Ever look at the P238/P938, P290 or P239? If you're anti-glock and need something ultra-small, then thats the way to go I think.
I'm not at all a fan of Subcompacts, but I do carry a glock 19 on a regular basis. Fits nicely on my side and never bites when I'm driving or sitting down. I've even taken it to the movies with me and it never bothered me at all.
That is an excellent suggestion, thanks. I have a 229 and hadnt even considered looking at si-...wait most of these are 1911's. Who are you and what have you done with cyke?
Alright so I'm still pretty new to owning firearms, but recently an opportunity to buy a Krag-Jorgensen for a p gud price of like $1,200 has presented itself. Its one gun on my list of most desirable due to its cool mag and the fact that my last name is Jorgenson. This would probably be the biggest single purchase I've ever made, and I want to take the absolute best care I can of this gun. However, due to scarcity of 30-40 Krag, I feel like it will spend a lot of time in storage. So my questions are:
How can I make sure that it wont rust n shit? I was originally thinking about getting one of them gun cases and putting in a dehumidifier along with keeping her well oiled, but read about how those apparently hold moisture and can make things worse.
Would a gun cabinet be a better option? Due to living situation, a gun safe is out of the question.
Then further more, how do i go about oiling her up? Just rub it on? Do i need to worry about getting it on the stock?
Then when I finally have the possibility to shoot, do I need to clean it again before shooting? Or will that depend on what product I use?
Also anyone else own a Krag and can tell me if that's a decent price for one? They had another with and original stock, but was like $300 more, and I dont really care about having an original stock. The one I'm looking at has a 1903 stock.
Thanks in advance, fam. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Not just about the Krag, but also general firearms upkeep, because that's the area I know little about

4-5 702 Plinkster 10rd Mags, maybe higher cap if you can find them and they fit the 802 (702 semi-auto 802 bolt action.
Well, my local store sold the CZ 75 Compact I'd been looking at, and couldn't get any new ones through their suppliers.
We had a bit of a talk, and they put a CZ 75 D PCR Compact on order for me. From what I understand, it's pretty similar to a CZ 75 C, just a little nicer.
EDIT: It has a decocker, but no manual safety. No biggie, I've learned from talking to LE officers that you generally don't want a manual safety, you want to be able to draw your weapon and put it into action immediately. Safety for them means having a holster with level 2 or 3 retention.
Decockers > Manual safeties
Yeah I wish I could have gotten the decocker on my RAMI, but it doesn't really matter. You can only engage the safety while the hammer is fully back, and I don't intend on carrying cocked and locked. Would be nice for decocking but the hammer is surprisingly nice to use your thumb with for a smaller gun.
I love the decocker on my 75b Omega. I have the manual safety for it still but I don't think I'll ever swap it out.
Speaking of decocking, how important is it to decock for storage? The only way I can decock my O/U is with snapcaps, or, you know, dry firing (no thanks). Is it important or is it nothing to worry about unless you CC or something?

As far as storage goes, you don't need too decock unless you want to be ultra safe. Springs only wear out when the tension is released or it's put back on, so your O/U is fine being cocked in storage.
[editline]4th January 2017[/editline]
Plus your OU is going to cock on open right? Won't make much sense to decock it in storage.
A friend offered me his lightly used DDM4V5 .300 BLK for $750, should I get it?
He wants to offload it so he can buy a Ruger MK IV Hunter.
I can reload, so the cost of .300blk isn't prohibitive for me, and considering the retail price of the rifle, it's a deal; I'm just not sure how I feel about .300blk...

Yeah, the ejectors should be fine too, right? Not sure how they work, but there's not much to go wrong with them so I'll assume they're fine too.

Too me at least, .300blk seems kind of pointless unless you're going to be firing it out of a suppressor. $750 for a DDM4V5 is a good deal though. I had one in 5.56 and as much as I hate AR's, I can't diss that rifle.

As long as you're not dry firing it without snap caps.

750$ for a DDM4V5? if you don't buy it I will lol I've shot a few DD guns and they are insanely nice rifles even at MSRP and for 750$ it's basically highway robbery. as far as .300 blk goes I really like the round I have 3 guns chambered for it right now (10.5" AR pistol, 16" AR and a remington 700 SPS) the 700 is surprisingly accurate shooting my normal suppressed A1680/208 AMAX load and the supersonic H110/125 SMK
Fun story for the ages:
Underage kid on reddit decides he really really wants a saiga 12.
So, he purchases one online from a "100% american seller" who "imports from overseas"
Using bitcoins.
Shipping direct to his house.
And he's pissed because "it got caught in customs" so he's seeking a refund.
Which the dude is rejecting, duh.
The kicker is this isn't the first time he's done this (bought gun online with bitcoin and then shipped direct, made it to his house alright though) and he's seriously... SERIOUSLY... underestimating the sheer gravity of the fact that he's committed multiple felonies multiple times and has documented it on a public forum.
After a while of saving up, I got myself a new addition to my collection:

I have heard great things of FN in general and the FNX specifically from a lot of my Fed and local LEO friends. I also got a box of Federal target and Hornady hollowpoints to go with it, need to find a good holster as well.
Are you eventually going to get a suppressor? If yes, then sounds like a good idea, if no then why bother?
I am eventually; the funny part is that he's been waiting on his stamp since June.
Turns out the store had a CZ 75D PCR Compact in back and didn't realize it. I filled out the 4473 and payed for it after I got off work, so I'm clear to pick it up Saturday.
Only issue is, it comes with a pair of 10-round magazines. :v: I'm a regular though, so we worked out a deal. I bought the pistol, they ordered a pair of 14-rounders. They should be in by the time I pick it up. I'll walk away with the 14-rounders, they'll hold onto the 10-rounders and sell them to one of those poor bastards who has to deal with Chicago laws.
I'm pretty stoked.
So I just wanted to give a shout-out to my Mossberg 702 Plinkster. I picked it up when it was about $80 at Wal-Mart and I've had it for about 13 years now. It has the most woodchuck, rat, and squirrel kills out of any of my guns. I have never cleaned it once and have put in excess of 10,000 rounds through it (ah back when 22LR was super cheep). It is beat from sitting in the barn and has a nice coat of rust and pitting. I have never had a single malfunction with it so go you 702, you're the real MVP.
Welp, I'm really excited for the Colt Cobra coming out. Colt is finally making some wheel guns that people want.

Where the fuck is there a gun section in wall mart.
I'm not even American and I know Walmarts have gun sections.
Where the fuck is there a gun section in wall mart.
I'd hardly call it a gun section; It's more like a gun corner, where they only have like half a dozen shotguns and 22s behind glass and some ammo behind a counter.
