I've worn through the bottom of my right shoe because I constantly pivot on it while I push and bring my back leg on and off the board
I used to skateboard, but after 3 years I found it too hard as I could only do basic tricks after all that time. It would also beat up my shins, elbows, and knees and tear my shoes and clothing apart.
I've had a walmart skateboard since I was a kid, I've always wanted to actually learn sometime. Unfortunately most of the roads near me are either gravel or badly paved hills. I'll have to try again soon, they recently paved a flat section near me.
I have an old Birdhouse board (Like, birdhouse everything) that I cruise on sometimes. I love it.
I used to enjoy skateboarding back in the day until I was dumb enough to try grinding on a ledge and took a 5 feet dive onto concrete and slid on my elbows. Now I have nice long reminder scars as to why I quit skateboarding.

I have a shitty board that's made out of random parts off of walmart skateboards It's so Bad I can't Tighten the trucks or they'll snap.
I've had this for about four years or so. I finally trashed my old Baker board and built this up, but about a month after it's construction I kinda got a little busy and slowly stopped. It's a shame it's been used twice this summer, and before that I haven't even touched it. You can tell it hasn't been used much. It's sad. I also suck really bad now. Sometimes I feel like I should just hand it off to someone who will have more time for it, but I don't know I just still feel like it's a part of me. But yeah, the wheels are Alien Workshop. I've got a street deck but I mostly longboard now. In middle school there was a small skate park next to the school so I'd go there a few times a week and just skate halfway up ramps then kickturn and go back down. I never made much progress, I always ride mongo (slowly learning to push regular) and I never feel like my balance improve but that's why I love my longboard, I can just cruise around and work my way up taking on hills. I'd put more time into my street deck to finally learn how to ollie or something but with the nicer smooth ride my longboard gives me, I'm too distracted :v: I might go to some of the other local skateparks sometime to see what I can do, as long as they aren't flooded with scooters.
how do i do a blunt stall without being a little bitch and bailing out blunts always scared me because i used to keep catching my front trucks on the coping when i was younger and so i just gave up and now that i've gotten back into it i'm trying to learn it again and its just so ugh [editline]19th August 2013[/editline]
London skate boarder here. I coincidentally started again very recently, I think part of the reason why I keep stopping and starting is firstly because, you know, fuck scooters.
ugh people always bring their entire clans of shitty little kids on razer scooters to the local park and they just run amuck and get in everyones way. idk how fucking stupid of a parent you have to be to bring like 5 toddlers on tricycle scooters into a skatepark with adults speeding around at 9pm on a friday but somehow they always do [editline]19th August 2013[/editline]
I just bought cheapo board for cruising. But Im thinking of switching the skateboard wheels with longboard wheels. And then buy a couple of risers and have myself a chodeboard. Has anybody done something like this?
we used to do that in middle school lol, you'll probably end up cutting on the edges of your deck when you make a turn if you ride loose trucks, you'd be better off just getting a little premade fishboard or something for $100~. it'll last a long time and feel a lot better
My only real experience with skateboarding up until recently was this terrible walmart board that I used to luge down hills on. I've been getting really interested in longboarding though, and I'm considering picking up a Earthwing Superglider.

And of course not riding too loose. Did you use risers when you did that?

If you can't now, start doing that first. It's almost the same. So you'd approach like you rock n' roll, but lift your front wheels a little higher and let your bottom trucks sit on the coping. You'll notice you have some room between your back tail and the actual ramp under the lip, and you use that to pop out. Then you could learn to blunt stall to rock n' roll which is always fun. It's one of those things you just have to do a couple of times before you get it, and commit.
how do i do a blunt stall without being a little bitch and bailing out
Are you trying to do a blunt fakie or a blunt rock? I can do blunt fakies but blunt rocks don't compute for me. To blunt fakie, you can't be going too fast or else you'll shoot out and over the coping, but if you don't go fast enough you obviously won't make it all the way up. Roll up, get your front wheels over and put all your weight on your back foot and just sorta power it into position, then pop out. Once you get it it'll be like "oh, duh, it was really that easy" and you'll get into the groove quick.
I find ollieing on to a height or up something a billion times easier than just doing one on flat

I bought an Element Cruiser from a skate shop near home about a year ago. I love it still, Although my mate keeps telling me to break in my wheels so I can slide. But I don't want to...
All the Elements in this thread is giving me cancer.
bam margera is my hero hes epic and he kickflip over a fat guy stomach
All the Elements in this thread is giving me cancer.
Once I brought some grip tape and when I unrolled it it said "BAM MARGERA" and I nearly cried
still trying to nail the kickflip. I didn't have a skateboard until recently, so I learned how to ollie on a longboard which was pretty difficult :v:
Finding it difficult as fuck to get over skate fear, and every time I try to pop shuv the deck flies in a random direction. How the fuck do I get over this
I find ollieing on to a height or up something a billion times easier than just doing one on flat
i'm glad i'm not alone here, if i have something to get up to i can do it. but if i'm on the middle of a paving on flat ground, i can't ollie for my ass [editline]20th August 2013[/editline]
Finding it difficult as fuck to get over skate fear, and every time I try to pop shuv the deck flies in a random direction.
Finding it difficult as fuck to get over skate fear, and every time I try to pop shuv the deck flies in a random direction. How the fuck do I get over this
Oh yeah, I had the same problem. Unfortunately, didn't ever get over this. I skated until I got bored and then skated again, etc, with not much improvements besides higher ollie :v: If you are confident though, the board is less likely to fly in random direction.

How the fuck do I get over this
if you're afraid of trying flip tricks on flat then you're really just not very comfortable on a skateboard in general. try just rolling around the park/street doing what you ARE comfortable with and getting exceedingly good at it just so you get a vibe for being on a skateboard that moves around a lot. at that point flip tricks really are more of a nuisance than a fear because theres almost no risk of injury

Get super comfortable with your board and skateboarding in general so you have decent enough board control to even attempt learning tricks. Some things to do before even learning to ollie are hippie jumps, powerslides (which are FUCKING AWESOME btw), hill bombing, no complies and boneless tricks (which may or may not be easier to do than an ollie for you), and caveman variations. If after a lot of time on your board you still don't feel comfortable, consider getting a bigger board or maybe even wider trucks. I ride an 8.38 on 8.5 trucks and so far its my favorite setup. Before that I rode 8s for the longest time but switching up really made a difference in my consistency and board control.
when i was like 13 bonelesses were my shit and i would just blow peoples minds doing these basic bonelesses on quarter pipes lmao [editline]20th August 2013[/editline] if you want to do something impressive looking without any semblance of efforts just do bonelesses
