First range trip update: I'm in love
Did you by chance ask an employee about the thread protector?
Did you by chance ask an employee about the thread protector?
How do you mean?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/gxjCCUA.jpg[/t] Added a glock 17 to my collection. Finding a G17 Gen3 slide was a pain in the ass.
Time to oil up. First coat has already brought out the grain of the wood nicely, more sanding with oil and extremely fine paper will make it shine as if it was lacquered. Then it's off to re-blue city.
How do you mean?
Had a customer day with grit in the omega symbol on his slide(exactly like yours), and was wondering if it was you.
Thought you guys would find this interesting:
so guys, brownells GI 20rnd mag or pmag 20? already got a lancer mag, but that thing is so flimsy i don't want any more of them
Flimsy how? You mean it feels flimsy? They definitely feel "cheaper" than PMags, although I know some people prefer them over PMags for the metal feed lips. I'd go with the 20rd PMag, I don't see a reason to use steel or aluminum AR mags with those available.
Lancers have been fine for me. Buy the Pmags. Generally cheaper and they work. Last time you ordered Brownells, you complained about the finish they used on em.
The "finish" on the brownells GI mags is actually a dry lubricant, to help it fit into magwells easier. Underneath, it's anodized.
I turn 21 tomorrow, am I good to order my AR-15 lower to my FFL dealer tonight? Is that a safe bet? Dont want to get in trouble/have them ship it back. Trying to pay those nice Aero Precision 30% sale prices.

Age doesn't matter until you go to pick it up. Worst case is the retailer would look at age on your ID, but they'll likely let it slide when they see your birthdate.
Order it, age only matters if you pick it up and if for some reason it arrives before you're 21 you'll just have to wait a few extra days to pick it up. They're not going to send it back.
I paid for my AK the day before my 18th birthday so the 24 hour wait period would be over and I could pick it up on my birthday.
sks acquired 1950 tula model with a hardwood stock, it was $270 and came with 100 rounds of old chinese ammo on a side note, are sks' hard to come by in the states? my PA buddy is jealous that i got one for under $500
Hard to come by? No not really I have a M59/66 and a norinco paratrooper model still. However are they more expensive then I will ever be willing to pay for one? Yes I bought both of those before they sky rocketed in price i got the yugo for 100$ and the norinco for 225$ now the yugo's are going for around 500 and the norinco is closer to 700 which is ridiculous

Yeah, after a certain point, some surplus rifles just aren't worth the price tag unless you're really into collecting them. Others though...
Yeah, after a certain point, some surplus rifles just aren't worth the price tag unless you're really into collecting them. I shot 300 rounds on Sunday so I'm a bit low
Any of you familiar with Lugers? Getting offered one for my polytech M14
I know a bit by proxy via researching my Mauser. Depends on what you need to know. If I don't know it, I can help you find it. Feel free to add me on Steam

Your friend get you hooked yet?
pretty much yeah. we just made a mini-club about guns within our CS club and we're planning on going to the range again this sunday. we're also planning on playing around with 3d printed parts, just as soon as we find a reliable 3d printing source also, something i forgot to share: my friend disassembled his p38 and showed me the tiny eagle and swastika marks on it. kinda blew my mind [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5168294/irl%20pictures/2017-04-30%2017.13.58-1.jpg[/t]

That's a military mark indicating it was approved by the military for use during the war. Civilian marks were Ns with a crown above them.
