Yeah didn't have that problem in Mississippi but I'm also 6'1 200lbs. I am however a ghost compared to others down here and obviously a Yankee but I've never had any negative attitude at gun stores due to that.
It's probably your local area. I've never had that problem up here in Illinois, and I've got terminal baby-face.
Tell you what though, next time someone pulls that shit with you, give them a snappy response. Be creative. Folks like that won't respect you unless you stand up for yourself.

I got the grips today and found that they do not fit my Broomhandle. It seems like they are a little too large in all dimensions, so I am not sure if they expanded during shipping or something. Any ideas? Thanks.

sounds like you have a bolo mauser, which has small grips

My C96 is a matching New Safety broomhandle. It has the original grip and a 5.5" barrel. I bought these grip panels because I was nervous about the originals getting dinged up through handling, as they are numbered to the gun and are made of a soft wood.

yes that one for sure sounds like a bolo mauser, as they have 5.5 inch barrels, they have smaller grips then the full size c96 pistols

Bolos have 3.9" barrels and squared-off grips. Brooms have 5.5" barrels with rounded grips. Here is a picture of my C96. You can see that it is not a Bolo.

I was trying to be polite and give him room to save some face instead of making him admit it's his fault they don't fit but he decided to go off on a tangent about something else entirely and now isn't answering jesus christ
literally how can you sit there and argue with me, like anyone who owns one of these things is going to be that ignorant about them
and then be wrong to boot??
Just sand the grips and refinish them

Takes a lot less time than dealing with an ass hole and mailing them back
yeah I'm gonna have to I just didn't really want to because I'm a lazy ass and don't have any files
I finally got out to my friends pasture again to sight in my eagle arms ar15 and test some different ammo.
Awesome tier
American eagle 223 50gr jhp
American eagle 223 55gr fmj-bt
Good tier
Tulammo 223 55gr fmj
Winchester 556 55gr fmj
American eagle 556 55gr fmj
Meh tier
Pmc 223 55gr fmj-bt
Garbo tier
Indepenence 556 55gr fmj
American eagle 556 62gr fmj-bt ball
All shot at 42 yards with a 16" barrel, 1:8 twist
Is it normal for 223 to get tighter groups in general than 556?
I've had decent results with Independence XM193I. Too bad it's out of stock in a lot of places.

It may just be your rate of twist, M855 doesn't shoot well at all out of my 1:9 AR, even at 25yds because the bullet is longer than a 69gr HPBT. It was impossible to zero with, looked like someone shot buckshot out of a rifled shotgun barrel. It shoots just fine out of my 1:7 upper though, plenty accurate.
civilian 223 is usually made to tighter specs than milsurp 5,56
american eagle is absolute garbage tier in my cz 527 too. danish m855 type and s&b m193 works very well though
Yes and no, depends on your chamber really, considering most ARs sold in the US are .223 wylde or 5.56.
More accurate if you have a .223 chamber or if you have once fired brass from whatever chamber you have and reload.
There is a sweet spot for velocity and accuracy, and 5.56 tends to run faster; consider as well the spec for M855 is 3-4 MOA, though that doesn't mean every lot will shoot that poorly.
Having shot the AE M855 vs the Danish M855, I would agree, different point of impact even at 25yds.
Yeah, mine is a 223 wylde chamber. The twist does explain why m855 got a group the size of a larger cantaloupe at 42 yards.M 193 didnt do too well either. AE223 seemed to be the tightest groups. I got pictures of each group, so i can test more in the future and compare them too. Anyone got any suggestions on what to try next? I think im gonna look for some more jacketed soft points.
Why buy any other 223 or 556 when zqi exist.

Isn't ZQI the stuff that's made in Turkey? I wouldn't be too optimistic about availability in the long-run.

Made in a military factory so I highly doubt its going anywhere anytime soon.
Went to the LGS today to compare the GP100 and the 686. They brought out a GP100 Match Competitor. They have the best price in the country on it. It was surprisingly smooth, and it fit me better than the S&W. I think I might buy it.
[editline]15th August 2016[/editline]
Fuck it, I'm buying it Thursday whether or not I sell my bike on Wednesday. My bank account will be empty if the sale doesn't go through, but fuck it.

Because Turkey can suck a pig, I'd rather buy Russian made ammo, and the steel cased stuff is still cheaper.
Because Turkey can suck a pig, I'd rather buy Russian made ammo, and the steel cased stuff is still cheaper.
An American company owns the whole setup, the ammo and firearms are just made in that Turkish factory. The Turkish government benefits from it to such a marginal degree its not even funny. Its around 30 cent a round so its as cheap as the steel case but better.
By this logic you shouldnt buy Wolf or Tulammo because of Russia preventing intervention in Syria and turning the civil war into a proxy war and causing hundreds of thousands to die.
Being idealistic is boring.
Today I scored a fist sized group free-standing with the K98k at 165 feet. So that's OK I guess.
Every pawn shop or gun store I've entered I've had the same general encounter with the owners where they act patronizing or dismissive towards me as a customer. I'll hear some the same "it looks like you've probably never handled a gun before" and similar remarks and I'm decided not to give any of them my business period. Is it generally this bad or is it because I'm a short little skinny white dude in the deep south. The tones are condescending and full of disrespect and I don't get how they can even remotely hold a business at this standard.
Here in VA, gun stores are usually pretty decent. It really, really pays to be a regular browser here where you go in, look at a few things and meander away with a box of shotgun shells or something small. They start to recognize you and feel more open. Pawn shops here (I don't go to them generally because they're all hood, like EVERY single one in our city is in the ghetto) all just seem low class and sketchy like every item is hot.
Gun shows, on the other hand, fucking suck. If you look remotely non-military or not 60 looking for a five-decade old hunting rifle, everyone assumes you are out to make an excuse as to why the shooting community is terrible and you're an awful, no good individual because you can't name the proper GI name of every individual screw and hole on a 1911 or M9. If you are slightly fat or completely lanky and look at an AR or handgun, the dealers will immediately try to run you off for not being 21 because you're looking at a tacticool gun and not a pellet shooter.
Jesus I love all my gun stores, pawn shops and gun shows around here. I almost forgot to buy anything at the last gun show I went to because everyone was super friendly and talkative. You guys have awful luck :v:
I like the gun stores around here, honestly. They're all friendly and helpful and spend a lot of time trying to help shooters get what they want. They all almost immediately cut sticker prices for ammo that's used for children to teach them to shoot. The gun shows just suuuuuuuck.
I don't even know how much free ammo my LGS has given me. When I had my Enfield, they just gave me half the .303 I ever put through that gun.

Steel case is 22-25 cents per round.
Every time I try and sell a gun, I get suckered into trading. Sigh now it's deciding between a FAL or an M1 Garand or holding out for cash.
Steel case is 22-25 cents per round.
9$ for a box of 30 5.56 is still incredibly cheap. Its worth it to spend the extra money for a great round.
Did any of the Bulgarian Makarovs come with 4.2" threaded barrels from Bulgaria? Also, does anyone know how long aftermarket threaded barrels for Makarovs are? Someone up here is asking $1500 for a Bulgarian Makarov with a threaded barrel and is calling it "real military surplus" and I'm just wondering if it's possible that the barrel was like that when it came from Bulgaria, or if he had this done up in the US just to try and fuck some idiot over up here.
I don't know why they'd bother threading barrels for PMs when they specifically produced the PB. I can't find anything about factory threaded barrels for PMs, either. No PBs have been exported so you can rule that out.
Why buy any other 223 or 556 when zqi exist.
Never heard of it.
Why, is it good or something?
Oh and my local gun stores depend on which one you go to. The best one is pretty friendly, and has a good indoor range, but sometimes insecure customers go in and misinterpret their banter for rudeness. The second best is a scheels, and my fiances dad works in the gun department there. Good selection and friendly staff, but the prices are a bit high and they have hardly any used stock. Then there is my personal favorite ffl transfer place, a pawn shop with super chill staff, but very small selection. $20 ffl transfers. Then there are a few less reputable pawn shops, and then the bottom of the barrel gun store is this buttfuckin huge monstrocity called badlands pawn that has is basically the super edgy pawn stars wannabe shop. Good selection, but the prices are WAY too high, and when I went to go look, about half the barrels of their used guns were filthy.
Never heard of it.

Turkish military 5.56, 30 rounds for $9. Best 5.56 you can get for the price. Aimsurplus and Walmart are the only places ive seen carry it. Walmart usually gets 2 cases with every ammo shipment.
They also have awesome 9mm and 7.62x51.
So after thinking about it I realized I don't need the Match Champion, so I'm trying to see if this one guy is still selling what appears to be a S&W 19 for $600.
Aimpoint Pro or save for an Aimpoint CompM4?
[editline]17th August 2016[/editline]
Nah whatever. I'll save for the CompM4 and practice with the iron untill then.

Go with the PRO. It's like half the price for pretty much the same functionality.
What is better than a Finnish Mosin? Two Finnish Mosins.
I got another one on the cheap, it cleaned up nice. An M28/30 to match my M91.

Left to right: Bulgarian type 10 with a type D lead core bullet. Polish circle 21 with LPS steel core bullets. East German 21 with 123gr "practice" bullets (fireballs maybe? light bullet)
