Right now I kinda work for myself by driving around to thrift stores and flea markets buying up stuff to sell on ebay. I make about $500 a month but just about all that money goes towards my credit card bill and its a shaky form of income.
I take care of my own Finances, I have a bank, ebay, and credit card. My parents give me about $150 a month for cost of living. With all of that I find myself breaking about even every month but the problem is im looking to buy a new car and it would require a car payment of ~ $130 a month.

it must be SO HARD for you having money given to you and having a car and then wanting to buy a NEW car.
I'm 21 and i'd be ecstatic to find any work even if it was trash collecting
i own my own place but i can barely afford to buy food most days, i can't afford gas to heat the place, i'm sitting here typing this in a jacket and gloves
you need to stop living in a fantasy world and be happy for any single job you can get because there are many of us who can't get anything.
You can allways become a hooker
I can understand not wanting to work in food service, but a retail job is about the best you can hope for right now.
Or ever if you don't really have money or connections. It's probably a good idea to start working now.
You should try manwhoring, it's usually not shitty unless the customer is into that kind of thing.

This isnt a me being a whiny cry baby thread. This is a me asking for advice. Not everyone has the same situation and that's unfortunate but there is nothing I can do to help you.
Just because your worse off then a 17 year old does not mean you need to bitch and take out your anger here. If anyone here is whining its you.
I do respect that there are some people who have trouble getting a job and being successful but that is not an excuse to whine and attack me for asking for advice. Im not in a situation where I NEED a job. If I was in your situation I would take any job aswell and I understand your frustration. But the fact of the matter is im not. So I dont need to. Hence why im asking for suggestions and advice. ~ NOT ~ complaining, ~ NOT ~ asking for your sorrow or pity.
If I wouldn't have included my age in the OP i assume the responses here would be much different because there wouldn't be as much resentment.
Thank you everyone else who has actually contributed to the conversation.

Right.. of course..
if you get anything out of this thread, just remember that you are already better off than most people and being a 'PICKY BITCH' is an insult to the rest of us, who have to struggle and carve out a life with handouts and second hand everything.
Picky bitch is an acknowledgement to me and no one else. I know im picky. Which is why im asking for suggestions.
If you took it as an insult im sorry.
The things your quoted on are irrelevant and dont make your argument any stronger.
dear op
fuck off

You may not have a cool job, but at least you have a realistic self-view.
I used to be a super quiet and nice guy. Always minding my own business.
Then I worked at a gas station. Now I hate people. I hate everyone. I still keep to myself, but I just can't stand other people now.
Eh, I don't really see the problem here. If OP can apparently afford to be picky, what's the problem? People like to bitch and moan about jobs far too often.
I'm 19 and I've been "picky" for 2 years. Have fun being unemployed for years on end.
I've finally come to realize that I've got to shit jobs first and then I'll get what I want.
Take any job you can get, get some references, some employment history. Do some volunteer work to fill in the gaps when you aren't working. That should let you pick any job you want down the line.
hey guys lets all suck off CEO's and executives, one of us will land a job at microsoft.
i recommend getting an apprenticeship, its shit money to start with but once you're qualified you will rake it in and if you find something you enjoy doing it's like you're not even working.
sounds like a personal experience.
Na just seen it happen a few times recently more of a dick waving thing with it getting progressively worse.
I want to get a job because I like money. Im 17 years old and I can drive. I do not want to work in the food industry or do something shitty.
I like driving and being on the road but im 17 so I think that limits my options. I tired getting a job with my grandfather at a rental car agency moving cars around but you need to be 19 to do that.

Ideas, Opinions?
I took a purely provision based telemarketing job when I was 17. It sucked so hard I was constantly angry for 4 months. But I got some money from it and I have no regrets. Without it I wouldn't have been able to fund my driver's license. Now I have a pretty fun job, working a few days a month.
I do appreciate all your advice right now. Dont think I dont. I just dont appreciate the personal attacks. Im simply asking for advice. Dont hate me because of my situation.
I know I have it better then some people. Not asking for pity at all.

you sure aren't that mature for a 17 year old
no one hates you for your situation, you need to learn how to worry about real problems unlike not being able to get your dream job at 17 and get a brand new car when everyone else is struggling to find any job at all
look at the world realistically, you aren't going to find a good job that you want when you're 17 no matter how lucky you are
I'm a barman.

I'll have an Old Fashioned
Less picky bitch, More immature bitch.
Do manual labour, put your back into it, AND GET SWOLE AS FUCK SON!!!
Fuck all these people being like "you can't be picky". I was picky, too. I didn't want to get a job. These people don't remember being 17. I work at a movie theater now. The thing about a theater is that you mostly only work on weekends, because there's not much business on weekdays. This severely limits your hours. The other thing is that you work mostly at night; until midnight to 1am, usually, because this is when people go to the movies: after work/school.
I used to work grocery. the thing about grocery is that your managers generally dont care about you. They're always trying to expand on their career and are always trying to get to be a regional manager of multiple stores or even make their way to corporate. Never work at an un-unionized grocery store because those guys are fucking sharks. They work you off the clock, will cut corners, and will do basically anything they want because nobody is holding their feet to the fire. Harris Teeter is probably one of the worst employers I, or anybody I know, have ever had.
The other thing to look at is paid interships. Look around at offices nearby. Paid internships during the summer will land your 40 hours a week at 10-12 or maybe even 14 dollars an hour. These also look good on job applications.
The best way to get any job is nepotism. This is a fact. The most successful people in the world did not get there through hard work; they got there through connections. See if friends, family, family friends, family of friends, teachers, coaches, etc. can find you a job anywhere.
The most important thing I can tell you is to have patience. No job is a career; every job is a stepping stone to another job. Even a job as a bagger at a grocery store will give you employment history. Next to a college degree, employment history is one of the most valuable things you can have. Find a job you want, and apply for it. if you don't get it, figure out what you need to get it, and go get that.
Find manual labour work it's great money. I was getting paid $25AUD an hour to wrap enchiladas and dip kebabs in sauce, and I was only 17. Too bad the place that hired me is shit with giving shifts and I haven't had any work from them in more than a month. I've moved on and applied for a place that does chicken eggs now though.

Fuck unions they will shaft you over if you aren't a member of one. Especially if management is penetrated by them.

Found the job for you OP.
Get a CDL and deliver supplys to big companys. Its what I do, You have to be comfy driving big ass trucks and ruining peoples days by running yield signs because your a tank and dont give a shit. Dead men don't talk (Its what I learned fron the others at least) Im 18 (19 on tuesday) and I make about 30k a year already so that salary isn't bad for my age. Specially since i have hardly any bills (Live with my parents) I pay about 300 for rent, 100 for food (Sometimes less/more) and about 100 for etc (Netflix, pandora) So over a year I spend 6-7k in all my bills leaving about 23k frew for myself (Which I'll be honest. Im not proper with it.)
