Recently, he made a post on Facebook wondering why his videos started getting more dislikes and what he should do to change that. Most of his fans mentioned his overreaction to everything and how loud he is all the time. Then he replied saying that he doesn't overreact and that those are his genuine reactions. "I'm loud because it's entertaining" etc. :v:
there's also this
I know valid points is such a headache
keep drinking dat kool aid and you might catch that bad information virus
What valid points? Other than the two errors being pointed out, he's just been bitching that they didn't make a ten-hour-long extravaganza detailing every single possible tidbit of fact behind Doom's development and that these videos are pointless because all this information is easy to find. He'd have something if he could point out some actual detrimental errors, but instead he's just busy missing the entire point of DYKG.
It's cool that guys like Marphy Black know so much about a game, but I fail to see how DYKG is invalid because the information is easy to find or that they didn't include his personal favorite bits of trivia. I didn't know almost everything presented in this video. These videos are for people like me who haven't spent time cruising these games' wikis. I could go on and on about numerous Nintendo games, TF2, and MGS, so obviously the DYKG videos on those games aren't as interesting to me. But you don't see me complaining about those videos simply because I already knew all that information. Of course information like this isn't hard to find since we have large wikis collecting it all up, but not everyone is going to go reading every wiki for every game they play. Maybe Marphy does, but it doesn't surprise me that someone who spends hours on Facepunch stalking random users and giving all their posts negative ratings has a lot of free time on their hands.
because the facts are legitimately wrong, and arent that hard to know at all
There's only been two errors pointed out so far. The one about the playable characters has already been fixed in an annotation on the video and the second is debatable. He only said "Carmack explained his position in 2003", which isn't exactly wrong since the quote was published in 2003. It's more like they just simplified the sentence too much rather than being outright wrong. "Carmack explained his position in an interview published in 2003" would be more correct, but it's kind of a non-issue since who really gives a shit when he said it.
they forgot to mention that the main track "At Doom's Gate" was taken from "No Remorse" by Metallica
that's the only piece of trivia i know about Doom :v:
Yes, he could've gone into more detail about things, but who can fit all that info into one video?
I personally liked it.
Yeah, the people are given the script, and then they read it off. The Info comes from what ever has been submitted to DYKG. You could probably find all these facts on their site already.
they had a 2 pater to Resident Evil they will most likely have a 2 pater to this as well.
This guys TF2 surgeon simulator is so cringeworthy.
I never liked that idea on story in games. "Story in games is like Story in porn, don't matter fuck et".
John Carmack also lobbied against a "use" key (a la Half Life) and ragdolls for Doom 3. He was successful with the former (hence Doom's mouse-based buttons) and obviously not the latter. He's a programming genius, but the guy has some odd opinions about game design.
heretical levels of misinformation detected. anyone with a bit of musical ear knows that Master of Puppets doesn't sound like E1M1 at all
you're thinking of this

E2M1 is the track clearly inspired by Master of Puppets (the riff before the verse, to be precise) and a certain AC/DC song
I admit I've fucked up and mixed these two up

The thumbnail alone puts me off from even watching it.
What is up with YouTube thumbnails including an obnoxious face shot of the host? I usually take it as a glaring indicator that the host is way too self-important.

I dunno, they seem to think being "wacky" is what'll draw crowds. Sad thing is, it does, even though most of them are retarded 14 year olds. Sadder thing is, is when an old, chill YouTuber switched to doing shit like this, a la Seannaners and Markiplier.
