ballistic test when
If I bought 2 of them I'd definitely test one. But I only got one.
Man AR15's are lame. Only one I'd do is build up an M16A1
Guess it's a case of ymmv then. I'm lukewarm on ARs as far as their status as cool guns, but you have to recognize their utility. Main reason I'm big on them is because they're close cousins to the carbine I carried in Basic and the rifle my unit has me draw from the arms room once or twice a year. I'm familiar with them, I'm trained on them. I know them inside and out. Handling one feels second nature.
I guess if you're looking for a really cool rifle, a PTR might be a good option. I've been looking at them myself. Just a matter of saving up.

Goddammit dude, what's the point of buying something and posting about it in a firearms thread if you're not gonna shoot it, one way or another? :v:

Yeah a PTR is certainly on my list. I just don't like the style of AR's. I recognize the utility but I don't need utility for what will always just amount to a range toy for me. Just have bigger fish to fry right now like moving across the country.
I like my MP15 but I'd trade it for an original civvie AR or an M16A1 in a heartbeat.
Sorry, just got back. The photos are from different days. The B-17 was actually like 9 years ago, the B-29 is in Denver this weekend, along with Gunfighter and Bucket of Bolts.
Ah I see. I just remember seeing Fifi at my local airplane museum as a kid.

I thought ARs were pretty meh, but i got one because i wanted to be able to use the piles and piles of cheap .223 everywhere.
Now i love it. Its just so damn comfy to shoot.

Pretty interesting. It only goes off "registered" guns in each state but it's kinda surprising none the less.
I bought an AR because I shot a full-auto M4 in Michigan.
alright
so i got around to seriously messing with those grip panels for my c96
and like
considering the esoteric nature of this gun, the way everything was hand-fitted back in the day, and the weird shape of the grip, you know, i can understand some minor fitment issues right
but this
this is inexcusable
[t]http://i.imgur.com/NsK012a.jpg[/t]
like are u fuckin kidding me
yes that's the screw that came with the grips
these things are so far outta whack i'm convinced they were just made from a reference image by a guy who's never seen or handled the real deal
it's a shame cause the wood is really pretty but it also doesn't match the gun at all so i'm going to have to stain it darker
Is the issue just that the left grip panel allows the screw to sit too deeply? You could probably fix that with a plastic bushing or stacking a few washers. If the screw itself is just too long, why not use the one from whatever grips you're replacing?
it's too long and the original grip screw is too big for the escutcheon on the repros, besides one of the reasons i'm doing this is because i'm paranoid about scratching up the original numbered grip screw while removing the grips for cleaning
i ended up clipping the new screw with dikes, i just can't believe he ships them out like that on top of the panels themselves being so crude and needing tons of work to even fit in the grip frame. ridiculous
Only the Germans would number a grip screw.....
I had a buddy tell me about a Chilean Mauser he found where every single screw on it was numbered to the gun.

:why:
Just fired a box of Winchester's steel case ammo. They advertise clean burning powder, but the rounds are fucking filthy from the box. After loading every mag, my fingers had a coating of metallic powder. Shot fine but holy fuck Winchester, clean up your act. Clean burning, yes. Clean ammo, hell no.
I'd take Wolf/Tula over the Winchester stuff since they don't coat my hands in residue even if those rounds aren't as "clean" burning.
Is it cheaper than wolf/tula?

Winchester white box brass ammo is like that, even. Put 100rds through my Remington R1 a few years back and everything forward of the trigger guard was just gray like WTC rubble.

Not really.
Fired 100 rounds of blazer brass through my new CZ. In 1 bix there was probably 10 rounds that didnt have gunpowder in them and the primer just launched the bullet far enough to dislodge it from the casing. 10/10 ammo would buy again.

Man I've never had problems with blazer past it being just mediocre ammunition. Granted this is in .45, but I've gone through about 1000 rounds of it with my 4506.
Just bought a HK VP9 tactical, as excited as I am to get it, I really want a Cold Delta Elite now lol

The gun powder wasn't the problem. If you wiped the rounds down with a clothe, before you loaded it, you would get black soot/metallic particles just from the exterior of the round.

I've put nearly 1000 rounds of Blazer Brass through my Sig with no issues. Don't know how you ended up with that bad of a batch.
Generally speaking, I shoot Winny white box in my .45 and 9mm with no issues and Federal or Remington in my rifles with no problems. I just clean them when I'm done shooting. I've never had ammo-related failures or squibs from them what so ever.

Sometimes, someone on the assembly line just completely fucks up. I remember taking an ammo handler class for the Guard last year, they mentioned an MP unit going to the range with a bunch of 9mm NATO that had all backward primers.
That's why not mixing lot numbers is important. The manufacturers need to be able to put out a recall on that shit, then figure out where the fuck-up happened and how to prevent it in the future.

Ive used it many times before without issue but this time I guess I just got a bad batch. Last time I ever buy it though.

I still wish I bought that bucket of tracer .303 when I had the chance.
My range doesn't allow tracers. And the only other place to shoot outdoors is currently closed.
