Anyone have any experience with a CZ 83? I'm debating replacing my PF9 with it (yes I know it's heavy). I'm between that (I'm a CZ addict) or a 9mm shield.
Get a CZ RAMI if you can find one.
Accidentally ordered two BCM AR15 carry handles, so I guess that means I have to build an AR, right? What was the name of the space-age FN-esque AR furniture that came out recently?
Get a CZ RAMI if you can find one.
RAMI best small CZ
I'd say that M1 is worth every penny and then some for ya. I've been itching to shoot mine, but I haven't been able to find any lighter load .30 around here to shoot through it.
Which is why, about a month after I ordered the rifle, I ordered an adjustable gas plug. It allows me to shoot commercial grade ammo through the gun without a risk of bending the op rod.
Yeah, I plan to as well, I just keep doing this pesky thing of breaking my damned cars...
Don't replace it with any of those things, but definitely replace it.
I neeeeeed reasons. I shoot the shield well, but cz lust and $384. "It's heavy!" I know "But 380!" shot placement and good bullets "thicc" proper holster/carry positions "Hammer fi" Let me stop you right there.
Get a CZ RAMI if you can find one.
Hard to find, expensive for what it is, even with my hook-ups.
What small, handbag-size pistol would you recommend to someone who really doesn't like guns and has never touched one but definitely should have one? (asking for a friend) I know Kel-Tecs get a lot of hate but the P11 is very attractively priced.
Take a look here. I recommend something in 9mm. It's a relatively cheap, relatively controllable cartridge. There are a couple of options for the subcompact models. There's the Glock 26, which fits the subcompact bill and will accept any magazine that will fit in a full-size Glock 17 (including the 33-rounder if you want to dick around on the range). It has a standard capacity of 10 rounds, which should keep you from running afoul of most state/local magazine restriction laws. There's also the Glock 43, which has roughly similar dimensions to the 26, but feeds from a single-stack, 6-round magazine. This gives it a narrower width, aiding in concealment if you want to carry it on your person. You're severely limited on magazine capacity though, and I personally dislike subcompacts altogether as they're somewhat difficult to grip properly. If you think your friend can get away with it, opt for a Glock 19. It bridges the gap between a purse popper and a proper duty pistol. It might be a little more difficult to conceal, but if it comes time to use it, I'd rather bring something more controllable and with a little extra firepower. They're going to be using a purse anyway, might as well take advantage of the storage space. By the way, don't use a regular purse, that's asking for a negligent discharge. Get one designed specifically for concealed carry. As for ammunition, you're going to want to get between 300 and 400 round of practice ammo to start off. Check you state and local laws. If you can order it online and have it delivered directly to you, I recommend it. The gun stores I've been to tend to put a large markup on ammunition, it's much cheaper to order it online and in bulk. Assuming you've gone for a 9mm, get 124 grain FMJ for training. Like I said, 300-400 rounds. Top it off as you expend it. For carry ammo, order 100-200 rounds of 124 grain Federal HST. Cycle a 50 round box through the weapon to verify it'll feed. Most importantly, invest in training courses - fancy, expensive equipment is worthless if you haven't trained to use it under stress. If your life is in danger, your actions will be dictated by training and muscle memory, not by rational thought. If you have no training or muscle memory to fall back on, or if that training is flawed, you will be worse off than if you had stepped out the front door unarmed. Interhuman violence is nothing like what the movies or videogames portray it. It is callous, brutal and unforgiving, and its consequences are final. If you must compromise on anything cost or time-wise, do not compromise on training.
I hate glocks with a burning passion. I dont know why, but I hate how they look, feel, shoot, everything.
I neeeeeed reasons. I shoot the shield well, but cz lust and $384. "It's heavy!" It sounds like you want to carry a cz82 for the cool factor. If you want a cool pistol, then buy it. But youre a fool if you carry a horribly outdated pistol like that.
I hate glocks with a burning passion. I dont know why, but I hate how they look, feel, shoot, everything.
They're reliable and very utilitarian. It's like the AK of the pistol world, if the AK looked like a couple of crates nailed together.
I hate glocks with a burning passion. I dont know why, but I hate how they look, feel, shoot, everything.
I dont like them either but I carry a glock 19 during the summer time. You cant beat a glock when it comes to reliability
They're reliable and very utilitarian. It's like the AK of the pistol world, if the AK looked like a couple of crates nailed together.
