Why do I see every sci-fi-ish-barely-seen-monster-movie as sad copies of the first Alien? Oh yeah, because they are.
Since all movies that come out after a movie has an original (at its time) concept holding said concept are copies of the first, totally. Honestly, people who use that argument of yours piss me off. Of course the concept has already been done, of course its going to be a "sad copy", because it's already been done. If you judge a film purely for originality, then I suppose you stopped movies past the late 80's/early 90's. What a sad existent you must live. Judge a film for everything in it, including the film itself. Not just its originality. :rolleye: [editline]Fish tacos[/editline] That being said, the first few times I saw the commercials for it, I thought it was a Dead Space movie. Meaning I have to see it, obviously. And I intend to see it.
So, what other movie plots are we going to recycle and spit into space?
I watched this yesterday. It was pretty good. Could've been better.
So, what other movie plots are we going to recycle and spit into space?
I'm thinking that one with the person who constantly calls and asks the babysitter, "Have you checked on the children?". I can't remember that film's name. "Have you checked on the engines?" :3:
Reminds of Unknown as well.
http://www.spoonyexperiment.com/2009/09/29/vlog-9-29-09-pandorum/
I stopped watching when i saw he had the highlander posted up on his wall >.> But seriously, i've seen the decent, the difference between the two movies, is that Pandorum can actually keep with it's pace and not degrade into a B-style gore film like The Descent did. The Descent really started out well, it was great till about mid way through where their was over-dramatic sequences topped with overly grotesque gore and blood that just seemed to suffocate any flame of hope that it had left in it for redeeming itself as a horror movie and not just some blood crazed gorefest. Pandorum is a league above it in that it doesn't substitute horror and intensity for blood and gore, although that's not to say that their isn't any blood and gore in it, but it's definately not as much and it's done in a MUCH more tasteful fashion. Also, i don't think he watched the entire movie, as he makes the idiotic remark of saying "nobody in this movie has pandorum", because yes, there ARE characters in the movie who get it, but you don't find out who, till much, much later on. In fact, it was almost hard to watch the entire thing because of how much he exaggerates about the movie and how many things... I don't know, should i say it? "Makes up" for comedies sake. Also, notice how he also says in the review "And ofcourse were the only ones in the theater" yet later on he says "and the whole theater is just laughing".....
Is this the movie made by the guys who produced Resident Evil? Not interested.
Coming soon to a petrol station bargain bin near you : TITANIC IN SPACE ! A huge starcruiser heads straight for a giant asteroid, and all the while 2 lovely people have sex in the cabins. James Cameron directs this all CG 6 hour epic.
I don't see how thats like this movie at all, even in the slightest.
It's just a joke about the comment a few posts up about every movie being put in space.
WOW! Just watched this movie! It's so the producers used a $40 million budget but only got $13 mil in revenue. I'd rate this movie, from a scale of 1 to 10, 15 because it's so awesome! Being a science guy myself I love how the movie is so scientifically oriented. The movie doesn't JUST focus on the "horror" factor, but other scientific stuff too like the design of the ship itself. The rings around it = for artificial gravity. There's also hibernation and psychosis caused by being asleep for centuries. The science (or at least how it's shown anyway) in the movie is pretty accurate to humanity's real potentials in the future, not that FTL crap. I wanted to watch a scary space movie like Alien vs. Predator when i came to watch Pandorum, but what i got was something so astronomically awesome! Considering that you love science (especially the science affiliated with space travel, which I do!), you'd find this movie 2% scary and 98% breathtaking. This movie wanted to make its mark as a thriller, but i see it making a giant leap into the space/sci-fi genre. I'm just so speechless after the ending. It's both satisfying and hopeful for space-travel enthusiasts. The planet is depicted in such a...marvelous cosmic scenery! I think the whole NASA crew should go and watch this movie. Damn, almost tore my tear ducts out. Beautiful representation of space and space-travel itself...so beautiful...
Is it more sci-fi or horror? Is this basically another Event Horizon? Still might watch it.
No. Even Horizon dealed with different themes. Besides, Event Horizon was shit. This is apparently decent.
This was a really good movie. I liked the twist.
