sorry you're having such a shitty experience here. For the most part, this kinda nonsense doesn't happen. I meant what i said about practicing, though, now's the time to go put as many rounds through that thing as your budget allows. Know it and love it if you're going to carry it.
That's kind of an ongoing thing though. Cyke and Prusse have strong preferences and dislikes, and they're both vocal about them. That's always been their way, and I don't see them changing anytime soon.
I'm interested in buying a FAL or G3 just to have a damn sexy battle rifle for fun, but I get catching flack from my friends. Why is this so frowned upon to want to buy some badass guns for the simple point of owning them cause they're badass?
i couldn't care less about your choice of a subpar gun and how you feel like defending your purchase. i think gunfox' ban just shows the bias against not agreeing with the rest itt. the recall was for all shield models prior to some date in '13, if they fuck up once they can fuck up again. https://secure05.lwcdirect.com/front/frontQuestionnaire.jsp?linkparam=y&uID=0&p=mpshieldsafetyalert.com&loginType=skipWelcome&clientID=742&campaignID=63 i wouldn't buy any remington firearm ever again either based on how terribly pathetically shitty they handled the x-mark pro trigger recall the first time, and now again, combined with their horrible qc (or lack thereof) the last decade.
Everyone has a bad day. Ruger, S&W, SIG, Springfield, etc. Have all had recalls on a gun or two over the last 20 years. Cyke's beef with S&W seems biased based upon articles he's read online. Not to toot my own horn too much, but I get a chance to actually shoot just about every gun on the market these days and put them through the gauntlet. The shield, for what it is, has to be one of the best pistols out there for the money. We as civilians aren't kicking down doors and jumping in trenches, and about 99% of the time the enemies we face are of the wood pulp variety.

They'll come around when they see you blasting away with that glorious piece of stamped [del]German[/del] reproduction steel.

My sister wants to get a gun because she doesn't feel safe walking back to her car at night. While I think that's a reasonable reason to get a gun, she also didn't seem to understand that you really need to practice with a gun. She said something about "Well I don't intend on shooting someone if they're far away" as if accuracy is the only reason to train with your firearm.
One of the members on here was trying to sell an FAL for a couple months, just managed to do so, but said he didn't get as much for it as he'd like (guns aren't in as high demand with the current President in control).
I can't find any good FALs for sale locally, only Century junk. I almost caved and took one that was built with an Imbel parts kit but something just looked and felt off about it compared to the DSA I handled so I left it.

I got crazy busy and completely forgot. Edit: Buy hey due to that crazy time I got $800 in overtime
Dude it's gonna happen. Fuck the haters.
Do what I did. Go to your LGS and have them order this for you. Then, order 9-10 of these. They're original issue, dirt-cheap and, most importantly, reliable. Just be aware, you're going to want to get an automotive feeler gauge and a specialized rear-sight adjustment tool. The former you can order for pretty cheap just about anywhere. The latter tends to be expensive if you don't want to use a pair of needle-nose pliers when you go to zero, but I got an incredible deal on this one. For cleaning, a regular cleaning kit will work reasonably well. You're going to want a set of dental picks though, because roller-delayed blowback, as it turns out, is dirty as fuck and ends with powder residue physically caked and compacted around the trunion. I recommend a set with a mirror. Slings, don't get the German issue sling. It's a 3-point sling, and, while I haven't had any problems with mine, there are a lot of people out there who strongly dislike it. Rig something up with a Magpul sling, you should be able to get by with running a loop of 550 cord through the forward sling point and clipping it to that. Load-bearing equipment, I'm still figuring out. I'll get back to you on that when I'm out of school and working again.
Money money! Yeah, still got em sitting here for you. Been looking for you on Steam, but haven't seen you!
Yeah I haven't been online much at all lately.
No, hes banned because he doesnt understand the difference between offering a well thought out argument and snarky comebacks. I miss that distinction too sometimes I guess..
sorry you're having such a shitty experience here. For the most part, this kinda nonsense doesn't happen.
Nah it totally does. You just learn to enjoy it.
Holy shit everything I need. You're a hero, thank you so much!
No probs. Just a heads up, this rifle is going to be a massive money sink. The weapon itself is going to run you over 1k, and all of the gunshops I've visited are selling .308 for over a dollar a round, a ridiculous markup. SGAmmo is a good site for getting much better prices, if you're willing to buy in bulk and if your state allows ammo shipping for non-FFLs. The magazines are the most inexpensive part. They are, as far as I can tell, the cheapest magazines you will find anywhere on the market, for any firearm. The only thing less expensive would be stripper clips.* It's also a heavy bitch, which is kind of an endemic problem to battle rifles. If you're looking for something to run-and-gun or hike over mountains with, either look elsewhere or start working out, because I didn't realize how spoiled I was with the M4 the Army gave me until I picked this thing up. If you want something to take to the range every so often and bask in some fine, fine German engineering, look no further. *Cue Prusselusken jumping in and proving me wrong with a $1.75 magazine for a firearm I've only vaguely heard of :v:

