Should use Dexron-3. The red colour will improve the value of your C96.
I pretty much just shoot everything full of CLP after cleaning it and put a coat of the stuff on the outside of the weapon, too. Not graceful but it works. I never have reliability or rust issues with my guns at least. I know people who spend hours finely lubricating their guns with q tips and droppers and brushes using three different kinds of expensive oils and greases. Just doesn't make sense to me.
Please don't get your dream C96 and then slather it in motor oil. That shit will ruin the grips.
obviously I don't dip the entire gun into a vat of motor oil, I just take a syringe and apply small amounts. Lasts practically forever, but I wipe it down and relubricate like once a month or so. [editline]29th August 2016[/editline]
Like 5w-30?
yea
WD40 is not meant to be used as a gun lubricant, it's meant to disperse water off of surfaces, and that's it. Like others I use Breakfree CLP and Hoppes9 when I've been shooting corrosive.
I used remoil in my P-64, but it wasnt smooth and the slide squeaked. Then i started using 5w30 full synthetic motor oil and it works much better. My nugget likes motor oil too. Remoil works fine in my AR though.
I don't trust rem oil, I've heard it can cause guns to rust. I will probably be trying out eezox for my antiques soon.

Having the larger particles to fill in the voids in the metal better.
Depends on the gun. My AK is lubed via grease, as is my mosin. My AR, and my Tikka are lubed with CLP. In the end, they all function really well, and that's all I really give a damn about.
Yeah, my Garand I use grease on it, the SKS I use CLP, and I use grease on the slide of my P228 and CLP on the internals.
How about that full power 10mm? I shot one of the 10mm Underwood loaded Extreme Penetrators into an 8" diameter 1/4" AR500 plate from 10yds and it made an X shaped depression in it.
Yeah man, it's some good stuff. The gun is quite easy to keep on target in all honesty.

Got my sling today.
Your AR is very nice looking.
This sold for $200 today at a gun buyback The anonymous party who surrendered the gun stated he will use the $200 to go towards the purchase of a new gun.
Breakfree CLP is my go to, but that's only because I haven't been able to find Slip2k in years. That was the smoothest gun lube I've ever used.
You can't find slip? I sell that shit all day long, best lube hands down IMO. I use CLP for most of my daily stuff just because it works pretty well and helps clean, but when I break out the AR or M1A for lots of shooting slip is what goes in them. Only shitty thing about it is it isn't great for carry guns, not because it attracts lint or anything but any cloth touching the gun will suck it up though capillary action. Went through 2 shirts before I realized that was the culprit. Also, don't use car engine oil as a lube. It's ok as a protectant, but as a gun lube it's not that great. The reason being is what it's made to do; provide lubrication and wick off easily to be collected in a sump and reused. If you say ran an AR hard you'd find yourself relubeing your rifle very often in comparison to a gun lube (such as slip 2000), which is designed to lube but not wick off.

Uh so I put $600+tax and shit down on a Rossi 92 in .357, is there anything you guys can say to make me regret this impulse purchase? First time buying a gun so I dunno if I made a bad choice here

I honestly would feel bad even trying to sell it to anyone else...
Get it rechambered in .357 Sig
Price may be kinda high mine was $430 in .44 mag. also the lever guns have a better reputation than the revolvers.
Lever gun: For when you want a gun that is out performed in basically every way by other firearms.

First time buying a gun so I dunno if I made a bad choice here
First off you over paid for it by a lot, including tax I'd send it out the door for about $567.13. Second, they're known to be a bit finicky out if the box. Even though they're based on the Winchester they're poorly fitted and finished, resulting in an action that loves to bind. You're probably going have to strip it down and polish all the actions contact points to get it to cycle reliably. However there's a chance you may not, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once and a while.
But they are REALLY fun.
All this talk of cleaning guns and here I am, having half-assedly cleaned my AK 2 or 3 times over the course of 4 years. [sp]It still works like a charm, the barrel is in perfect condition. Rifle is fine.[/sp]
Upper shipped today for my AR! When it gets here I'll post some pics.
But they are REALLY fun.
Lever guns are fun, but i just cant justify paying like $500 for a 357 mag rifle that performs like shit
Lever gun: For when you want a gun that is out performed in basically every way by other firearms.
But lever actions are fun as hell. My Henry .22 was stupid fun to shoot. And it took .22lr, .22 long and .22 short. In the latter, you could cram 20 rounds into the tube, and could hear the bullet hitting paper, it was so quiet. It finally started stove piping on me a few months ago during an Appleseed shoot, at the very end of the day when we were just having fun because there wasn't enough time for another drill.
A marlin 30-30 is still on my list. I like them for under $500.
Lever gun: For when you want a gun that is out performed in basically every way by other firearms.
Best at looking sexy as fuck And what else are you going to use to remove apache when they come to your homestead to steal your horses? I prep for all eventualities. I have a Martini-Henry for the impending zulus resurgence as well.
And what else are you going to use to remove apache when they come to your homestead to steal your horses?
Well, I am getting a 1873 on Saturday so... :v:
