Is there a reason I'm having a hard time finding an A2 stock for my AR or is it just me?
Did you try Brownells, Midway USA, or BCM?
Did you try Brownells, Midway USA, or BCM?
Midway was out when I checked, I'll try brownells and BCM, thanks. Edit: Brownells has a few just the stock, BCM was out.
Question - anyone know much about the brass disks they put in SMLE rifle stocks? I have one in my 1918 Lithgow that I've been trying to research and I'm coming up with a whole lot of nothing. My disk reads: (top row) 2 T S (bottom row) 71.
I think it had something to do with the regiment it was issued to. Not positive though.
Mine didn't have a disc -- instead it had a gorgeous engraving on the stock. But yes, it's regimental information. I miss that gun.
I was thinking 2TS might mean 2nd Training Squadron but they didn't have a 2nd training squadron, only a 2nd Squadron.
I was thinking 2TS might mean 2nd Training Squadron but they didn't have a 2nd training squadron, only a 2nd Squadron.
I thought it might be something to do with training as well, but I haven't found anything yet. It has a date code of 5/44 on the stock along with the disk. I wonder if it was in North Africa, or somewhere in the Pacific.
It was an arsenal thing for keeping track of rifles wasn't it? I'm thinking the Martini-Enfield had it as well in the stock instead of the metal butt plate? Or am I thinking of a different country's rifle before The Great War?

[editline]27th September 2016[/editline] Wait, I think I've got it. No2 Territorial Squadron of the RNZAF was formed in 1930. It was renamed No2 squadron in 1938.
I forgot all the details of mine, but it was issued to an Aussie home guard unit in Queensland in 1918, then sent off to fight in WW2 before being given to an Austrian gendarmerie unit after the war as a police sniper rifle (stamped Osterreich Gendarmerie) prior to being imported surplus to the US. Pretty fucking awesome history on that one. [editline]26th September 2016[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/HLVbsTq.jpg[/t] I hope to fuck that the piece of shit who stole this rifle from me didn't hack it up. I wanna get another some day. I keep kind of hoping to run into this one in the local gun stores, I'd absolutely spend another $400 to have it back.
Story?
If you mean the theft story, we met on the range because he wanted to trade me a Colt 1903 (which I was skeptical of to begin with), the idea being to test fire the guns then and there. He didn't bring the Colt but handed me a neat French police pistol. While I was on the range test-firing it, he took the Enfield and jumped in his truck and drove off and the French pistol was broken. Guy never responded to my texts after that and never showed up to the monthly flea market again (he had a table there which he'd been at every month up to that point).

The police told me they couldn't do anything because it looked like I changed my mind about a trade. The gun is gone. I just hope he's taking care of it or flipped it to someone who will. I sold the French gun for parts and used the money toward my Model 10, which is a total lemon but I love it.
Went hunting today with my lever shotgun. Didn't get anything but wet, but the shotgun wasn't heavy or anything. Would still be out there if I had waders, I was stopped by a creek I couldn't cross.

Find out where he lives? You seem pretty accepting of being flat out robbed. I would be furious
What am I gonna do, though? Yeah, I was furious. Am I gonna go pick a fight with a guy who has a .303 with an 18" bayonet and give him legal pretext to shoot and/or spear me? No.
So apparently, this can happen to the unstoppable Glock: Yes, if you dry-fire a Glock a whole lot you can get some pretty weird failure modes, like the whole freaking breechface coming off. These happen from time to time in heavily dry-fired Glock firearms. Lesson learned: Get snap caps for dry firing.

It'll still run another 4,000 before you need to actually fix it. :downs:

God someone convince me to not get a PLR16 with a reason that isn't "it's a kel-tec"
God someone convince me to not get a PLR16 with a reason that isn't "it's a kel-tec"
The RDB is better.
RDB? Not familiar.
God someone convince me to not get a PLR16 with a reason that isn't "it's a kel-tec"
Because like $500 for a god awful AR clone is a waste of money.
Because like $500 for a god awful AR clone is a waste of money.
God awful? Most reviews I've seen of it seem to like it.
The RDB is better.
Theyre also virtually non existant and wildly overpriced. [editline]28th September 2016[/editline]
God awful? Most reviews I've seen of it seem to like it.
I should have phrased that better. Compared to what you can get for the same price for what that gun is, its an awful value. You cam get a Colt AR for about $150 more than that keltec costs.
