do, i tend to forget the words almost as soon as i read them. :words:
[editline]01:16PM[/editline]
:wtc: that's like 7 seconds per page. Or 3 and a half if you're actually interested in the book. How the hell is that even possible?
I spent most of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade reading non-stop. I could already read well, but reading that much helped increase my reading speed. It also helped my spelling a lot. You could say I was a book worm.
If im really into it i can finish about 800 pages in 1 day. if im bored ill read like 50 xD.

What i meant to ask is what do you actually do when you read? I know that i can't move my eyes fast enough from left to right, just scanning the lines from left to right to finish a page in under 20, maybe 15 seconds. Did your brain become so good at recognizing words that you can read whole lines at a time, so you just scan the page from top to bottom? Reading a whole page in 3 seconds seems nearly impossible if you do it in a normal way.
600 page book in a day, I read pretty fast but I like to take it in.
It all depends. I'm more distracted by shit like the internet nowadays, so a book can take a widely varying amount of time.

I read entire sentences at a time. I don't know why, I've just become accustomed to recognizing words. Like I said before, I was always good at reading, but I improved on it. You just need to read more, and by read more I mean reading non-stop. You'll start reading faster soon enough if you do that. Make sure you're reading something that interests you though. Otherwise you won't see much improvement.
If I like the book, i could read about 300-350 pages an hour
It took me about 4 days to finish the count of monte cristo. But I can finish most of Roald Dahl's books (Best author in the entire world) in 1 day or less.
300 pages 1 day.
I read a 650 page book in a total of about 4-5 hours. It was a really good book
I finished the last harry potter book in a day, while not particularily straining myself.
I scan read without thinking, and it's really annoying, because I end up missing little clues in the story that I'll only pick up on in my 5th or 6th readthrough.
A fucking month.
[editline]12:14AM[/editline]
My girlfriend can ready 2 decently sized books in like 5 hours. She's fucking nuts.

Wow, someone gave you a 1x bad reading :v:
Oh, I forgot to say :
School takes the fun out of reading.
fuck you school.
I never ever enjoy a book that I'm MADE to read.
This. School makes people hate reading. Also the Shakespeare circle jerk is stupid.
