This isn't really that difficult of a problem to solve - you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill. Import them as rifles with full-length barrels, then import the cans and the proper barrels and either let users buy the part and do the conversion themselves or have the importer on this side of the pond do it. Chambering them in .300 blackout makes sense; it's essentially our domestic 9x39. There is another cartridge called .358 Gremlin which is even closer to 9x39.
Except youre gonna have a hard time importing sbr length rifle barrels and a can which is an nfa item.

Which if why you'd probably have to first import them as pistols then have them converted and suppressors made here in the US.
As quoted from Ar15.com on the AK side:
"I'm curious about how they will get them in the country. I believe import laws require a "sporting purpose" for any firearm to be legally imported.
Perhaps they are doing a parts kit with a locally sourced receiver and suppressor?"
"Same way they get the Saiga's and Vepr's in. This doesn't have any military features
No PG, brake, flash hider, bayonet lug or folding stock. Low capacity magazine as well. It basically is the definition of a sporting rifle"
"It's a civilian model that has a faux suppressor and a barrel that is the total length."

This is what I heard too. Apparently the report from a recent firearms convention thing in Russia is that the civilian VSS will have a full length barrel under the mock suppressor. That means no suppressor, no SBR, small mag, skeleton stock = full on hunting rifle ready for the US market. My life would be complete if this turns out to be true.
I presume if you were to convert the rifle the mock suppressor body could be built into a real suppressor. It's a pretty primitive can.

Yep. Have a gunsmith drill some ports along the barrel, rig up some baffles, and you're good to go.
Oh. Don't forget the paperwork. You don't want the ATF kicking your door in at fuck-you-o-clock in the morning.
Don't get your hopes up guys. We were supposed to get an AK12 import 5 years ago too....

I never heard that, what the fuck?

Oh wait, that was 2011, I was busy being a retarded teenager.

Different situation entirely though. The AK12 had to be re-imagined and is still going through weird growing pains with the Russian military (not to mention being made by Kalashnikov). The VSS is a gun that's been around for decades and the design/licensing was sold to a different company(Molot) for the expressed purpose of making a civilian version.

Also yea, the suppressor is stupid simple to make. Pay some money to chop the barrel down and port it, pay the stamps for SBR and suppressor, you're back in business.
Just sent payment out to a guy for a Colt Canada 15.7" IUR for my new AR build. All I need now is a stock and a BCG. and I'll have 2 full ARs.
Quick question, what's the word and you guys' thoughts on Palmetto AR's?
Last I heard they're decent for the price but my memory isn't so good on this.
$450 for an Aimpoint H-1 in a Larue Tactical mount

Decent guns, especially for the price. If you buy on their website, though, use a prepaid card, everybody's getting their CC numbers jacked from them this year and PSA hasn't done shit about it.
I wish I could buy a real AimPoint like that. I use Primary Arms because I am poor.

So I have no proof of it but my American Express got hijacked earlier this year. I couldn't figure out why because I barely use the thing. I -think- I used it to buy Christmas gifts from them though.
Honestly, without investigating any further I'd have to say that was probably it. All my other purchases were through PayPal.
My Mosin snapped its second sear today. Some of you might remember I had to replace it earlier this year. The replacement just broke in the same way. Soviet wartime pot metal...

It was a steal, so I jumped on it. I was planning to use that cash to pay down my credit card. I've got a PA micro dot on my Scorpion that I transferred over from my AK when I sold it.

When rifle no longer shoot, kill fritz to death with railroad spike on end of gun. Then take fritz gun.

Might want to take a look at the bolt and make sure there isn't something up with it. Unless you're firing 1,000 rounds a month, you shouldn't be going through parts like that.
A thousand rounds through a mauser-type action, in a month.
I have a feeling you'd get carpal tunnel syndrome first.

Both times it's happened on pulling the trigger and the shear point is where the trigger engages the sear. I took the time to examine this one and it looks like it was bent from the get-go so the trigger was putting too much force on it.
That'd probably cost more than replacing the sear another 3 times, though. :v:
Oh come one, you can't tell me you don't have any buddies who work in a machine shop :v:
That'd probably cost more than replacing the sear another 3 times, though. :v:
With your next sear try retempering it. it could just be that the metal was not properly heat treated and became to brittle.
Or you could say fuck it and replace the whole trigger assembly with this:
I can't imagine buying an adjustable trigger for a mosin.. these are strange times.
If you can source match-grade ammo and a barrel, why not?
We have AR pistols and 25 round 10-22 magazines. Why not?
Because I don't want to source those parts?
I enjoy my mosin for what it is.. a plinking tool. If I had to defend myself, i'd select every other weapon I have (save for my .22), before I select the mosin.
I mean, to each his own. But you aren't going to catch me buying one.
But if you don't take your Mosin with the bayonet on it, you'll never get to startle the home intruder by selling "ZA STALINA!" and running him through with the world's sharpest screwdriver.

The PKP Pecheneg Bullpup, I didn't even know this was a thing. Will we start seeing more bullpup belt-fed LMGs? It looks cool as fuck

I dunno man, if i was defending myself against a warrior alien race that had thickly armored shells, i think the mosin would be one of my top picks.
I think my Remington would do the trick too, and I know the trigger on it isn't going to snap randomly while firing, though.
Same for my ,303 for that matter.
it's soviet pot metal parts. They fail pretty regularly if they were used heavily before they were deemed surplus.
A solution could be to pay a machinist to just mill out a proper version from some scrap steel they have, if you're too wary of buying yet another replacement part.
I got no faith in the parts but across the dozen or so Mosins Ive owned, Ive never had an issue with parts consistently breaking.