I do only plan on taking it range shooting and making old people next me to go "what the fuck man." So it's perfect. I'm not too worried. I can't wait to feel it shoot straight baddassary.

I can't wait to feel it shoot straight baddassary.
About the shooting straight thing... I had problems zeroing mine. Must have blown through 200+ rounds over the course of a day, and it still wasn't grouping. I thought initially it was a problem with sight picture on my part, and I still believe that that played a role. I've also heard people (and by "people" I mean Ian from Forgotten Weapons) say that the 100 meter rear-sight-notch sucks, and I have to agree. That's not the whole story with me, though. I looked at the bolt, realized the rollers were totally mismatched. Ordered replacements from HK Parts, jerry-rigged a roofing nail into a roll-punch, switched them out, got the roll-pin back in, measured the factory rollers with a set of calipers. There was a slight naked-eye difference, and the calipers confirmed that they were out-of-spec. I haven't gotten the chance to test the accuracy again, though I suspect that there'll be some improvement. You're going to want to check that when you get yours, make sure the rollers match. You're also going to want to keep an eye on that bolt-gap per the manual, which is what the feeler gauge is for. One last thing you should be aware of, the selector switch is kind of out of reach if you have small-ish hands like I do. I end up having to flip the rifle on its side to reach it.

It's when shit hits the fan in multiple directions that being able to do things reflexively becomes important. This is true with everything. Shooting, driving, juggling, sex, whatever. If you're planning against being in a situation where you won't be 100% comfortable, you want your baseline as high as possible.
Shit dude that's good to know. Thank you so much seriously. I'm gonna save all this.
No problem, man. For reference, here's what the rollers I pulled from the gun look like: [t]https://s28.postimg.org/floum5zot/g3_rollers_old_Copy.jpg[/t] [t]https://s28.postimg.org/3xusrmajx/g3_rollers_old2_Copy.jpg[/t] Noticeable difference, yes?

That's shitty man. I'm going to take it apart as soon as I get it and just inspect it all and make sure it's all good. Or see what needs changing.
Dude it's gonna happen. Fuck the haters.
i love my PTR, haven't gotten to fire it nearly as much as I would like since I left it at home while i'm at school but it is so fun to shoot and the HK slap will never stop being sick as fuck

Full auto that shit i went through like 80 bucks in 10 seconds. OOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
The rental MP5 at my local range broke me for a month "ONE MORE"
Sorry for asking here but I don't know if there's a knife thread, if a knife has something to keep it closed is it still a gravity knife?
Sorry for asking here but I don't know if there's a knife thread, if a knife has something to keep it closed is it still a gravity knife?
Yes. Whether or not you can carry a gravity knife is dependent on your state. I carry a Fallschirmjager gravity knife persobally. Good blade you can find for about $80-100.
I'm from the UK, i can own one but it's illegal to buy sell or trade here but atm I'm in Thailand and can buy knives off street vendors so i thought i might get a leather man/ utility knife and balisong, if they get confiscated from my checked luggage I'll just play dumb
bali's are fun to play with but they are illegal to bring into the uk. I don't know about the UK's airport security but in the US playing dumb with something comparable to that would probably not end great at all
Just put it in a checked luggage bag and its not a problem ...right?
