Legally-distinct-from a Mauser action then. I dunno, you work it same as a Mauser :v:
Does a Mosin even have control round feeding like a Mauser?
Couldnt you say then, that most magazine fed bolt action guns work the same as a mauser?
I don't know, I don't even own any bolt guns :surrender:
Does a Mosin even have control round feeding like a Mauser?
No, the mosin is not a controlled feed weapon.
*(I have one, it's meh.)
Couldnt you say then, that most magazine fed bolt action guns work the same as a mauser?
Not really. Theyre both bolt actions and thats where the major similarities stop, for the most part
Went to the gun shop today to look at a P320RX saw the Winchester model 70 Super grade with the AAA maple stock goddamn that is a pretty rifle, But 1400$ is a little much even for me just to go Heh it's purdy

Like I said, I don't own any bolt guns so it's all the same to me. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the action of a Remington 700 and a Model 71 Mauser without picking them up and actually handling them.
I have both sitting here, excuse the bad lighting.
Picked up a winchester 1897 today.. beat up as fuck. There's no finish left, and it appears that it was once a trench gun, however bubba decided the heatshield was useless for his durr shotgun.
So i'm going to be restoring it back to its trenchy goodness.
Were those parked or was that a more recent development for the US army with the Garand?
1897s were blued
I'm contemplating parking this one. The bluing is completely gone, the finish can be described as "bare metal, beat to shit metal".
Ya, parking might your best bet for preventing further rust damage. Better than a gaudy ceracoat job.
Hey guys, need a bit of help with picking out a new scope for the .22LR.
Looking for preferably a 3-9x40mm scope, I've realised that I'm going to have to dump in a few dollars to make sure I get something that'll last and perform.
I'm hoping to spend, around, say, $300-600 AUD, though I'd like to settle around in the middle of that.
I also need a new scope mount, any go-to ones or will anyone moderately-priced one do?

Do they sell Nikkons and Vortexes down there? Weaver is another option.

I believe so, the current scope I've got on it is a Nikko Stirling, Silver Chrome I believe (can't find it online - mine is a, well, silver/chrome colour).
Is there a particular model of those brands you'd recommend? Also, is there any reliable online-retailer I might be able to order through?
Second for Nikon, the Prostaff series should fit your bill.
Something like this?

I meant Nikon, but ya. Optics Planet should have you covered. They have just about every optic you can shake a stick at, and that's a lot.

i have the 4-12x40mm version of this on my frankenruger http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-diamondback-3-9x40-riflescope-v-plex-reticle I really like vortex optics I run em on every scoped rifle I have
To me, a 3x9 scope is plenty for a 22lr rifle. It gives enough zoom to dial in for the shots at 50m.
generally i'd go with 3-9 on .22 (well .17HM2 in my case) as well but I got the 4-12 for cheaper then the 3-9 lol

Vortex makes a great 2x7 scope specifically for rimfire. Works great on my 10/22.
I don't know a damn thing about scopes at all so every time I'm ready to buy one for my 10/22 I just get overwhelmed and say "Fuck it, I'll stick with the iron sights." (Which, for the record, the iron sights on the 10/22 collector's edition are amazing.)
I trust Nikon, Weaver, Vortex, and Leopold in order of pricing. Nikon for cheapest, and Leopold for premium.

Sig actually puts out some good stuff. Their low end is made in the same place as vortex, and their highend is made in the same place at nightforce.
Speaking of Vortex optics, my Sparc AR and Primary Arms LER magnifier came in. I'll post pictures when I get off work.
Just got my latest copy of Australian Shooter. There's an advert in here for Finnish Mosins. Anyone what to guess the asking price?
$2000AUD.
If anyone wants a savage mark II F .22 PSA has em for 99 after rebate (use a prepaid card PSA's security is kinda sketch)
Damn that's a sweet deal.

5.56 NATO, C77. I did some research into it, it's SS109 produced in Canada. I really like the fact that it comes in 30-round boxes.

The plan is to get everything dialed in and tested tomorrow. Except the tracers. Finding a place that'll let me shoot tracers will take a little work :v:
My Sten was going to be here today, but then UPS decided to delay delivery for 4 days even though it's literally a 30 minute drive away. I could go pick it up except it's their company policy to hold my property from me if they decide to do so. I didn't pay to have it delivered in 4 days, I paid to have it today. I am not happy.
