not from the sources we have here. all the barrels on brownells norway are pre-drilled. they're all either m4/gov profile or extremely expensive "match" barrels. probably going to go with an 18" barrel with the smoothest possible profile.
Easiest thing to do is to by a gas block, and install it upside down so the port is blocked and the vent is on the bottom. Or you can have the smith install the block like normal and use a setscrew to plug the vent.
I went out to buy a Henry lever gun today and came home with this instead. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Kk7IrCW.jpg[/img_thumb]
I went out to buy a Henry lever gun today and came home with this instead. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Kk7IrCW.jpg[/img_thumb]
Reminds of the time I went looking for a revolver and came home with an M1A instead! Well done!!
Reminds me of the time I went looking for a Mosin and came home with a Ruger 10/22 because "COMMUNISM IS FROWND UPON IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT." Not even kidding, it's what my FFL said.
Went to the range today with my brother. Let him use my nice earpro while I use my backup set. Now I got some pretty bad tinnitus...
Whenever I take a guest shooting, I give them my Howard Leights and I use foamies. That way they can clearly hear my commands, since I'm usually taking novices out.
Is a HK 33 parts kit worth picking up right now?
I'm going to be a grand deep in this AR. How did this happen?
Is a HK 33 parts kit worth picking up right now?
If it's on sale for black friday, then why not? It's not like HK33's or their clones are rare or anything, and theres even versions in 7.62x39 that take AKM mags. I wouldn't buy one unless you plan to build it.

This would be a long term project regaurdless of the kit.

You can get a comparable one at half the price and just as good, and you don't have to build it.
I'm going to be a grand deep in this AR. How did this happen?
as psycho said it's an AR I was planning on building a CHEAP (1000-1500) AR-10 in .308 I switched to 6.5CM and it'll be around 4 grand when I'm done if I don't do anything else besides what I have planned to it
Beretta order is in PTA is accepted and valid Good to go, now, for the $2900 we've yet to pay off...
Last night my girlfriend's dad told me he wants me to find him an AR-15 to buy. He said his budget is around $1,000. I was sort of caught off-guard, so I didn't have any recommendations ready to go. Are there any screaming deals left over from Black Friday? I don't think he wants to do any assembly himself, so either a fully-built rifle or a built upper + lower that he can just stick together. I'm thinking 16 inches because he made some noises about home defense as well. We're in CA, by the way.
So my sister went and got her CCW permit and a gun today. It's really making me consider it when I turn 21 next year. I know that asking the firearm chat is probably going to give me a biased answer but I am curious as to what you guys have to say. To all the CCW holders in this thread, why did you get a concealed carry? Do you feel any safer with it? Can you tell anything to a person on the fence about getting one?

I was put into a situation once, by my own stupidity, where I needed my pistol and I nearly died because it was under the drivers seat of my car instead of on my hip. Had I had a CCW, the situation could have been resolved peacefully. Ive got my ccw now and I carry every day.
I was a frequently sketched out pizza driver. The comforting weight of my carry pistol definitely made my job less nerve wracking

I carry because I have the means in which to do so and no good reason not to. Carrying for me is just habit now my holster stays on my belt and my carry gun lives on my night stand when it's not on me I grab it the same as I do my wallet/phone in the morning and go

Yeah, pretty much. What he currently has is a Beretta 950, so an AR would be a slight improvement I think.
Yeah, pretty much. What he currently has is a Beretta 950, so an AR would be a slight improvement I think.
That depends. Does he live out in the country, or in a populated neighborhood? If it's the latter case, he might be better off sticking with a pistol for the simple fact that it stands a lower chance of punching through the walls of his house and into a neighbor's. When you pick an AR for home defense, you want to either be living in a rural setting, or you want to select specialized ammunition like I've done. As for what kind of AR, I can only give you a general idea of what to look for. Don't go for one with a pistol grip and a bullet button. You're allowed one "assault weapon" feature before it's an assault weapon, and personally, I'd go with the detachable magazine over the pistol grip. Given that, you might be better off with a Ruger Mini-14 over an AR.

They're about to become illegal and so I think he's mainly getting it out of spite. He can always get a Mini 14 or other featureless rifle later. Good point about penetration, although his house is made of brick. As far as detachable magazines go, does anyone know if the opening of the AW registry will allow for bullet button removal? Because if so, it'd make it a lot more viable of an option.
I don't need a new shotgun, certainly not one with only an 18.7" barrel, but God damn if I don't want this stupid thing: http://www.tacticalimports.ca/ung12-p-457.html
