shady soviet magic? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K73kKODFyzw
I looked up how one of these works and it uses some weird piston system in the case itself, which hold excess gas in the case. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/E4m8qlx.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/E9ZLUvB.jpg[/img_thumb] Right is the newer PSS-2 ammo and left is the PSS
So I inherited my granddads old Browning Auto 5 shotgun that I need to get the licences for, hopefully in a month or so. Some parts are missing, and some are not original, but it makes for a nice restoration project. Judging by the features and serial number this particular gun was made in FN Herstal factory in Belgium in 1930. It's missing it's friction rings and a bit of the locking block has broken off, as well as the firing pin being a little bit too long, as it pokes out of the bolt way too much. The bolt return spring housing has broken off, a common occurrence in these old guns. There's also a lot of pitting and rust on the surfaces and lots of scratches on the wood parts. The magazine restrictor plug is also missing as well as one of the locking screws. It is in working condition though, although shooting it without the friction rings is inadvisable. The stock is also not original, and it seems that the front sight isn't either. Plans are to replace that front sight with a modern Hi-Viz fiber sight that either clamps on the barrel or is attached with magnets to keep it as original as possible. Now I have all the parts necessary to fix this shotgun and make it my go-to hunting shotty. The wood needs to be refurbished, probably going to sand it down and then use oil to refinish it. The rust isn't that bad on the receiver, really. All the internal parts are there as well. And that's where the guide rail has broken off, it's a half-moon shaped rail that tends to break in heavy use. Browning later strengthened it by making it wider, and that requires a larger cut in the bolt, so it won'tfit in this one. All the other parts are in good condition tho. E: BTW, I also have a .308 Remington 700 rifle for bird and moose hunting, even though I don't hunt moose, but if I chose to do so, I've got the gun to do it, just need to witch to different ammo.
People do a lot of ostrich hunting in Finland? Never heard of using a 308 on bird.
It's illegal to hunt bird with a rifle larger than .22 in Ontario, and even then you can only hunt pheasant/partridge/grouse with it. Every other bird you legally have to use a shotgun. Turkey in particular must be done with a 20, 12, or 10 gauge and using only #4, 5, 6, or 7 shot, and anything migratory must be done using steel shot.
What kind of bird do you hunt with .308? :v:
Certainly not emu, you use a .303 for them.
Interesting, never heard of that before.
What kind of bird do you hunt with .308? :v:
My Dad hunts turkey all the time with a .222/12-ga O/U. My grandfather has a .308/12 O/U he sometimes uses, but he's not hunting turkey much at all anymore.
[t]http://www.janneheimonen.net/_gallery/Linnut/Kanalinnut/Metso/10.jpg[/t] these things weigh like 4 kilos and sit in a treetop gawking at you, a good .308 fmj will kill it without a mess while a .223 fmj will likely just tumble and do a lot more damage to the meat. Wanted to know what type of bird required. 308 is all
Alright, boys. Here she is. So fucking jealous.
CMP is possibly receiving 86,000 Garands from the Philippines http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/04/07/breaking-civilian-marksmanship-program-receive-86000-m1-garand-rifles-philippines/
Ordering from CMP is such a pain in the ass I don't know if I could be bothered to do it even if the rifles were free
Ordering some high profile scope rings for the PTR-91 so I can toss my Leopuld Rifleman II on there if I decide to set it up as a DMR style rifle. It's already got the bull barrel, she's basically begging for it.
Ordering from CMP is such a pain in the ass I don't know if I could be bothered to do it even if the rifles were free
? I filled out a four page form and mailed it to them along with a check and I got a brand new Criterion-barreled / new wood stock special grade for $1000 within two months, completely immaculate and accurate. A friend did the same thing and got a WW2-era service grade in great condition for $730 also in two months. Both of us got spam cans with 192rds of ammo loaded in 24 clips as well for like an extra $100. Buying that gun was an easier process than me trying to close out an old checking account in another state, or filing taxes via TurboTax.

I paid for a Field Grade, it took 5 months, but I ended up getting a Special Grade when it arrived.
IT'S SO SHINY AND CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL
I paid for a Field Grade, it took 5 months, but I ended up getting a Special Grade when it arrived.
how the fuck nuggets. you won. you win. period.

What small, handbag-size pistol would you recommend to someone who really doesn't like guns and has never touched one but definitely should have one? (asking for a friend) I know Kel-Tecs get a lot of hate but the P11 is very attractively priced.

Get two of them with nice leather holsters or a leather bag for it. You'll never go back.
A subcompact Glock. It has nothing a person who knows nothing about guns could screw up.

[t]http://www.imfdb.org/images/b/b8/DH-PPK-2.jpg[/t] [editline]8th April 2017[/editline] What you really want is a silver finish P7M13 [t]http://www.imfdb.org/images/c/cd/DH-P7M13-1.jpg[/t]

If the person is just going to buy one and leave it in their night stand drawer without taking it to the range to practice, tell them to buy MACE or something.
I paid for a Field Grade, it took 5 months, but I ended up getting a Special Grade when it arrived.
I'd say that M1 is worth every penny and then some for ya. I've been itching to shoot mine, but I haven't been able to find any lighter load .30 around here to shoot through it.
Anyone have any experience with a CZ 83? I'm debating replacing my PF9 with it (yes I know it's heavy). I'm between that (I'm a CZ addict) or a 9mm shield.
