lol shit man you make me look tame by comparison and I just spent 300 on body armor lol........anyway how much you want for that condor MCS?
Shoot me a PM. I don't want to clog the thread by turning it into a flea market. Edit: I put all my surplus junk on my website so you can just order it from there if you guys wanted anyway. Well, it's settled. I'm putting in an order for a PTR this coming week.
My job is sending me to Maui for a week. Looking forward to visiting the gun-less hippie state for a whole week.
My job is sending me to Maui for a week. They only had a handful of pistols to rent out and they were tethered like the ones in Australia.
So I finally got to shoot my Finn M91 yesterday. What an amazingly satisfying rifle to shoot, further solidifying my love of milsurp crap... However I do see why subsequent evolutions of it were shorter, god damn is that thing heavy. Also the bore isn't as bad as I thought, as seen in the pictures I posted. After shooting it and getting it hot, it seemed to loosen up whatever deposits were in the bore that wouldn't come out with solvent when I initally cleaned it. When I got home and cleaned it I must have gone through 40 or so patches before I could brush the bore and not end up with a pitch black patch afterwards. Now the bore is bright, and the rifling looks sharp. Despite all that crap in the barrel that I thought was pitting and the fact that it was counterbored, it's more accurate than I am. Another interesting thing to note, the bullets in that East German training 7.62x54r actually have a major diameter of .308, which could account for it's perceived lack of accuracy out of a standard Nagant. If the bullets were heavier they might be pretty good in my m28/30. Speaking of which I saved all the PPU brass that I shot out of the m91 to reload for the m28/30. It seems to chamber regular x54 brass just fine with no interference, so I assume I could load .308 dia. bullets into PPU brass and not have to shoot $2 bills. EDIT: fixed caliber typo
7.7x56R is South African .303, right?
I went to a public shooting range in Oahu once just to check it out. It was sad. They only had a handful of pistols to rent out and they were tethered like the ones in Australia.
Tethered? Like tied to the shooting bench?
Tethered? Like tied to the shooting bench?
Yeah. With a metal wire.
Regarding the PTR, does anybody know if those German-surplus aluminum magazines are worth getting? I'm concerned about the durability, but you can't beat $4 per magazine vs. $10 for steel-bodied ones.
the german alu mags are the best ones. much lighter than the steel ones and if you get a small dent it's way easier to fix than on a steel mag.
How durable are they though? I don't exactly plan on low-crawling with them stowed in my LBE, but I'd like them to be able to take some abuse.
they handle it very well. the top part is reinforced too. i have shot at the mag body using a 180m/s air rifle and it barely dented it. the magazine housing walls are quite thick, more so than they seem.
Cool. That's what I've been gleaning from other forums too, that they're durable and reliable. I just ordered ten of them from Brownells. They ran me about $5 per magazine with shipping included, which is still an incredible deal compared with STANAGs or PMags.
So I just got out of a little meeting with some of my industry guys. As most of you already know everyone's gearing up for the election. What's not good is a lot of companies are banking on things going south. Some prominent manufacturers are hiding inventory and saying they're out if stock so they can get max value after the election. So if you've been having a hard time getting certain AR parts and guns that's mostly why. However, it's a double edge sword. A lot of these companies are putting all their eggs in one basket. If trump wins it's going to be a buyers delight as they'll all have too much inventory and they'll have to liquidate it to stay solvent. A trump win could be damaging to a lot of smaller manufacturers, and even the big dogs would take a pretty big hit. Long story short, regardless of who wins the entire firearms industry is going to change a lot.
Considering buying a Tikka t3 in 308 from a friend for my adventure into distance shooting, but at the same time I want to buy an AR as a precaution from the results of this election. What dooooo?
All y'all jonesing to buy an AR when I can't wait to sell mine as the prices climb :v:
Had a range day today. Got it out of my system for the last time before Winter and hunting season starts. I usually sit out Winter as to not piss off the hunters and because it's cold as tits. I think the magic of owning a KSG has worn off. It's not quite fun to shoot anymore and I had a couple malfunctions. Really strange failure to extract and a couple double feeds. But it's whatever. I'm over it now. KSG can go to the safe forever. This is your home now. I have a feeling I'll end up liking the SA-20 more and if I don't I'll try a 930. But definitely want the SA-20 for my Mom to use, since she can't handle a 12GA. I actually prefer 20GA but it's hard to find accessories for 20GA shells or 20GA shotguns. Oh, also here is my newest gear acquisition. HSGI Bleeder Pouch. I always brought a trauma kit but never had a place to put it and couldn't keep shears and a CAT together with it. Now I can. [t]https://i.gyazo.com/42d4149fceff62652270a5929382e095.png[/t] I'm addicted to gucci gear now.
Just picked up my complete lower today. I'm disappointed in how much I'm having to prepare

Its not like a ban is imminent, but better safe than sorry and all that.
Finally shot my AR today, first time firing one in 4 years. I had forgotten how small .223 cartridges are, after several years of 7.62x39 :P
Finally shot my AR today, first time firing one in 4 years. I had forgotten how small .223 cartridges are, after several years of 7.62x39 :P
My dad said the same after years of shooting 30-06 out of a surplus M1903A3. Last time he shot anything in 5.56, it was out of an M16A1, and some of the Drill Sergeants instructing him had been to Vietnam.
So... A GAU-8 Avenger behind a blast door while wearing hearing protection >>>> way worse than a .308 without anything. I love/hate my job.
So should I be stupid and save up some money to waste on a 7.5" 7.62x39 AR upper after I buy a scope for my current one?
So should I be stupid and save up some money to waste on a 7.5" 7.62x39 AR upper after I buy a scope for my current one?
Just get an upper in 5.56. Youve already got an AR in that, no sense buying new mags and different ammo. Unless x39 is way cheaper than 5.56, which since you can get Norinco ammo I dount thats the case.
Sorry I've been away guys. So, what's everyone panic hoarding before the election?
I haven't been in MN long enough to buy anything here....other than maybe a tikka which probably won't be panic hoarded
I've been hoarding car parts so I'm too broke for gats... Damn car keeps breaking on me on my route.
I've been hoarding car parts so I'm too broke for gats... Damn car keeps breaking on me on my route.
A PTR. Got the mags on order already, went to the local store after work today and placed one on order through them. Only really big purchase left is the ammo.
Sorry I've been away guys. So, what's everyone panic hoarding before the election?
Probably another case of 5.56 if I remember to. I have quite a bit on hand though.

IIRC it was like $250/1000 for 7.62x39 from Ukraine, and $360/1000 for Barnaul .223. Nobody imports Norinco ammo anymore for some reason, all that's left for it is .308 and 7.62x39, and that's from the importer digging it up in their warehouse and going "Oh, guess I can sell this now."
