.308 is damn expensive, I'd be tempted to get into reloading if it weren't for the fact that my PTR pretty much destroys brass on extraction :v:
Have you tried NATO type ammo? They should be able to handle the nasty ejection better. Another trick the HK users do is if you have a scope mounted, you rig a hat to the scope and have it hang over the ejection port. It cushions the impact on the side of the receiver by slowing down the brass and it catches the brass. Check out this HKpro thread for ideas. I'm just too lazy to learn the skillset or clear out a workspace for equipment.
I use to shoot competitively back 5 or so years ago but being sponsored by Bowtech allowed me to have really really nice bows that were juicy as fuck. Honestly with today's engineering bows are just like cars. It's all about brand preference and $$$$. I have not shot a Bear compound bow, but as long as it does the thing it's gonna be fine. Just go down to your local archery shop and shoot some and see how you like them.
Wasn't there an Archery Enthusiast tread at one point?
EU commission want's more bans, sorry Eurofriends. - Civilian firearms of “AR 15 family”, also derivatives - Civilian firearms of “AK 47 family”, also derivatives - ALL detachable magazines above 10 rounds (also for handguns, repeating-firearms, rimfires etc.) - Strong regulation of magazines and semi-automatic firearms Article: http://firearms-united.com/2016/11/19/ar15-ak47-ban/ Actual Proposal: https://www.parlament.gv.at/PAKT/EU/XXV/EU/12/28/EU_122858/imfname_10671764.pdf [editline][/editline] srsly tho how can we stop this

They'll have to pry my AK from my cold dead asscheeks.
Anyone here in the know regarding bows/crossbows? I'd like to get into either, but I'm not sure as to brands/types. There are a few pretty reasonably-priced ones at Canadian Tire, while it's not a specialty store it's got something to start
The only crossbow I'd buy is Excalibur. I suck at archery so I wouldn't get a normal bow, but in terms of crossbow Excalibur have a lifetime warranty, their factory is an hour's drive from where I live, and they're recurve so they're simple and easier to do things on yourself. If a string breaks on a compound bow, good luck restringing that yourself. If it breaks on a recurve, you buy the re-stringing aide and put the string on yourself. This is also why at the store I work at we basically never sell compound crossbows, we all prefer Excalibur.
So why does the EU try this shit every few months?
So why does the EU try this shit every few months?
Guns are scary, guns cause crime, or its harder to implement bullshit laws when you have a populace that will fight you over it. Take your pick
So why does the EU try this shit every few months?
American-style anti-gun idiocy is leaking through the media into Europe. I can understand registration, background checks, mandatory training/storage requirements and whatnot. Some of you might not agree with me on that, that's okay. As long as I can buy whatever I want for a reasonable price and use it as I see fit, I'm happy. Fuck AWBs, fuck magazine bans, fuck AP ammo-bans, and especially fuck automatic weapon bans.
Now that Cabela's has their black friday ad up, I've been eyeing a reloading press/kit. Has anyone had any bad experiences with RCBS rock chuckers? It comes down to 275 during the sale.
Jeez i'm reading over the conference, this shit's insane "semi-automatic fire is more effective than full-automatic fire for massacres" (Alain Alexis) -what... ""Demilitarized" firearms – e.g. those full-automatic firearms permanently converted to semi-automatic operation for civilian purposes – are identified as "Israeli and Russian military surplus" and as "still machineguns", thus to be banned. Full-automatic firearms should not be allowed to be kept by collectors or museums." -they are seriously saying that guns converted to NOT BE MACHINEGUNS are STILL MACHINEGUNS "if a person with eyeglasses takes them off, he or she will not be able to shoot" -i dont even.... read it yourself: http://www.gunsweek.com/en/events/articles/gun-rights-conference-european-parliament
"Should not be kept by museums" Is the EU having a legitimate stroke?????

RCBS is good for presses. Just use Lee reloading dies though. They are cheaper, come with all the pieces you need, and come with an anti stick coating while RCBS dies don't. Get the kit and the dies you want. Also, grab a Lee hand primer and a set of Lee hand priming shell holders.
They're literally going after historical items in the hands of historical institutions now. This is disgusting.

