Where the fuck is there a gun section in wall mart.
Most walmarts have sporting goods that sell guns. Where do you live where your walmart doesnt sell guns?
I bought a cheapo $30 Tasco Red Dot for my SW22 Victory, not realizing that it has a dovetail mount and not a Picatinny that the SW has. Either I can hunt for an adapter that I can't find, or I can just mount it to my Marlin 795 and go back to the regular sights on the pistol. I searched around a bit and it's slim pickings on a dovetail-to-picatinny adapter, any suggestions?
Duct tape.

If it has the originals trigger pull I'll bite on it. I've got a feeling it's going to pony priced though.
With an MSRP of $699 it might not be too bad, once the initial oooo's and ahhh's wear off we might see them around high 5's low 6's. Or they might not make enough to keep up with demand and they'll hit $800+
So I don't know if anyone else here has experience with reloading but I did have a question. When it comes to 5.56, how important is it to crimp?
Some people on other forums have said it's not important with 5.56 but I just wanted to see what you all thought.
I'd crimp anything going into a semi.

really depends on the load/gun if i'm shooting hot or in a particularly hard (for 5.56) recoiling semi I'll throw a .002 crimp on it. If it's in a bolt gun or a lower power accuracy load I don't bother as I've found no crimp helps accuracy a wee bit
I'm considering moving to the Falklands temporarily or purchasing land there purely just to get guns to then move them up to Crete. Since the only weapons not allowed there are full autos i'm pretty sure there will be a number of weapons left over from the Falklands war (and ones i can import from South American sellers) i can purchase, I've talked with a few people i know who've visited and apprantly Sterlings and L1A1S can still be found sadly in somewhat not-too-good condition.

However the distance is immense, when it would probably be easier to settle down in Crete and hopefully over time make my way into the slightly less than legal gun market that exists on the small Islands below Greece.
Glock 18 for 200$, not bad really. Not a fan of Glocks, i'd much prefer a Hi-Power.

That's what I'm reading in other places. I haven't done any crimping yet since I'm finding out the best 77gr load. Once I do, I'll be sure to crimp.

I'm going to feed my AR one round at a time while getting the right powder load. Once I get that dialed in, I'll crimp.

Its not worth it to get into the illegal gun market. Been there done that. If youre interested in guns and wanto do so legally, move to the US or NZ.
I give this advice to a lot of the members (people who pay annual fees and shoot as much as much as we all wish we could). It's good to practice consistently, but you don't want to consistently practice the same thing. One whom participated for the first time in our weekly competition always practiced one or two shot groupings had built up the habit of taking his shots then removing his trigger finger from not only the trigger, but the trigger guard entirely. Very safe, but very slow, especially when you have to shoot each target three times in a stage (Mozambique drill specifically). He would take two shots at the chest, remove his finger to place it on the slide then place it back on for the third shot, and he had no idea he was doing this.

Definitely crimp, or when the cartridge is loaded into the chamber, the bullet will get pushed back into the casing. It's happened to me.

I'd argue it really isn't most walmarts anymore. A lot of the ones in Ohio have phased guns out, even some in Mississippi. Been a while since I've seen a gun section in a Michigan one either, Indiana still has them around iirc. Colorado here is hit and miss.

I think ND has like 9 walmarts total and every one carries guns. All but 1 I went to in Florida had them. Its more common than not. Only anti gun states dont have them.

I'd hardly call any of those states besides maybe CO anti gun.

I would. Michigan has forced permitting and registration for handguns.
I live in Fascist NY and our Wal-Marts still have guns...
Some Wal-Marts in rural Canada carry guns and ammo.

Well fair, been a minute since I've lived in Michigan and when I did I wasn't able to be a handgun owner. Stands for the other 3, though.

Hell some parts Illinois have em

They call that a "training scar" now in the "operator" classes; call it whatever you want, but it's real.
Don't always practice draw and double tap, etc, because it'll be second nature in the wrong situation.
There are several reported cases (pun intended) of this happening back when police carried revolvers; they'd become engaged in a gunfight, empty their revolvers and retain the brass during the shooting. They did this because they practiced shooting at the training ranges in this manner.
They are second or third hand stories and may or may not be urban legend, but the point stands.
Read about these stories:

If you were firing them out of a .223 target barrel, there could be a chance that the leade could grab the bullet, depending on the OAL of the cartridge, depth of the bullet in it, and the bullet ogive. If you were to extract the cartridge without firing, it could pull the bullet out of the case and spill powder everywhere.
You could also get bullet setback during feeding depending on the rifle you fire them from.
I've noticed crimping affects the consistency of velocity most, and should result in a smaller range of velocities.

Even worse, when police Departments started switching from revolvers to semi-autos, some guys would draw their sidearm and end up with "Glock-leg". Basically, because revolvers have a heavy trigger pull in DA, they'd gotten away with putting their finger on the trigger while drawing. Habit led them to do the same with their new semi-autos, causing them to ND into their legs.
Glock 29. I'm a 6"4 228 pound bigguy, thinking of getting one for my first CC gun. Anyone here used them? Carried one?

As a PROUD member of the Wal*Mart team, it's not about politics or anything really. (Talked about this with the guy who used to run sporting goods who is now my boss.) They enable a store to do gun sales where they're likely to sell well. It's on a case by case basis because they're high dollar items, which Walmart isn't normally interested in. My store is right on the brink of a very rural county, so they sell lots of guns. I hear them on the radio needing a manager to unlock the case for them and to walk them out of the building multiple times a day. Sounds simple, but since people were saying it's tied to politics, I figured I'd chime in a bit.
Not ten minutes away, there's a store that doesn't sell them. Mostly because the customers they canvased who use that store wouldn't have interests in buying firearms, as far as I have been told.
However, it DOES sell ammo, for some odd reason. The next closest store is the same story as mine.

It does sometimes come down to politics, walmart will just never admit it.
Was the Hardware/spoorting goods manager for a walmart in a very tourist-y city in Florida. The walmart I worked out was about 2.5 miles from another walmart and was built entirely to ease the congestion. The city council didn't want it to have firearms and the store opted not to install a gun case because it may deter out-of-country customers, which that store got a lot of.

Got to take it to the range for a quicky after work today. Got it sighted in after shooting the steel bars suspending the target for half a mag.
On sunday I'm taking an old bff to the range to shoot it and the M59.
I got a cheap red dot, and decided to buy a CETME L magazine. Seems to work ok.

I see some sites selling it as an airsoft scope. Wish had it as a hunting tactical scope, meanwhile ebay has tons of em. It's metal, cheap, and works. With that said, I haven't put it through much yet so I don't know how well it'll hold up.
Speaking of cheap optics, I bought this

last year for my AR and its been holding up fine
