My wife signed me up for a reloading class. It was a great experience. I hope to get some equipment next year.
RCBS Rock Chucker kit and LEE dies will get you started. Unless you want to go ultra cheap and old school with the old reloading sets that was just a die and a hammer.
I got about 200 rounds of misc ammo and some okay boxes to keep brass in.

That's what they recommended. If I wanted to do some more bulk reloading, I'll look into other reloading equipment.

Avoid. Leather. Holsters.
Avoid. Leather. Holsters.
I was unaware. Is it because they bend in and grab the trigger?
I only use leather holsters. Hard molded leather is no different than a kydex holster or something safety-wise and I find they provide a smoother draw, look nicer and wear better.

Yep. Resident FP'er had a ND because of this.

except no. Just get a Kydex for gods sake. The only reason we used leather for so long is because Kydex didn't exist until recently.
Some of you guys have the dumbest quirks imaginable. No, it's not a good idea to CC a 40 year old single stack 9x18 bolshevik piece of shit, it's not a good idea to CC a 1911, and its not a good idea to use a leather holster for CC. Your guys' quirks are downright dangerous.
None of mine cover the triggers, so... :v:
I hate kydex, leather is comfortable and easy on the finish besides.

Who cares about finish wear on a CC gun? Kydex is better in every single regard to leather, and more importantly it's safer. Why take the risk with leather? Kydex tends to be cheaper than leather anyways. You're just spending more money to put yourself at risk and be an idiot.
[editline]26th December 2016[/editline]
And you're using a CC holster that doesn't protect the trigger? What the hell is wrong with you.
I don't see the risk. My holsters physically cannot contact the trigger to cause a ND. It is impossible.
I carry underarm beneath my coat, I'm too skinny to IWB a full-size handgun. I take safety pretty seriously but you're overstating the risk here. If they were that dangerous nobody'd be using them.

Thats like saying "if 1911's were garbage, nobody would use them." But they are garbage and people do use them. The US' gun market reeks of nostalgia, and leather holsters is part of that garbage. Everyone should have moved to Kydex the second it came on the market. But nope, we gotta deal with leathermakers overcharging for dangerous garbage.

Buy a real gun, nerd.
Man, I really didn't mean to spark a debate. I just liked the holster...

It's a nice holster but be careful and properly maintain it. Replace it with a kydex when you get the money.

Ive got a proper modern ruger double stack polymer frame gun.
This drama is hilarious. Don't stop.

Get a Raw Dog Tactical. Kydex body for the weapon, leather backing for comfort.
Is leather innards and a kydex shell too complicated or too thick so you get a holster that doesn't fuck up your finish?
Is leather innards and a kydex shell too complicated or too thick so you get a holster that doesn't fuck up your finish?
If you're going to carry a pistol for self-defense, don't carry a collectible. Get a Glock or another workhorse you can scratch and beat to hell without worrying about resale value, or the fact that if you have to use it, it's going to rust to hell in a police evidence locker.
fucking damn my german pesticide friend, you are impressingly on point about how the us gun markets keeps making buying and selling old antiquated pieces of shit because MUH MURREENS USE MUH NEYNTINELEBUN STOPPAN POWA FODDYFIVE OR BUST..
Everyone here is being far too critical about the matter. At the end of the day a 1911 or a makarov will put a guy down if need be. Sure there's a lot more modern designs available, but if it's your preference its your preference. If you think you need a .45 carry a .45. if you want to wear leather over kydex wear leather. As long as you can use sound judgment and common sense anything will work well for you.

If you want to carry a .45, carry anything except a 1911. If you need to carry a 9x18, carry a double stack mak. Carrying a 1911 or a single stack firearm in general is downright reckless.
There is no viable reason in almost-2017 to carry a 1911 or a Mak. Youre carrying a firearm for self defense, not as a fashion accessory.

Having a leather interior to a kydex holster would defeat the point of a kydex holster.
I carry an FNX .45 in a leather shoulder holster. It is fine. People really shouldn't lose their shit over this.
Six hundred bucks and a $100 gift card to Gander.... and my ECU is officially dead.
Dammit car, how do you ALWAYS know when I have dosh for a new gat?!

If it makes you feel any better, I can't even go to the stores to use my gift cards today because the entirety of ND's roads are shut down and theres a 5ft snow drift in my driveway. Damn you NDDOT and your useless snow plows.

Double stack is a marginal increase in size for a much larger capacity.
[editline]26th December 2016[/editline]
You should carry what you have access to. A single stack mak or 1911 is better than no gun. Stop acting like carrying something you don't like is the equivilant of trying to resurrect hitler.
If you've got the money to buy a $300 mak, you've got the money to buy a CZ clone. If you've got the money to buy a $1,100 1911, you've got the money to buy any reasonable CC pistol.

You're making these assumptions based off what works for YOU. A single stack 1911 carries and hides nicer than my double stack FNX .45. A Single Stack Mak carries better and lighter than a double stack mak. You're not going into a firefight every day you walk out the door, and while I'm a fan of capacity I carry based on where I'm going. If I'm at my gunshop sure I'll carry my P226 with 20rd mags, because if people are going to rob the place they're going to come in blazing. If I'm going to school I'm going to carry my 220 or my 938, because the largest threat in the cities is a mugger or two.
Of course this is my opinion, and there are things that do actually matter across the bored when it comes to carrying. YOUR choice of firearm and holster only matters if what you're doing is blatantly unsafe.
Cyke thinks if you're more comfortable and shoot better with a 1911 you're still wrong for not carrying a "better" gun that he approves of.
I'd carry my cap and ball 1851 Navy if it's all I had and in fact I have. I guarantee a .44 lead ball will put a bad guy on his ass just as well as anything else. Ultimately a gun is a gun and the differences in safety are marginal at best. The 1851 Navy with the hammer down on an empty chamber or a safety notch between them is as inert and safe as a cinderblock and can be made ready to go in the drawing motion. Yeah a modern gun is an improvement and if you have one your odds are that much better on paper but it's better to have something than nothing and you aren't stupid for choosing to carry something you're familiar with or which meshes well with your particular circumstances.