I completely understand and know they are good pistols but it's something about them that I just...don't like and never will. Just a preference, I don't think they're horrible guns or shit or anything.
I completely understand and know they are good pistols but it's something about them that I just...don't like and never will. Just a preference, I don't think they're horrible guns or shit or anything.
Yeah. I'm not a huge fan, just because I think they're boring and would rather spend my money on something else. I'll buy one if I get into a police department that requires purchase of your own sidearm. Otherwise, I'll stick to cool things like CZs and Sigs and whatnot, if I decide to get another pistol. I'm more of a rifle guy anyway. I like how easy they are to control, I like their accuracy. I especially like military rifles, they appeal to the soldier in me. Speaking of, I qualified with the M16A2 on Saturday. 36 out of 40, which just barely gets me Expert. Fuckin' sweet. I also got some night footage of our guys burning off excess ammo, I can post 'em if y'all want. Whoever was in charge of ordering ammo ordered a whole crate of M856 tracers for some reason, so it makes for a pretty neat light show.
To me the M16A4 is the prettiest rifle ever. fuckin jizz
Prettiest black rifle maybe (but even that title is held by the M16A1, not the A4) But the prettiest rifle wears wood.
To me the M16A4 is the prettiest rifle ever. fuckin jizz
If I were going to fight the Soviets as they pour through the Fulda Gap, or the Taliban in the mountains of Afghanistan, yeah, I'd want one. Hell, I'd be happy with an A2, so long as I got plenty of ammo for it and didn't have to carry too much weight. Going house-to-house in Iraq or Syria? Give me the M4. With a 10.5 inch barrel, if at all possible.

fuckin jizz
They look great, but fuck are the real deals sloppy dust magnets. The last one I was issued was a brand new FN, not a scratch on it. Thing had about a 1/8th of play between the upper and lower, and some how all the sand and shit found its way into the buffer tube. Also 4 MOA kind of sucks when you're trying to hit a 24" bullseye at 500 meters. Also, quad rail = cheese grater or giant potato Now an M27 IAR I could do all day. They just started rolling those in as I got out, and being helos I never got a chance to shoot one.
M27s are fucking nice. Even if you take away the full-auto function, it's still a top-of-the-line rifle. One of the few instances of you jarheads getting something nice before we do.
I thought the IAR was great, the only thing I detested about it is that they shoved all the M249's to us Machine Gunners and said "Here it's a light machine gun so it's yours now." which equaled all the more shit for us to carry.
IAR would make a good DMR, but I'm doubtful it makes a good LMG.
Ok I got something for yall to discuss here. So for my FNS, I like to buy higher quality, more "premium" 9mm ammo for it when i shoot. I like shooting shinier things and to me I trust a brand like sig to use their ammo than some random brand I haven't heard of before that costs 1/4th the price and their ammo looks cheap as shit. Now my friends have been giving me shit for this for forever and said that it doesn't matter what 9mm I shoot that it's all the same. I disagree, but what are your guy's thoughts? Anyone else out there ok or go the route of paying more for better quality even though it might not make a huge difference?
I am only really picky with my antiques. Anything made after 1990 eats whatever's cheapest.
Next time i take my fns shooting, I'm going to also try out something other than just FMJ. I'm curious how HP and +P shoot.
I completely understand and know they are good pistols but it's something about them that I just...don't like and never will. Just a preference, I don't think they're horrible guns or shit or anything.
A third kinda cool, as Nutn would say back in the day when he was relevant and helpful. And you're not alone, I've never cared for the Glocks either and have been more of a Sig/HK/1911 fan personally. Just a personal taste is all it is. If everyone liked the same things, we wouldn't have business competition and things would be boring. [editline]10th April 2017[/editline]
I am only really picky with my antiques. Anything made after 1990 eats whatever's cheapest.
This. But I still pump Winny white box through my 1911 all the time and force feed Remington Core-lokts through my 60s Rem 7600 routinely. (Not that Remington ammo's cheap, but it's definitely not on the 'recommend shooting this through old guns all the time' list)
Next time i take my fns shooting, I'm going to also try out something other than just FMJ. I'm curious how HP and +P shoot.
I shot some +P hollow points (Federal HST) through my PCR a couple of weeks ago. It makes your hands tingle.

My Sig and P38 get whatever's cheapest. Only thing I'm debating being picky about is only buying brass-cased for my AR.
