finally got a chance to fire my ptr, my second time shooting with my first being an old as fuck .22 short gallery gun. was fun as hell and the recoil was way less than expected. my uncle wants to take me shooting with it over winter break and i am certain a big part of that is because he wants to shoot it himself.

The gun was last oiled 4 years ago and has been in a foam case ever since, which has leached most of the oil out from the inside of the gun. Insides are brown with surface rust so I dunno what I'm going to do about that. Hammer spring feels a little weak but that might be normal for these pistols, anyone know? If it gives me any problems at the range I might just ask to keep it since it didn't cost the boss anything and he'd probably rather bring his Glock up than pay to get it worked on.

[/QUOTE] Hit it with oil and 0000 steel wool for the rust. Then use an oil that sticks to the parts well. Hell, give the entire gun a rub down.

Yeah, I've oiled it up pretty good right now but I don't really want to go at the insides myself so I might take it to my gunsmith to get it worked over if boss lets me keep it. The rear sight keeps drifting out of the slide so it needs to be looked at anyway. Really good feeling gun though, I can see why these are popular.

I've never actually fired a D/A revolver so I don't have anything to compare it to. It's a smooth pull that I passed the penny test with first try, so I'd guess the latter. It's as heavy as I'd expect a double action pull to be.
