Guys, I don't understand why you're so eager to oppose his efforts. He simply wants to get the right job - something he enjoys - rather than end up being trapped on a tredmill which could leave someone homeless if they fall off it.
Would you rather it that one didn't have to get a job to survive (even if that's workfare) - anyone that is - and have the opportunity to concentrate their efforts on what they're most productive with, or prefer it that the capitalist system forces one to get a job to survive -- just to survive -- when they have no other means to survive?
Ditch the credit card and the lazy attitude. Shitty jobs are made for 17 year olds. Also, the food industry is a lot of fun sometimes. As an inexperienced worker, no jobs are below you.
If you don't have strings to pull and don't know how to network, then you're stuck with working shitty jobs.
Seriously bro, just pull your head out of your ass and get a job. You're seventeen and have to pay off credit card bills every month? Shit dude, you need to get your act together and actually have a surplus, and fix this fucking behavior, 'cos when you get into the real world there's not going to be any parents to pay your cost of living, and nobody gives a shit about you. You either get what job you can get, or you get kicked out of your house, lose your car, and go live on the street. Honestly, dude, you might think this shit is harmless, but it's not, you need to mature really fast or you're fucked.

A year working at McDonalds is also great work experience, you learn tons of skills that would take a whole TAFE course to learn AND YOU GET PAID TO DO IT. It also looks really good on a resume for a better job.
facepunch is rude
