I had a DGK 7.5 but then moved up to a girl 7.85 with some gay ass ricta naturals and some indy trucks.
Skating for 4 -5 months, learned ollie on week one, and just learned pop shuvs and tailbone no grabs.
tailbone no grabs are fucking wanky as hell, it's a vert trick but i made it flat
If you don't mind me asking here, is something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/141000735827?var=440149150312&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

A good start for a beginner longboarding?
Not at all.
If you want a drop:

If you want a pinner:

But if you want something I'd actually recommend:

And trust me, those decks are complete shit, you'll hate them. The ones I listed will be infinitely better and last 100x longer.
I could get behind the flying spaghetti monster
Don't know if a longboarding thread exist, found an ancient one with Google but I've just purchased my first board. My enjoi is pretty ruined, probably for the best since it made me want to just buy a longboard that fits my taste much better.
I always run with a light deck such as Girl or Plan B. I don't see how people can land tricks with such heavy decks.
all of my bearings are beautifully broken into it's great
I'm currently talking to some small-time board companies about making me some decks. I'm asking them for sized up street decks basically. Like, 36 x 8.8 preferably, but idk, I'll probs just experiment with shapes and sizes until I find one I dig. I think I found one who will take a crack at it.

what
Okay well one said it would have to be 9 ply (way too fucking heavy to actually skate) and cost $130, so that's a no. One said that they plan on releasing big popsicles already in the very near future for great prices, so awesome!

Board got here, switched my stance from mongo to goofy as mongo is fucking ridiculous on the thing. Couldn't be happier with it.

So, I decided instead of trying to get a custom that I just go through some small builders. I decided on this deck:

35x9 Skull Skates
Set up with:
Theeve TIAX 6.5" trucks
Welcome orbs 54mm (or spitfire classics 54mm)
Mini logo bearings
Shorty's silverados
Black magic griptape
I think it'll be rad as fuck. Cost about $220 in the end
I need some damn wheels, I ride on the streets so I'm thinking about Bones STF 54's or 56's. I don't actually skate anymore I just cruise.

If you just cruise, try a bit softer wheel, like OJ Keyframes or Powell oval dragons. Their pretty soft without losing that skateboard feel, you know?
So today I was stunting for some black guys and ollied over a dog shit, a monster can, a dude sitting down, and kickflipped over two chicks lieing down. Was rad as fuck. Week bump woo woo!
didnt know this thread existed until now! but I got new wheels and bearings and have needed them for a while.

I should probably get a set of risers since ive gotten bite on the old ones, and maybe some new trucks cause 5 year old ventures are kinda beat haha.
My friend had some Ventures for 5 years, which he got from his brother whom skated for about another 5. Their so ground up it's ridiculous. I'll dig them up and post pics.

I have mixed feelings about them, I like mine but lots of people have told me their shit, and my friend snapped 2 of them.
I know plenty of people have their trucks blow up on them, but their the cheapest quality trucks around, as well as the lightest, so I'd expect it. I don't like the feel much myself. Like, Indys carve, Thunders tweak, but Ventures just kinda swerve. You miss that lean, its just kinda like you're turning or you're not turning, you dig? With Bones bushings they turn and lean for days, so if you haven't replaced the bushings I'd recommend it.

Just copped. Got it with free grip, bolts and bearings too. Gon do some art when it gets here and set it up with some Indy GC hollow 149s and some Bones.

Completely destroyed my nose so I decided fuck it and to just chop it. Pics of the board above tomorrow too, just got it the other day and painted today.
Been skateboarding for like a month. First skateboard was a shit Dew Tour walmart board. Wheels broke on me within a week, so I said fuck it and went to buy an actual board. Went to this awesome little store called Ruin. The guy working there was really chill and awesome, even though it was like 10 minutes before closing time. Got a 7.8" Girl deck, Thunder trucks, 52mm Spitfire wheels, and Lucky Abec bearings.
I've been using the board for a little over a week. Trying to break them in. Have been practicing ollies, shuv its, kick flips, etc. Also really fun going down hills with it. Have been thinking about getting a long board, though, as well. Maybe one day. Threw down $150 for my new board, don't want to throw down another $150 - $200 for a proper long board, yet.
