I dont think you could have chosen a worse striker fired

How's that?
The m&p is fine. Cyke will find anything to whine about.
Doesn't the M&P have a really shitty trigger?
How's that?
Ignore him. The M&P is a great handgun. Really good ergonomics!
How's that?
The worst trigger out of any striker fired. Also looks like you got the compact model. Why?

Yea lets just lie to people about their purchases as if theyre not bad decisions. "Yea man, a Hi Point pistol is a great first pistol purchase! Great choice!"

I intend to get my concealed carry license and figured it'd be better to have a smaller firearm for that purpose.
What actually makes the trigger worse? "It's bad" isn't a real answer.

I like m&ps. People say they have bad triggers, but I've never really noticed it on ours.
I learned to shoot a handgun on it more or less, so maybe I just didn't know better, but it's not really any more worse or better than my sig's is.
But I always have trouble feeling a real difference in handgun triggers. If you like that on them, you're good to go. Most of the criticism leveled against them is pretty subjective stuff, anyways.

I don't know specifically why its bad, I just know from experience that it is objectively the worst trigger out of any striker fired pistol on the market today. If I had to guess why, its because of the terrible craftsmanship put into the pistol.
S&W has had recalls on its M&P series in the pass, trigger and trigger safety issues specifically, so that should tell you all you need to know about it.

None of us even recommended a M&P. Why bother asking for opinions if youre just going to ignore them?

If you cant tell the difference between a M&P and a Sig trigger, then you certainly cant tell the difference in triggers.
My go to will always be FN, HK or sig for handguns. It's just the brands I trust most, have had the best experiences with, and are just overall great looking guns with proven use over the years.

Just ignore the peanut gallery. The gun's yours now, get out there and practice, practice, practice.
If your local range offers basic handgun courses with 1 on 1 time, I highly, highly recommend it.
As time goes on and you get more expendable income, work your way up the caliber line and see if you feel more comfortable with others to round out your shooting performance. I feel most at home on a .45.
Three of my former coworkers swore by the M&Ps despite how my my other coworkers shat on them for it. They didn't have more malfunctions than anyone else on the range, so I really have no bad opinion of them. Hi Point, though...

:v:
I mean, gun to my head, my sig's trigger is of course a bit better.
But I'm pretty sure I took them both out and shot them after reading complaints in this thread, one after the other. Swapped from the Sig to the meme&p, and the difference was there I guess, but nothing really horrible. A little "squishier" I could say, nothing as bad as people make it out to be. Maybe I got the opposite of a lemon, though. The good one out of an otherwise bad batch :v:
The stock triggers in M&P's are total wank. Last time I shot one it was nigh impossible to tell when the trigger had reset.
But the good news, there are some sweet trigger sets that exist out there for them that improve things a whole bunch.
I'd avoid the 40cal models. I've heard and seen numerous horror stories of the slides cracking because S&W cheaped out on them. There's a reason why there are often a half dozen used M&P40's lying around in most Gun stores.

Personally, I hate subcompacts. They never feel right in my hand. A compact like a Glock 19 is small enough to conceal, but still large enough to be comfortable to shoot.

Oh by the way, I've got a security job lined up for the summer. I know this is slightly off topic, but does anyone have a recommendation for a decent flashlight/duty-belt flashlight holster combo? It can't be larger than 2 D-cells, they don't want us using flashlights as weapons.
Okay, I don't care how bad you think an M&P 9 is, there's no way you can compare it to a Hi Point.
My bad. At least the hipoint is more reliable and tougher than an M&P. I shouldnt have compared garbage to the Hipoint.

I've heard the new M&P 2.0 is actually pretty decent.
Kind of hard to zero a rifle on a 100m range when your rear sight doesn't get any lower than 200m. How do I zero like this at an indoor range? I'm not trying to shoot the floor or the ceiling.

From what I understand, the 200m mark is really 0-200m, because the rifle will experience negligible drop at that range (assuming you are talking old full-bore war rifles). What rifle btw, it matters

I still wouldnt trust it. S&W has had to many recalls to justify buying anything from them.

I have nothing against the M&P series, but they aren't good guns so I wouldn't recommend them to someone, especially not as a learning piece and certainly not as a carry piece.
S&W's guns tend to be AR's and revolvers, just not pistols.

I see a lot of people with the MP15 AR, it looks cool. How it is as an actual weapon for a first AR buy?

What im getting from all this is that I need to buy an S&W and put anime babe grips on it with anime stickers too. Is that correct?

The MP15 is probably the best factory AR on the market in its price range. I dunno what Cyke's beef with Smith is.

His beef is with their semi auto pistols only, which is understandable. They've certainly slipped since the early 2000's on that front but I don't think the newer M&P's are truly horrible pistols. I still wouldn't get one personally though but I also hate strikers.

The M&P AR-15 was the best bang for the buck in the past few years. With how the markets have gotten in the past few months, there may or may not be better options available.

A quick look at it confirms what ya'll said. Ooo first AR buy later this year maybe? I want one that has this sight on it:

I fuckin love that carry sight. Bring back CS nostalgia.