Went to the gun show yesterday, was sorely tempted by a 1920 Artillery Luger for $1600, but eventually convinced myself to pass it up and get a Lee-Enfield instead for a lot less. [t]https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t35.0-12/15133749_10210313651333974_1644946674_o.jpg?oh=2734bc86cf0eed880be8e1cceb9e9db3&oe=5833A71C[/t] It's a Long Branch No.4 Mk.I*, and all I know about it and Lee-Enfields in general is that it has a nice bore, smooth action, and good wood and that's really all I was looking for. That said, while I haven't shot it yet, I've messed around with some stripper clips the seller threw in and they don't seem to work very well. If I load the rounds in the clip all facing the same way they load very easily, but if I alternate the rims per this image the first one loads, then the second round gets hung up on the rim of the round above it and I seem to get rimlock in the clip (???) and they don't budge no matter how much pressure is applied. Bad clip, bad technique, or something else entirely?
So I decided it was finally time to invest in a safe. With my collection creeping up on the $10,000 of value mark I want it to be safe. I bought this; http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=101742766 The safe is 20% off and purchasing online today gives you another 20% off your order so I purchased it and am having it delivered for only 60% of what it normally costs.
paying more than $700 for any luger is fucking insane. here you get all numbers matching mint condition pre war lugers for around 500 bucks. [editline]20th November 2016[/editline] even an artillery luger won't be more than 1100 usd
Lugers aren't nearly that cheap here. An Arty luger for $1600 isnt a bad price
I wish I could even get a Luger here, the only ones that are legal are the Swiss commercial ones and the Artillery Lugers, and those cost $2500-$5000 depending. The only other way is to get one that's been re-barrelled to a longer barrel length that isn't banned, but then you're not getting all the historical value out of it.
What do y'all think of this? https://www.secureitgunstorage.com/product/locking-gun-cabinet-model-52/
Need some advice/resources here guys. Been fixing up my grandfathers guns which he took awful care of and am currently working on an H&R 852 Fieldsman which is missing the tube mag internals. Is there a "respected" parts dealer online? Simply googling gives me a few results but are there dealers I should avoid and vice versa?
"Should not be kept by museums" Is the EU having a legitimate stroke?????
They probably saw that scene in Demolition Man... [editline]20th November 2016[/editline]
What do y'all think of this? https://www.secureitgunstorage.com/product/locking-gun-cabinet-model-52/
I like the modularity for the gun rests. My AR and especially my Scorpion essentially just lean against the wall of the safe because they can't reach the barrel rests. My only concern is that it's lightweight. Make sure to load it down with ammo so someone can't just roll it out on a hand truck easily...
What do y'all think of this? https://www.secureitgunstorage.com/product/locking-gun-cabinet-model-52/
A gunsafe that needs to be assembled and it costs $600? Dont waste your money.
What do y'all think of this? https://www.secureitgunstorage.com/product/locking-gun-cabinet-model-52/

heavy-duty 14-gauge
Oxymoron in safe terminology
ultralight gun safe
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a safe? I'd rather have something heavy as all hell, bolted down with wedge anchors and big, fuck-off washers under the bolts anchoring it to the foundation. Ideally I'd like something so heavy I'd have to bust out the engine hoist to install it.
What do y'all think of this? https://www.secureitgunstorage.com/product/locking-gun-cabinet-model-52/
Buy a real safe. Gun cabinets are no good. Too easy to break into, and not really worth their flimsy protection. Check this video out on gun safes.
Buy a real safe. Gun cabinets are no good.
I am probably getting a Model 52, because I am on a budget and a cabinet is better than nothing and will be hidden away in the basement.
I am probably getting a Model 52, because I am on a budget and a cabinet is better than nothing and will be hidden away in the basement.
You can get a $70 safe at walmart that bolts to the wall and floor and holds 6 or 8 guns. A lot better, and probably cheaper, than a cabinet.

No idea about any others since none of the rest seem to ship to Canada.
