If I was going to get into target shooting with a pistol and hunting with a rifle, which guns would you people suggest me? I have been looking around and ammunition wise russian ammunition is extremely cheap around here, like boxes with 100s of rounds for around the price of a weeks supply of cigarettes. Currently thinking a G17A for the target shooting and a Mosin Nagant for hunting
What Cyke said. A Mosin'd be good for plinking, which is perfect if you can get 7.62x54r cheap.
Nah, Nagant in Tapco stock best for hunting.
Obrez'd Mosin is best Mosin
Taking my boss shooting later today he's bringing his Tac-ops Tango 51 I'm excited My R700 is a hell of a rifle but not .25 MOA guaranteed for sure
One of my supervisors knows a guy with some land you can shoot on. It's closed off for a couple of reasons right now. Once that's over, I'll finally be able to use those magazines I have loaded with tracers.
I'm basically shooting in my backyard cause my landlord owns all the land behind my house. It's cool but I'd like to find somewhere where I can shoot 600+ yds right now it's got a berm set up at 250yds and that's about the farthest you can safely shoot
don't make me ill [editline]14th January 2017[/editline] tango down bg17 vs magpul miad 1.1 vs magpul moe+ vs ergo grip?
Depends on what grip angle you prefer and how big your hands are. I have US Palm grips on my AKs because I prefer the grip angle, which is what the Tango Down BG17 is similar to. I run the MIAD grips on my ARs with the largest backstrap because I have big hands, and I prefer MIAD to MOE. I have an ERGO Grip on my M14 EBR and it is quite nice as well. The biggest downside to the Tango Down/US PALM style grips and the Ergo grip is the lack of texturing in the front and rear, whereas the MIAD has a mild to aggressive texture all around and the MOE can be had standard or rubberized.
Dude, I've wanted to find a place to shoot 300+ for forever. I'd love to get into long range competition, but nowhere near me does it and I have no where at all to practice. Even our hunting grounds we really don't have any shots over 150 at the longest.

My R700 is actually setup for F/TR right now
This is fucking hilarious. I've always wanted to own 9x19 incendiaries, 12-gauge tracers and .308 Roufoss's.
the only real RAUFOSS type ammunition is nm140 and nm160 in 12,7x99. the "raufus, raufos, roufus, rafus, rofaus" etc bullshit gunshow loads they sell in the US in 5,56, 7,62, 9mm etc are all homemade crap. [editline]14th January 2017[/editline] nm140/nm160 is mk211/mk300 for you guys. [editline]14th January 2017[/editline] especially because the real raufoss round is MP/MP-T (APHEI/-T). the "roufuss" crap on that site is just incendiary, HE at best, there is no AP core in it.
pretty amazing how they manage to use three spellings of the same word on the same page tbh!
Holy shit, didn't notice that. I still like the idea of exploding bullets though lol

Now that we timbered up in PA, I might be able to squeeze out 250 along the bottom ravine, but that'd be pushing it with limbs and shit in the way. How do you have your 700 setup?
Was shooting my revolver well enough at 15m today that I moved the target back to 25m. Was still shooting pretty decent, but could be better. Missed a shot completely because I jerked the trigger, but 29/30 hitting the paper isn't bad, especially when I thought I'd fucked up 2 shots, not just one.

I'll be half impressed, half inclined to call BS if you say DA :v:
Out of curiosity, are you shooting it DA or cocked? I'll be half impressed, half inclined to call BS if you say DA :v:
Nah I'm cocking it each time. DA I need to improve on at 15 a bit still. Maybe next time I go out I'll shoot only DA and see how I do.
in many european countries it's actually pretty common to have revolvers modified to DAO, with silky smooth trigger pull. for obvious reasons you can't cock it to SA, since you have installed a trigger stop in the trigger guard. friend has a very nice condition 586 modified to DAO, smoothest revolver trigger i have ever tried. [editline]15th January 2017[/editline] the reason for this being that we shoot a lot of "hurtigfelt" and similar programs, where you have a short time to shoot as many targets as possible on varying ranges.
Makes sense. I put 100 rounds through the PCR yesterday, couldn't hit crap on DA. It doesn't have the Omega trigger-pack, but it's still a smooth, consistent pull. On SA, it has a very short take-up and a clean break. I managed to get a few decent groups on-center, so I know it's me, not the weapon. I just need to suck less :v:

Aren't they like $3000? The new ones, I mean
Aren't they like $3000? The new ones, I mean
They haven't announced pricing yet, but the last time they sold the "Legend" models that were produced in 2010, they went from $2199-2399
What would you recommend then? Cause I really do want an MP5A2
http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=16606&idcategory=86 $1450 for a parts kit with a flat. See if you can find someone locally with a jig. Otherwise, there is a jig on there for $270 as well. These guys will fold the flat for $300 http://blackopsdefense.com/services/services-mp5/ Or, buy a CZ Scorpion rifle. It's got all the feel of the MP5, for ~$900
Having shot a full auto MP5A2 -- it was fun but not that fun and in semi-auto only you might as well buy any other pistol caliber carbine.

I'm planning on possibly building an ar15 and possibly buying a hunting rifle to bag deer. What would you guys recommend in terms of parts and retailers to buy from?
