As someone completely alien to reloading, how hard and expensive is it to pick up shot shell reloading?
I do clay targets, and supposedly, according to people at my club, the powder is really important and such. We shoot plenty of shells a day and am just wondering how viable it would be to reload them, and if it'd cost less in the long run.

Shot shell reloading is a pain and really not worth it when target load is so cheap. Honestly sounds like some fudd talking out of his ass thinking small variation in velocity will matter at ~30m or so. It doesn't.
Even the Olympic guys don't handload.

I suppose this is the guy who owns two fucking Perazzis, so yeah, I probably shouldn't be listening to him.
How about reloading for centrefire? Would that be a good investment in the future, if I were to buy one? I'd likely be picking up a .223, .308 or .303 (if I end up buying a SMLE).

Make financial sense if you enjoy it and shoot "standard" calibres. If you're like me though and really hate fucking about with hand loads, buy factory and sell the brass. Even worse when you have to buy special .311 projectiles for your 303.
It was $290 for 200 303 British rounds when I went into the gun shop last week. At 50c for a .311 projectile, 5c for a primer and 20c for powder I will be very happy if I can get 70c for each brass.
It's so strange that Illinois' CCW reciprocity is so restricted. Like, half of what you would consider "Gun Land USA" doesn't recognize it.
Its probably illinois' fault for being so fucky about guns

Whats their class for CCW like?
I think Illinois doesnt recognize a lot of other state's CCW's so it may just be out of spite since Illinois is basicaly mini ussr
It's a 16 hour course, 2 8h classes over the course of 2 days. You then have a waiting period for getting the license itself. IIRC you don't even pull a trigger until the last two hours.

The reciprocity is so bad that Texas didn't recognize it until last year
Illinois didn't have CCW until like 2015, and it can take time in other states to pass legislation recognizing the reciprocity.
Not gonna lie, if you had those made in patch form, I'd buy one just for laughs.
I kinda want to do this one and the G11 Come and Take It as embroidery.
We'll see how things pan out.

Yeah, the US Supreme Court and the ISRA had to practically drag the state legislature, kicking and screaming, into passing it.
I'm not happy about the wonderful variety of legally binding Gun Free Zones, but at least we're a Shall Issue state.

They cut it to 8 hours if you're either prior service or in the service like my dad and I. My dad's got his license, he carries either his G17 or his G23 pretty much every chance he gets. I'm planning on going for my license this summer.

Where is the cartridge under that SKS rifle?
What is that tripod for, you have an arm.
Where is your bayonet?
there better still be cosmoline on that mosin
Sergei Simonov rolls in his grave, remove this blasphemy immediately

The bayonet and 10rd mag for the Zastava SKS are in the closet. I usually use 35rd plastic mags for your discomfort. The bipod and monopod on the RFB are for the range, and no, there is none, if very little cosmoline on the M39, I haven't done anything to it. I think the Finns would be okay with that.

If you're still reloading .303, 7.62x39 projectiles are the exact same diameter, so look into that. You could buy a case of shitty corrosive surplus rounds, pull the projectiles, and use that for your .303.
[editline]k[/editline] Or be sensible and buy a case of pulled projectiles. Also I read your post wrong, so whoever has a .303 that reloads, this post is for you.
There isn't much surplus in Australia and it's not cheap so that won't work.
[editline]8th May 2017[/editline]
THe bullet weights are also very low
For some reason I've seen a lot more SA 7.7x56R around here than I have normal 303. In Ohio it was all Greek 303 surp.

I think you should buy some lead projectiles, or just use up the rest of the .311 ones I bought for the Mosin. I have like ~250 left.
Gander mountain filed for bankruptcy and are now liquidating all stores

Guarantee you it was already marked up 30% from MSRP too.

I've only been to a Gander Mountain once. The exchange rate was about $1CAD = $0.92USD at the time. The prices on their Browning X-Bolt rifles were $100 more than my store, not taking exchange rate into account. We were, at the time, selling black X-Bolts for like $799CAD. Gander had them for $899USD.
I did get my Browning hat there though, and the holster that my Sig sits in the safe in.
Gander was only good for when they rarely underpriced some milsurp rifle that none of the employees probably had a clue what it was from tradein. Also occasionally I could find .303 corelokt there.
I bought my M59/66A1 at Gander Mtn. You don't want to know how much I overpaid for it.
I bought my M1A National Match from them. $803 out the door.

That actually seems like a decent deal for an M1A, I'd probably go for one at that price.

MSRP on the basic ones is about $1700 iirc
$800 on a National Match is a fucking steal.
