Thread is gonna be locked pretty soon, it hardly matters if we derail at this point.
As far as people being cold and horrible, it's easy to act like that when all you're looking at is text on a computer screen. People start to disassociate others on the internet, a disembodied line of text or voice doesn't seem especially human. Plus, with the anonymity, there are no real consequences for one's actions. Everything is vigilate, there is no internet police as many would like to believe, meaning that anything that happens to you is pretty much your responsibility unless you can somehow get the police involved (which IMO is a dick move unless serious shit goes down).
Internet freedom is very much a double-edged sword, it can be used for free discussion and passing of information that could otherwise be censored or repressed, but it can also drive people to be complete assholes.

Then suddenly yesterday he comes back out of nowhere and starts talking shit to me. He disabled profile messages so I had to PM him to ask what his problem was.

to be fair, furries can, at times, be far more open than they should be, but the more subtle ones are common too and they get harassed when they mind their own business
When a furry is too open, he's doing it carelessly and blindly, when someone is all pissy about it, they do it carelessly and blindly.
Best thing to do is just don't be insanely "xD I'm a furry" and keep it to avatars and furry populated areas, same with bronies, and ignore people who bash. It's as simple as that.

lol and that's why it's fun to argue with you, because you respond. That's what everyone enjoys about antagonizing people over the internet, make slight mistakes and watch them point it out like it matters, when you're actually doing it for entertainment. It's the base issue with bronies and furries, and why they're such common targets. Simply letting them argue is why they have fun.

I would like to say I have been stalking this thread lately (hehe) and I am amazed how well things have been going here. I am a fan of the show myself and I have never seen a thread remotely related to ponies go without a massive argument. As of late I have never tried to get myself involved with anything related to the show here on Facepunch (in fear of being flamed and/or harassed.) It's a great way to relieve a bit of stress, for example, me after a long day of school with lots of homework and studies. Or for the days you feel sad or something.

I personally enjoy the show for the same reasons that others have cited, it manages to be genuinely entertaining and funny without any of the cynicism that so many other shows (even children's cartoons) seem to possess. This is hardly surprising given the team who make it, although you've probably heard that one before.
It took a long time for me to open up to it (I rejected it outright in February after getting only 10 minutes through episode 1, seeing the thread on FP), but once I finally revisited the show and sat down and watched an episode, I gradually started to get used to the more saccharine and sweet aspects (such as the theme song, vocabulary, overtones, etc.) and overlook them, I found something that no other show could offer. Something with a genuine good nature and good sense of humor and self-awareness that goes beyond the range of most children's cartoons.
It's the most unique thing I've ever seen, really, I still have those moments where I go "what the fuck, I'm watching My Little fucking Pony", but every time I watch an episode or see fan-art or listen to fan music I can't stop smiling. It took me a few weeks after revisiting the show to really admit to myself that I liked it (as with most people), but once I did I never regretted the decision.
I'm a sucker for anything adorable too.

If you're interested in trying another, go for episode 7 of season 1 (Dragonshy).
