Called Ruger, they said "Yeah, that ball bearing isn't supposed to fall out like that." So now I have to send the gun in to their Canadian warranty centre.
For 2500$ it better come with a giggle switch or lasers cause there are a whole lot of things I could buy with 2500$ that isn't a M16A1 repro LVOA-C build? Sure 80% of the rifles in daniel defense, noveske and PWS's catalog? you got it any F1 BDR-15 that's not cerakoted? yup 2 aero precision M4E1's and a TP9SA? yaaasss
Like I said, you're buying the brand. You can obviously get a much better rifle for the money but those guns aren't colt M16A1's. It's like the Mateba Auto revolver; they're barely functioning, overly complicated, insanely fragile pieces of shit but they still cost $6,000 despite all that.
The shame of it is, the only way my dad would consider an AR is if he could get an A1 repro for $600 or less. Considering the parts kit currently costs $700, and the barrels/receivers are all out of stock, he's SOL.
I'd trade my quadrail MP15 for an A1/old school AR15 in a heartbeat.
Only AR handguard I REALLY want is the M203 handguard.
Nodak Spud did a limited run a few years ago for classic M16 receivers. If anything, Colt should have contracted them to make em to bring the price down since they had the forgings process down.
Oh I'm well aware, I don't live far from them. I never said the cost is entirely justified but those still cost a lot of money.
Is that what I think it is (supposedly from their shotshow booth)
I'll give them credit, that's the nicest hipoint I've seen.

Alot of distributors (including RSR as seen in the tail end of the video) are still sitting on TONS of them. Guess that "exclusivity" thing didn't really work out there.
Thanks for the info, shame really. I do really want to get an AR with an A1 handguard. Or..... you know the A2 M203 handguard? Do you need an M203 to get the upper/handguard for it? [editline]19th January 2017[/editline] Then again without an M203 its probably uncomfortable. A1 it is. [editline]19th January 2017[/editline] Thanks for the help anyway everyone.
Do you need to get an M203 to get the handguard? No. However without the 203 the handguard is kind of useless as the bottom of it is totally open
Don't most old-school M203s come with the handguard attached?

Many years ago my friend's dad worked for them and I got to play with an FN2000 in one of their warehouses.
I actually really like those mags in the yugos. Looks pretty aesthetic. Thinking about picking one up for mine. You like the tech. sights so far?
They feel really nice as well. Much sturdier and tougher than the promags. No reliability issues either! The tech sights are very nice. Now that they are sighted in its a very consistent shot. I actually enjoy firing it more than I do the RFB at the moment.
Don't most old-school M203s come with the handguard attached?
On all the 203s I've seen, that handguard is a separate piece held in place like a normal handguard. You can actually use the upper half of an M16 handguard with an M203, IIRC that's how the Canadians do it.
get an airsoft m203 and cry when it melts over your hand
I actually stuck an airsoft M203 on an A3 repro for shits and giggles and did a few hundred rounds through it. The airsoft 203s on the market nowadays are all metal, so it held up fine. Putting an airsoft grenade launcher on a real gun for looks is dumb, but then again people do it with those 37mm flare launchers that cost way more and don't even look right.

Is it worth spending more than 70 bucks on a pic rail flashlight? Can't imagine it would be
Is it worth spending more than 70 bucks on a pic rail flashlight? Can't imagine it would be
I spent $70 on a light/green laser combo that actually works really well. I wouldn't go any more than that unless it's like a 1.21 gigawatt lightbulb.
Is it worth spending more than 70 bucks on a pic rail flashlight? Can't imagine it would be
Duct tape and a maglite is cheaper. How often will you actually need a flashlight on your AR? You're just adding weight to look cool.
Only time I've ever actually used a flashlight on an AR is when doing some coyote control.
Browning's gunsmith fixed my .380 as I waited. The slide slides much better now. Hopefully the issue is fixed so I can sell it.
