I can't help but notice that all the people who regularly troll pony members are fucked up in their own right
Ronald is a extreme homosexual dragon fucker
Scout is a bisexual inflation enthusiast
Salty is a huge Homstuck fan, not saying that's a bad thing, but you'd think he'd know more what it's like to get grouped in with obnoxious members of fandoms.

We're all a little odd here :v: but instead of attacking haters or defaming them or what have you, lets end this thread on a high note, eh? We've shown consistently in this thread that we're above the trolls and haters, so lets not bother with them anymore.
I think I've seen Rainbow Dash appear in Homestuck a few times. :v:
Wonder if they raged.

It was relatively recent. Cries of O NO NOW PEOPLE WILL THINK HUSSIE IS IN THE HERD were heard, then silenced.
Related to the OP, this shit is hilarious.
Why should I even bother to watch the show myself?
Don't give me that typical "oh it's worth it" "it has great characters" "amazing plot". I want to be pitched actual logic and reasoning as to why I should spend time watching it. Such as references and what actually makes it up.
I watched quite a bit, and it was average at best.
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's average. You can say things about something that's good, you can say things about something that's bad, but when something is average it just exists.

God I hate that shit, when bronies feel the need to say "OMG *person* IS A BRONYYYYYY"
Who the fuck cares

I've heard it has a lot of the late 90's toons styles, which I think makes it a little less average in regards to more modern cartoons. Not in quality maybe but how rare you see that these days.

"OHH NOO HE MADE PONY VIDEO, UNSUBSCRIBED, FAGGOT"

It pretty much is the embodiment of Cartoon Network in the 90s, just stuffed into a particularly hard-to-take package.
alright, here's the mini spiel:
marketed toward young kids, yes, though the design team actually pushed their boundaries a bit, and put out a pilot that wasn't all tea parties and rainbows, setting the tone for the rest of the series.
The reason all the older people get into it is the nostalgia factor of several things. the animation is well done and stylized, very reminiscent of the character designer's older works which we all remember well enough. Members of the animation/design team have collectively worked on the iron giant, samurai jack, dexter's lab, powerpuff girls, foster's home for imaginary friends, and more.
it is literally the amalgamation of cartoon network's golden years.
As for actual story and stuff, yes it's still played out with a young audience in mind, but part of that boundary pushing is what Lauren Faust specifically wanted. She said it'd suck, as a young parent/babysitter/older sibling to have to sit with a younger kid and watch the kind of mindless girly TV everyone expects, so she puts in huge pop culture references, draws out a deeper layer to character development and stories (like with pinkie's thin mental boundary that can burst and send her into manic depression), and makes it genuinely entertaining to that demographic as well.
Granted most new cartoons now are literally mindless garbage, it wouldn't be hard to stand above the crowd, but if any shows today did half as well as MLP did at actually bringing content on this level instead of just providing slapstick jokes and retarded acting for 20 minutes, it'd still blow all the other programming on cartoon network clean out of the water.
The best example of terrible shows in this day and age (which TH89 has also pointed out) would be Johnny Test, if you ask me. it's just a genderswapped dexter's lab without the good writing, and a whole bunch of additions that were probably voted in by a committee.
I won't deny there's people who like it for other reasons and have been fans since the first generation or whatever, but this is the reason I think a majority of people got into it. There isn't any plot aside from per-episode junk and the season premiere specials, but the writing is good for what it is and it's actually entertaining to intellectuals rather than just appealing to kids who only need flashy colors and cheap humor for a laugh. It isn't groundbreakingly awe inspiring, but it's something worth catching on a saturday afternoon like any other cartoon you don't mind watching.
I think the part that keeps people involved and excitable is the sects of the community that they actually enjoy, be it drawing stuff and showing it off to people who like drawings of stuff (granted lots of terrible content is generated, check deviant art appreciation thread), speculating and discussing things, writing fanfiction, whatever. The only reason it's really any point of issue compared to anything else is the name branding, which is unfortunate because it has to follow a history of generic 80's shows and terribly failed attempts at remaking it in the early 2000's, all centered around hasbro's love for what were technically half hour slot infomercials advertising their toy lines.
Seems conversation is just going toward the show again, now's a good time to close.

just a forewarning, the next .MOV video is coming out soon, so someone's probably gonna make a thread. This last thread started smoothly but obviously turned to every kind of shit, so I'm just gonna recap quick rules-
-I'm not letting the new thread run for more than a day or two at max, unless (somehow) it's really well behaved.
-I'm going to ban anyone who goes off topic and starts general junk, after a warning.
- I will ban idiots who think it's a good idea to dive into a thread (that you didn't have to click in the first place) just to tell everyone to "stop shoving this shit down our throats". Of all the threads to yell about that, this is probably the least of your worries, the parody isn't anything really pro-mlp at all and a lot of people say "I don't like ponies but this was hilarious". Read the first page or two of this thread.
I'd rather not have a new thread at all, but if it happens nobody's getting banned for making it. Just watch the JA tumblr or hotdiggedydemon's other social things like facebook or twitter and catch it yourself.
Ask-JappleAck's tumblr has a ton of comic-based mini story updates since the last video which lead up to the new video.
